I really hope that after the war, Iroh took Jeong Jeong to see the masters as well. The amount of self-hatred he feels is so tragic. I feel like learning to see fire as life instead of just as destruction would lift a huge weight from him.
I love how Zuko and Aang kinda just naturally fall into a teen older brother/tween younger brother relationship in this episode
Aang:”I don’t normally play this card, but I’m the Avatar.”
Who does he think he’s kidding? The whole of the first and second seasons was him saying I’m the Avatar and getting free stuff.

That throwaway line from Aang "When I was a Kid" I never noticed, but is not played for laughs or challenged in any way. It's like he feels like he has grown so much in such a short time. He's the same person, but at the same time, really different from S1 Aang. Losing Appa forced some reality and matirity into him, too. This show is so amazing.
i kinda feel like this whole episode was kind of a parallel to the episode in S1 where Katara had a similar line, but with Aang kinda filling her shoes of a kid who had to grow up too fast
An interesting thing I saw someone point out, they learn the positive side of firebending through a dance, while not too many episodes ago it turns out dancing had been banned in the present fire nation.
Oh yeah! I almost forgot about that!
Fun fact: in the sequel comics, Zuko can create rainbow dragon-fire! Its only for a single page, but i love that he can actually do it
I love how the chief guy warns them to keep his tribe's existence a secret..... yet the first thing they do when they get back is break that promise anyway, lol. 😂 But yeah, great episode.

1:17 The little weak version of the Fire Nation theme playing XD
Of all the incredible episodes this series has, I think this one is my favorite. The whole dragon dance sequence is one of the most beautiful animated scenes I've ever seen, the dragons are so majestic. Then they come down and learn that Iroh was also deemed worthy and protected the dragons, it's perfect!!
Two more details that I love, the shot of Aang Firebending with a smile on his face is so powerful, after he was so ashamed for having burned Katara, he even says to the the Guru he was never going to firebend again, and here he does with joy.
Lastly, by learning the true ways of Firebending Zuko doesn't have to rely on angry and rage anymore, and we can notice, before this episode he always makes a grunt to bend and from here onwards he doesn't grunt anymore, incredible storytelling and character detail for Zuko.

Zuko being stuck the other way saved his life
This stretch of the show is just amazing, and the wild part is this is probably the most laid back episode in it, and it still has so much in terms of relating Zuko and Aang’s growth as people and peeling back another layer on just how far astray the Fire Nation has gone.
I think the dragon dance was actually an homage to Dragonball. You see various scenes that remind you of Dragonball and Naruto.
Zuko is on a spiritual journey much like Iroh experienced. It took the death of Iroh's son to make him reflect on his life and change his ways. Zuko's journey has been just as arduous. His father physically abused him, his sister psychologically abused him for years, he was banished, his own sister and father tried to kill him...is that enough? It seems like enough to break most people. Yet, he didn't break. In fact, he grows stronger by the moment.
The Dragon Dance definitely reminded me of the Fusion Dance.
The final pose Aang and Zuko do reminds me of the dance Trunks and Gohan do in Dragon Ball Z. It's goofy dance Trunks and Gohan do or am I thinking of the Ginu Force? 😂

Fusion Dance indeed was used in DBZ to let to characters temporarily merge to combine their power.
The Ginyu Force does poses, but yeah you're thinking of the Fusion Dance haha

this is legitimately my favorite episode in the entire series, i've watched it more times than any other. I love the fire nation, and its lore, and getting to see the source of Firebending like this was so cool. Seeing Zuko and Aang both grow from it was really great too.

This is one of my favorite episodes. I remember when I first saw the dragons, it had me on the edge of my seat as a kid. Such a beautiful scene.

6:45 I think you migt have Iroh may have used something like then and they are also very reminiscent of some of the moves Jeong Jeong used.
But ironically Jeong Jeong had a very pessimistic attitude to firebending after his experiences under Azulon and Ozai's rule, viewing it as naturally destructive, violent, militaristic, etc. In this episode they are exposed to a fresh interpretation of the "original," pure tradition of firebending, as Aang said its energy, life. It reminds me of how the modern fire nation schools teach a super disciplined, almost cult-like obedience to Ozai, dancing is forbidden, but Aang remembers that when he was growing up the fire nation had lots of dancing, showing that this isn't how it always was in times past

There's this Dolcalax one with this middle aged woman out hiking after having a number 2 that could inspire nightmares... usually, I like eye contact, but in some cases, I could do without. 💀
There's a lot of other good material out there(badly done ads) too, that people probably would relate to, especially in a reaction vid.

starting from about 3 episodes ago, until now your mic has some weird feedback whenever you talk there is a humming. It's coming through my sub so I'm sure you probably don't hear it on a phone, or headphones, or computer speakers but it's pretty noticeable with full range sound.
Try to remeber the dance forms and then watch Zuko's fights after this.

Sokka's personality went through a slight tonal shift over the 1st few episodes of the season. This reflects his original character design from the unaired pilot, which saw him being more abrasive and mistrustful of Aang. The reason they changed the character to the one we know and love was to better suit the talents of his voice actor Jack De Sena.
I'd like to watch that pilot, but I don't see it here on YT.
@@bunnytailsREACTS They don't want people seeing it, so you'd have to sail the seven seas, matey. Other ways in which it's different are Aang being voiced by a woman and Katara being called Kya. The purpose of the pilot was to be shown to focus groups, representing a typical episode in the middle of the season, to help Nickelodeon decide to approve the show or not.

Take off the Zuko glasses. She doesn't know about his redemption arc. Just that the only time she trusted him led to Aang's death soon after.
