Last night I was looking for inspiration and stumbled upon Decor Tours. While looking at the pictures I realised how many of these kitchens either had blocked off corners or no corners at all. My first thought was "Wow, Mark is really getting through!" 😄Keep up the great work!!

I also find that figuring out precisely what will go where helps me evaluate layout options. Especially for things I don’t normally think about in regard to “kitchen” items, such as my cordless vacuum and 3 step stool. While a smaller stool is sufficient for reaching the top shelf in upper cabinets, my 3 step stool is better for reaching ceiling lights on the first floor to clean or change bulbs. Fortunately with LED I don’t have to change them nearly as often as I once did. But with my first floor at 8’6” tall, the three step stool in better than my shorter one, but larger to store. My coat closet is already pulling triple duty with my full size vacuum, broom, dust mop, coats, hats, boots, mittens, sports gear, etc and it’s only 3’ wide!

Just this morning, I was wondering how we functioned in our old kitchen. 8 weeks without a stove and functioning sink was worth it.

0:45 I like how it has a sign to remind them what room they're in. Bc knowing whether you're in the kitchen has a big impact on functionality.

That "kitchen they currently have" at 0:45 would be an upgrade for me. In fact, the layout looks scarily similar- just jam that range to the left against the cabinets, chop off the counter to the right of the range and make it four inches wide next to a doorway. At the other side of the doorway, at 90°, place a pantry cabinet, a short counter I use for coffee, and a large side by side refrigerator. Home Depot designed the kitchen with Plaza Thomasville cabinets in cherry for the second previous owner. It has a granite countertop, a bay window, and an OTR microwave. There is a Congoleum floor on which people have apparently dropped countless knives pointy-side-down. Oh, the dishwasher is jammed up against the peninsula cabinets. There is a wine refrigerator in that blind corner, accessible from the breakfast bar side if you crawl on your hands and knees. We don't eat there, so we leave it pulled out flush.

This was a great video, giving me much to think about as I plan my first kitchen renovation. I like how you emphasize the need to plan for where all the kitchen "stuff" will be housed. I think this is important, because most people, like me, will tend to focus on how many and what types of cabinets can fit in the kitchen because we all want lots of storage. But we don't necessarily think about what we are storing, and this is really important (especially since that air fryer is really big). Again, thanks for a really helpful video.

Sorry, but at 9:08, there is no such
    word as "flexability." Otherwise, I
    really enjoy your videos.
