    Thanks a lot! That actually worked great! Printed out a 2nd gear with the same dimensions to check which gear teeth didn't fit anymore. Then I shaved a bit of those teeth off with a razor blade and assembled everything again. Now the playback is flawless again. Also great idea with the end sleeve! Dissassembly worked like a charm with that!

    Hi! Have similar problem on gr-df570 (clicking sound and tape twitch), but i found one tooth missing on the gear! Is it normal or not? My gear looks a little different than yours, so i cant decide whether the tooth is broken or not ) Besides, i dint found any broken tooth in the camera... To buy a new one is impossible, as you know...
    PS: Well. For now, i found 2 (!) broken gears (left and right) with the same problem: one missing tooth. OMG, what a plastic they are made?!. So i have to make a new tooth! And it's done! ))) Camcorder now is fully functional. Of course, i hear some unusual sounds in rewind mode, but it doesnt affect playback. There was A LOT of small parts work, but it's worth it in deed! And in my case, to make a new tooth was the only choice )))
    And thanks a lot for your guide!

      How did you maked a new tooth?

    • @Amberstargazerofearth
      @Amberstargazerofearth 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @petersavchenco9826 well ) I made the new tooth from a plastic bottle cap. It took a lot of pressicion work and some superglue. I don't believe this repair will be successful for a long time because of the poor quality of initial gear stuff. Those gears are badly damaged, fully cracked, alas!

    • @Tugoose
      @Tugoose 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Mugiwara1 I managed to undo some screws on the metal front plate and open it up enough to get my fingers in there comfortably. I did get the part off however my gear was really broken and despite trying to super glue it I couldn’t make it work again. Parts also seem very rare for mine. I might just have to go tapeless

    Couldn’t you use a couple small rubber bands and jb weld to repair ? Theory apply small amount of jb weld with a tooth pick to the cracked area then using rubber bands over the teeth on opposing side of the crack to close and hold the weld until cure. Could that work ? I’m not sure I completely understand the relationship or difference needed angle or gap to cut in the teeth with a knife to over come the cracked area.

    • @MrBimbosius
      @MrBimbosius  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think the crack under elastic band welding would become a problem again due to the renewed tension and maybe tear again.

    I have a JVC GR-DVL805 that is having a similar problem, the mechanism works, takes the cassette in, ejects, etc. but it is stuck in SafeGuard mode (E04 error specifically), I’ve done all of the needed reset etc. but am lost as to what to do now. What do you recommend?

  • @disway71
    @disway71 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    good hack but I believe the problem will eventually come back once the gears are completely broke. I am having the same issue but I decided to find a non-working cam and pull the good gear from there instead.

    • @leinrac6598
      @leinrac6598 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Did you get the gear from non-working Jvc ? In such a case I am wondering how long can the replacement last as I see that all gears have same problem. Or did you get the replacement from another Camcorder brand ?

      Simple logic: the plastic has cracked, and because of that, the spacing between the teeth of the wheel have changed a bit.
      By cutting some teeth around the cracked area the crack using a sharp hobbyknife, you can adjust the spacing.

  • @gotMylky
    @gotMylky 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I notice that when you put the wheel back in that you had dislodged the metal lever thing underneath it. I have tried to put mine back in but it makes some horrible cranking sound then errors and opens up again. Any ideas? :P

    • @loganmiller3167

      Found it! It sits bulging side down with the curve going around the shaft, the flat part should be towards bottom able to catch teeth, you’ll see a small indent with some wear!

      The crack has increased the distance between the teeth. With the knife I shorten the distance by cutting away a little at the outer edges of the two teeth left and right next to the crack.

    • @MrBimbosius
      @MrBimbosius  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The gap between the teeth and the gearwheel is increased by the crack, which means that the drive gearwheel can no longer engage properly and hops over what is then audible and the video image is disturbed
