Great job Nat. Your videos, to me at least, are very much like NDYakAngler's. Great presentation. NO BS music or other annoying distractions. You let us feel like we're there with you. Nothing more needs to be said!! Keep up the great work!
Dude the fact that you showed you can fish a frog on spinning gear is one of the most satisfying and personally validating things I’ve seen in a TH-cam fishing video. Much respect.
You can absolutely fish frogs with spinning gear and have lots of success. I think it's a common misconception that you must use a baitcaster for certain baits.
Great video! I learned a lot about frog fishing and that steady retrieve is actually a very viable option for them. I guess getting my first big frog strike when I was steady retrieving it with the intention of casting to another spot wasn't just pure luck. These longer style videos from you are also quite nice! Sometimes the best way to learn is watching how other anglers fish. Great stuff :)
Honestly, I like these styles of videos of you just going out and fishing while bringing us along for the joy. But, your other tutorials are just as amazing, they've been a great help to me as I try to figure out how to go fishing independently. Thanks man!
Great video! Thanks for sharing and taking us along with you. Thanks for some great information! Keep up the good work! As always, #FishingwithNat rocks!!!
That nice one on the 1 legged frog- well done casting back into that area, changing the presentation, and getting a fish that missed the first time. I loved seeing how you managed to still get him on the second time around.
i cant get a top water strike to save my life lol. gonna keep tryin and your videos have been so helpful in other areas. didn't think straight would work for a frog but i'll definitely try it next time i'm out!
That's a broad topic because it depends on so many things (species, water clarity, lures...). For example, on the river near my house, the water is stained dark. Bass and panfish fishing is good in the morning and evening with topwater baits. They go deeper during the day and are better targeted with other baits. You can't really fish them at night at all because the water is so dark to begin with, the fish can't see much of anything. You can catch walleyes or catfish occasionally at night, but everything else pretty much shuts down. Even the walleyes and cats tend to bite better during the day.
Thanks and welcome. I mostly use an Old Town Sportsman 120 PDL and that's what was used in this video. I made a video about my kayak setup that you can see here th-cam.com/video/7iNQumNWzdA/w-d-xo.html
What reel are you using? I have that same pole and put a Penn Fierce IV 4000 on mine… glad to see frogs are working for you gonna try them here in California, and I’m gonna try em in Minnesota in a few weeks when I go fish there… and when I’m moved to Texas in late October I’m gonna try them there too I’m very excited
Those are the Fish Monkey gloves. I have a pair of those and a pair of Kastking gloves. The Kastking gloves have a shorter wrist and are thinner, so they are cooler in the summer. The Fish Monkey gloves feel very solid like they will last for a long time and through many washes. I wear gloves all the time when fishing out in the sun and both work well for sun protection.
Hey Nate, love your channel. I’m getting into fishing later in life and I appreciate your info! Do you think when using frog lures a fluorocarbon leader is necessary? I haven’t been using it on my 65 lb braid and have been getting no bites. Hoping that is the cause. Thanks man
If the vegetation is really thick, it probably doesn't matter if you have a leader. But if your frog is in open water, the fish might get a good look at your line and I think a leader can help. I'd also suggest downsizing your line to increase your casting distance. Sometimes frogs work best when they are far from the shore/boat.
Thanks man I appreciate it! My bait caster sends the lure pretty far so I’ll hang with the 65 for now (I just don’t wanna buy new braid lol) but I will try a fluorocarbon leader. I’m a shore fisher so anything helps!
Whats your whater temp and air temperature. Me and my so are learning bass fishing. Me are up in Delaware try to learn new things. Thanks man enjoy your video
I was using 4lb Berkley Trilene XL monofilament for the bobber and weightless rig. I moved up to 15lb Sufix 832 braided line with a 15lb fluorocarbon leader for the bottom rig.

It's a great rod and a great frog. Thanks for the comment.
Grwat job nat 👍👍👍
Thanks for the feedback
Like your kayak setup another great video thanks Nat.
Thanks for the comment. I think I've finally got the kayak set up just right for me!
Why 6" leader. I use 5' 35 lb floracrben on 65 brade works like a champ!!
The fluoro leader will sink so it can get caught on plants/duckweed between twitches.
Could you do a video on the best ways to fish at different times of the day?
That's a broad topic because it depends on so many things (species, water clarity, lures...). For example, on the river near my house, the water is stained dark. Bass and panfish fishing is good in the morning and evening with topwater baits. They go deeper during the day and are better targeted with other baits. What a fun video
Thanks. It was a blast out there on the water.
hey nat, so I only do bank fishing for the moment, but would you say kayak fishing is more efficient?
Yes. Bank fishing limits you to easy access points where you have enough room to cast. A kayak opens up a world of possibilities for a low cost.
'He probably won't get hooked again' 😂
And then he showed me!
What is your kayak outfit setup? Love the content by the way. New Bass fisherman and new subscriber!

@@Rabidmink77 Awesome - that's great to hear
What rod specs and reel are you using?
That was my main frogging combo - a medium-heavy Ugly Stik Carbon spinning rod 7' and Pflueger President XT Size 35.
Whats your whater temp and air temperature. Me and my so are learning bass fishing. Me are up in Delaware try to learn new things. Thanks man enjoy your video
This video was shot in mid-July in Wisconsin. Air temps were in the mid-80s and water temps were near 80.
Putting rattlers in the frog thank you so much
Cool - that can help get a fish's attention.
Steady retrieve on frogs, nice, noted!
Particularly with frogs that have prop feet or paddletail feet.
@@FishingwithNat yep noted that as well, looked up some scum frogs for purchasing and I wil give it a try this week / weekend!
Thank you!
