By effectively choosing who wins (using money that doesnt exist) and making it secret, thus preventing the auction going higher and his debtors getting more money out. If proven, its also a criminal act called auction rigging. This is also to ignore the fact that it makes more than the auction amount in profit each year, so forcing him to auction it off at all is the less financially responsible move for literally everyone involved. This is geared to shut him up, and that is all. Hes right to sue.

@DeenaMilkers Yeah it's weird. Big issue is one, the rules the judge set out to begin with ("bids cannot be a range, bids must be deliverable IE cash not credit", etc). They broke those rules flat out. The other problem was that it was a secret auction with only one chance for each bidder... which isn't an auction. Theoretically the bidding could have kept getting higher, but these weird decisions by the trustee made sure that couldn't happen, and thus the other debtors got 'less' potentially. Also the families, while they are owed money, aren't in control over his assets- just because they favor one party doesnt entitle them to manipulate a public auction. What you are describing does make sense on the surface, but that's just not how it works. That would be like getting a speeding ticket, and handing cash directly to the cop enough to cover the ticket. Yes the end effect is the same (gov gets it's money) but the process is all wrong.
