Deyanira, thank you so much for your videos and encouragement!!! I PASSED MY EXAM TODAY!!! You were right about not memorizing but focusing on understanding the info and making your own connection. Those questions were crazy, but I made it!!!
You definitely settled a lot of my anxiety about taking this exam, thanks for sharing your experience - it's so helpful to hear from another individual in this field!
I finished my MAC too many years ago and went back to my “full time job” for another 10 years. I retire in 24 months, and figured it’s time to use my degree. Thanks for the good words on studying for the NCE. Signed…the old guy. 😊😊
I did the same... got my degree and 2010 as -- single mother working full-time, with a daughter who played basketball... Now that I am retired, I am looking to take the exam and have time to put in the hours....
@andreabailey8206 I PASSED ON THE FIRST TRY!!! It felt so amazing. Focus on studying your career & group counseling areas. That was a HUGE portion of my exam. I studied 21 days (every day) straight, & I did it! You got this! Just please refresh! All I used was The Purple Book 3rd edition from Dr. Rosenthal (for context) & I purchased the "Behavioral App" (for taking practice exams). It's $19.99, BUT I PROMISE YOU- IT PAYS FOR ITSELF! I truly feel that app alone was the ultimate reason I got through the NCE!!
I graduated in 2002 and never studied. I took a sample exam and passed it online!! The majority of these questions were hardly presented in my grad program.
My struggle is understanding the content in itself I don’t feel they even tell you “this will be on the exam” like what specifically should I learn, what were big areas of focus on the exam? Thanks!
blessings, that was a very helpful video! Thanks again for your helpful insights! I am going to solve this case of passing the exam as I would helping a client!
@@TheLeisure2012 I passed!!! It certainly asked a lot of application type questions. Rosenthal’s book was helpful but Pam Turner’s course seemed more relevant.
Hi Karina! What I tried to memorize was the concept or the theory being taught within questions because you won't find word for word on the NCE. So for example, memorizing Erikson's stages and how to apply them to any question instead of just memorizing questions. Questions only give you a piece of something but here it's crucial to know the foundation. You're not alone, this exam is something else but I know you got this. Rooting for you!
Thank you for the advice. How early do you recommend to start studying? And for how long a day/week? I struggle retaining material and get anxious as well
Hi! Thank you so much for letting me know I’ll definitely see if I can fix it. You can schedule directly through my website at cozementalhealthservices.com . Also congratulations on gearing up to take the NCE🎉😊
Hello Deyanira! I am a new follower :) I also live in Texas! I am starting my practicum this winter 2023. I won't be able to take the exam until next year 2024 around August. When would you say to start studying? I have major test anxiety!
Thank you for yoru video>I'm actually wrapping up my practicum and getting ready for my internship. I just received an email from the school saying that I can take the NCE before graduation because I already fulfilled all the requirements minus the internship. I wonder how much time I need to schedule to prepare for this test. I was thinking a conservative 3 months in advance, considering that I will be serving clients at my internship. Can you give me some input on that? Is that too conservative?
You mentioned in another video that you found Dr. (???) videos helpful. I am curious to know that name of that individual and I cannot find which video you mentioned it in, could you remind me? Many thanks!
Hi, I failed my test by 7 points. This is my second time failing and I studied so hard. I’m falling into a state of depression, because I don’t know what I’m doing wrong, and I paid so much money for my degree only for it to be a waste because I can’t pass this test😪
Hi, I’m really sorry honestly this test is so frustrating because it’s so much information and a shock to the system. I’ve always been an anxious test taker so definitely not fun times. Let me know if there’s anything I can do to help 🤎
Thank you so much for the advice!!!!

Thank God I'm not the only one
I am a volunteer coordinator and the stress is low and able to study during the day. I'm 62 but don't plan to retire
@@sylviareyes765 same…”retired” for me means not going to work 7-5. The next phase of life will be much better. I hope your phase is going well.
I take my NCE October 23rd, this year! Your videos are so helpful!
Congratulations on being one step closer! That’s awesome!🥹🎊
I hope you passed!! Give us an update! I’m looking to take mine in January, I haven’t studied yet! I’m nervous

I’m still in undergrad now but I’m going to start studying now so that by the time I take these exams I’ll be familiar with the content.
Thank you for being an inspiration! I'm finally looking to get my LPC soon and your videos definitely help.
I’m so happy for you!!!🎉🎉🎉 Thank you 🥹

I hope you can answer this question… did you memorize each question like word by word? I’m having such a hard time studying.

What’s the book you read ?
Hi! I have it all linked in my What I used To Study video in my NCE playlist. It’s the Howard Rosenthal book.

Might be Dr. Pam
Dr. Howard Rosenthal I believe. He has a website. The “Bible” of NCE books and c/ds.
Excellent suggestions, thank you. I would love to speak to you.
