Place VRay rectangle light from back side of your object. It is placed in such an angle that it makes a rim on the edge of the object. One tip. When you are placing your VRay rim light. Turn off all the other lights. . i.e. key and fill light
It doesn't matter if the light is one or they are in serial. VRay glare effect will work. If you can't see glare effect. Then in that case I'm mentioning some mistakes below

You have to make a background layer. Then add image from there. I'll also make a tutorial on it.

It doesn't matter if the light is one or they are in serial. VRay glare effect will work. If you can't see glare effect. Then in that case I'm mentioning some mistakes below
Mistake 1:
Go to render settings.
VRay tab
Color mapping rollout.
Make sure it is linear multiply or reinhard
Mistake 2:
Your serial light intensity multiplier value is low
