Both are challenging in unique ways - violinist having to memorize bowing and strings and probably much more, clarinetist have to concentrate on breathing and embouchure while doing notes, etc etc

As a previous clarinet tutor, I love the tone that the clarinet player has. Having enough projection without sounding nasty is a balancing act. I love it. 😍
Granted I tutored 10 year olds, and some of the high school players would never have that tone.

I have performed in a quintet a couple times, but I did a solo (sometimes memorized) about 3-4 times a year for five years.
Yeah, I played 6 recitals so far and I did one in front of 1,283 people.

Everyone is arguing about which is easier when it all comes to personal preference. The violin and clarinet are very beautiful instruments and some have difficulty playing any instrument more than others, I play the clarinet and bass clarinet and I dont think it's a very hard instrument but others can beg to differ. Just appreciate the music instead of trying to argue about it because it's pointless because people have different opinions about different things.
