Monsoon in India does bring a lot of happiness to the people. I've rarely gotten the monsoon smell in the US. In India ,when it rains , you can smell the wet mud and you know it's raining even if you are indoors. Tea and Pakora(the fried snacks) are proper monsoon snacks :)

Rain y experiences not a hot topic for Keralites right now. Many of my friends survived by drinking filtered rain water when they got stuck due to the deluge. The brick part is funny because many roads in our country wont survive hard core monsoon esp in Kerala. When I was college there is this whole puddle of dirty rain water in those gutters which we had to cross. However some archangel puts those bricks and makes our lives easy. That was the most relatable part for me.

Here India heats for 2 months of summer at 45 degrees (115 degrees F)and then comes rains which not only cools off the temperature, its romantic and also the backbone of Indian economy. Rain water doesn't contain any impurity of sea water. Rain water droplets are formed due to evaporation of water, the evaporated water is free from all the impurities. Otherwise if so it was just the ocean water poured down as rain then rain water would be salty too. So i suggest do have a look at Water Cycle and clear little misconceptions. Agreed though that the pollutants in air gets mixed with rain water and that makes the rain water bad. Though its normally believed that first and even second rain of the year may have polluted water, but once the air pollutants gets washed out in the first rain, all the after rain is pure and hygienic to dance in.
