I like how there was a miniture traction engine replica hauling a trailer with a wiener dog.

24:20 I have a new found appreciation for showman engines, seeing them working as intended. Even better is that the Rundles one is local to Charles and one of our customers at work

I very nearly came down to see this show (on the Sunday) but a two day school reunion right before it burnt me out!
I'm guessing it was well attended this year as - we all know (?) - there was no Great Dorset this year.

1:30 ive been to exactly 1 of these shows before, it was only about half the size of this one but they are the easiest shows to get distracted and lost in. pIt took me an hour to find the steam engines (the whole reason i went there) simply because of the tractors and other old farm equipment that they had driving around the whole event all day. Someone would take their little hit n miss tractor out and do a lap of the grounds and before they could even back it back into their spot someone else was off doing a lap to show off. Coolest event of any kind that ive ever been to, not a single boring moment.

Great videos these, and such interesting content - thanks Lawrie. It's good to see the huge attendance at these fairs.
I'm sad for the all the people who did a magnificent job for so many years and gave so much pleasure to so many at the GDSF - culminating in the magic fifty and my second visit.
The size of these fairs indicates that the steaming tradition will go on, even if the GDSF has met its end.

I wish somehow we could get you a Stanley or Doble steam car. By the late 20s, they looked much like a standard period car. Apparently, GM was still experimenting with steam cars as late as 1969. Maybe one of the steam busses Doble built for Aukland N.Z.? Oh, how many spotted the Rolls-Royce Silver Ghost parked by the roadside when the Fowler non Showman rode by.

My man go to Dordt in Stoom, you'll love it. They got steamtrains, steamships(big ones too), steam road machines, model railways, music, machines at work making things, harbours being turned back in time, etc, etc. It's unique and you need to go there. It's the biggest event in Europe. In 2022 a quarter of a milion people attended this event. It's free to go there. When i say it's a city full of steam i mean that. You missed this year, next chance will be in 2026. Many British machines attend as well, it's alway great fun to chat with people from all over Europe.
    Warm greetings from the Netherlands!

That green goddess in the army tan is fairly rare as it’s an army variant as been fitted with an extra Locker back left total of 150 ish built and I think down to single figures left either way a lot less compared to the home office ones built for the AFS

14:09 I remember going to a show and seeing not one but two Minneapolis Molines, stretched and with Allison V-1710s under the hoods. Should look and see if I still have the photos laying around somewhere.
I think my favorite steamers are the Averys with the underslung engine. They have a traditional loco-style cab and look a bit like roadgoing...well, fieldgoing steam locomotives for it. Also built here in Peoria.

The U.K. and the U.S. are very different when it comes to the division of labor of steam tractor crews. In the U.K, you have one person steering, and another person doing everything else. In the U.S, you normally have a fireman and a driver, much like in a locomotive. Admittedly I've only driven and fired a steam tractor once, but I've seen other crews working, and it looked pretty similar.
