For those who have only finished the first season, watch the ep 23b, an alternate to ep 23. This is the starting point of Steins; Gate 0. Your mind will be blown.
I also played the VN and the VN was a bit different from the anime. For example, you had to reach a specific ending first to unlock the true ending while the anime did it differently. If you played the VN you will be more mind blown than watching the anime. Still, the S;G 0 anime was pretty good, but the VN was better. If someone here hasn't watched S;G and S;G 0, I recommend doing it right now. If you like a bit of reading play the VN. It is really worth your time.
The movie is also very, very good. It digs more into Kurisu's character, and is probably worth the watch between seasons. The OVA is a good treat for the end of Season 1 as well, though it's probably not as fitting when watched at the end of Season 2.

The anime version is a Frankenstein’s monster version of the visual novel plot that takes a bunch of unrelated plot lines and staples them together in an attempt to create a coherent single story. The pacing and storytelling feels completely off as a result because the different routes it mashes together are meant to be experienced separately.

The problem was that the copyright system detects the original vocals in the mixes, thus blocking them. Turbo was/is looking for independent vocalists to collaborate with him on re-recording the lyrics so the songs can pass as proper covers. We didn't get any news on that so far tho (afaik)
