    I’m a firefighter and I carry one of these on my gear for quite a while now. I use the black plug in mine to focus the beam to cut through smoke. These things are tough they are water proof and I’ve burned all the paint on the letters and they still go strong. Best light I’ve ever used recommend them 100%
    Also the reason the battery is in a pack is they sell a rechargeable battery for it

      Glad I wasn’t the only one who kept waiting for him to go outside at night to test them. Lol😂

    • @OvertonWindex
      @OvertonWindex 5 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      He tested the beam, he compared it to a regulat flashlight, and he compared all the inserts.
      That was a test... are you not tired of watching people shine flashlights at trees as if the camera sees exactly what your eye does?
      It will light up a tree in the dark... we all know this. It's easier and better to compare in a consistent lighting brighter area.

    As someone who loves your videos more than probably anyone one else on youtube and someone who watches way more than I should, I am obsessed with preparedness, knowing what you have and having quick access and all that, just a small suggestion for these videos, which are 10/10 keep up the good work, would be to either put a keyword in the title for videos like this or even make a separate playlist so they're all in one place or a quick search will bring them all up. Like I said I love the channel overall I watch at least three of your videos a day and plan to watch all 2300 over time. Much love from South Carolina brotha!!

    i was surprised that the black/amber plugged lights were brighter, I was under the impression that this is designed to reduce the too high part of the beam to only allow the evened out peripheral beam to shine so as not to cause reflection back in heavy smoke/fog conditions (hope this makes sense), perhaps the plugs also reduce standing wave cancellation/attenuation? (like wave ripples colliding)

    i like your choice and tend to agree with your pick i also keep all my emergency or prep tools and products to run on double A batteries that way i always know if i have a fresh supply of just that size i will have lights,radio, and a few other important things working in my home or possession most importantly in a lengthy power outage i also keep a candle survival lamp i use backpacking and that will allow me to cook or boil small quantities of water for purifying of course according to Google the best fuel for long term storage are diesel and propane ? i still treat my Deisel fuel anyway with a antigen and water removal conditioner as that’s what i use inmy Deisel truck a buddy of mine that works for one of the larger long distance freight companies saw the one i use and told me that’s what they use in their fleet semi trucks so i keep with it it’s sold in Walmart that makes it handy and easy to find and they generally have it in gallon containers too i’m not saying it’s the best but i know it works for me as my truck has always started no matter what the weather and when i do drain my separator i’ve never seen sludge or water as i always pour it into a clean clear glass jar,date it and store it on a shelf for a long time allowing everything to settle then i inspect it with a bright light and my nose not very scientific i guess but i was told the labs were pretty costly as i have a buddy that owns a big paving company and they send samples out on many of the machinery they own they of course use off-road or dyed fuel to save on taxes and i know he also uses that in his motor yacht which is legal to do he doesn’t take any chances on putting it in his trucks as inspectors very often stop by and do dip tests on those ! i’ve helped him inmy marina fuel up his boat with 55 gallon drums i used to get for him and used for myself for extended trips offshore in another fishing boat ! yep 110 miles off shore in the Atlantic Ocean there aren’t any gas stations so we needed to bring our own to get back to the dock after fishing for Tuna which incidentally is a 30 plus hour trip and often yields over a thousand pounds of fish for 6 guys yeah we eat sleep and live for fishing a couple of times a year it’s tiring but worth it IMO

    I’m a fan of Mag-Lite flashlights, but have been frustrated with how quickly D-cell batteries go dead just sitting in the car unused. They seem to handle Texas summers okay, but as soon as we get a random cold snap, they go completely dead.
    On the other hand, I’ve had a mini AA-powered Mag-Lite sitting in my glove box for years that still had some juice in it after going through extreme heat and cold winters. AA batteries seem to handle temperature extremes better than D-cells do.

    • @christophdollis1955
      @christophdollis1955 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Alkalines do that. Get lithium batteries for the cold. Seriously, they handle temperatures about 40 deg lower than alkalines can.

    You should definitely have rechargeable lithium batteries like cr123 or 18650 in at least one flashlight. Preferably an edc variety. The capacity per volume and weight on these batteries far exceeds other battery chemistries.
    However for something that will stay tucked away until it's needed like a survival light, AA lithium is the right choice. Keep a bunch of extras with the light, set a calendar alarm to change them out after 5 years, even though they supposedly have a 10-25yr life, just rotate them and use them.

    Question I know that using lights especially LED lights in smoke conditions the lights act as a mirror… i know the old school yellow lights reflect less and cut through the smoke more. If I was going for an old school yellow bulb would the survivor light with the amber drop in attachment be my best option or no?

  • @TheRealGunGuyTV
    @TheRealGunGuyTV 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Just a quick comment from a law enforcement and security instructor. If you are sufficiently concerned about the possibility of a violent threat that you put on body armor prior to investigating something at night,, it is not a good idea to put a great big brightly lit target on your chest. If the bad guy shoots, he will shoot at the light. You would be better off investigating with a handgun along with a handheld light. I suggest that you use the FBI method (hold the light to your side and high) while searching. You can transition easily to the Harries, neck index, or other method of light usage once you have identified a threat. I strongly suggest that you DO NOT use a weapon mounted light for searching. The same issue results. The light will be positioned directly in front of you. As I mentioned above, if the bad guys shoots at you, he will probably shoot at the light. I've served many felony warrants in my time. I NEVER searched with a light in front of me.

    We've used these flashlights at my fire department for years originally the incandescent bulb version and for about probably 10 years now the led version. They are pretty rugged and they provide a decent spot beam. The only flaw is the plastic bezel ring around the lens that crack from time to time and exposing the o-ring. Other than that, they live on our truck mounted chargers ready for work whenever we need them.

    Personally I’d switch to Lithium AA’s. They last forever and won’t leak and destroy your light or whatever they are in. Cost about 50% more though.

    Thanks for the suggestions on all of the lights, I picked up the first Streamlight Dualie for my wife, and I liked it so much, I'm getting another for myself. Speaking of lighting, what's up with the green backlighting in the recent videos? Reminds me of someone working behind a welding screen. I'm really looking forward to this series, because these are common sense items that many people wouldn't consider until it's too late. If anything, the Boy Scouts taught me to "Be Prepared." God bless y'all.

      I like the backlighting too. Maybe some red/white/blue?
      I have a friend who is a lighting technician (building and theatre design) I remember him saying Green was a bad stage light choice. I don't know why, but that's what he said. Which I thought was stupid because I like green...

    Loving the content but i must correct you.. At the start Metallica is written Metalica.. not so serious but as a big fan of that band it was like a stick in to eyeball :D Anyways really nice content and i really like the fact that you dont take sponsors and keep the content true to the viewers.. No marketing bullshittery or any shady things like 90% of tool/equipment rewiews and tests on youtube. Im really sorry about my poor english but greetings from Finland and may god bless your family and all of your loved ones !

    Check out the Dorcy 41-4750 for good and inexpensive lights - It won't roll away, super powerful, plastic body that won't damage any surfaces. Price is right to. It's been tested by ben at panbo (also a realist testor like Wranglestar). I never understood why flashlights were completely round after hearing that from Panbo. Compare this one!!!! You won't be let down. I don't make money from this. I just have had good luck with them. Cheers from NoVa.

    I see you use uco candle lamps the problem with them is you must buy uco candles they are expensive and not always to find BUT if you buy the South African Bushlite candle lamps they use household candles which are very inexpensive they are about the same size but are made sturdier and l think better (know you like US things ) but what is cheaper and a little better is also OK uco make on the candles.

    Can’t rely on government preferred brands for your own well being. Government picks things that are reliable & well priced, not the best money can buy. If I were to trust my life with a light it would not be a streamlight, they are well proven and tough but definitely not a Surefire. I have used both over the years and both have great warranty but surefire definitely lasts longer.

    So i have a good amount of food storage for the family but i keep thinking i should get chickens. The problem is i live in suburban NJ. There’s nothing like fresh eggs and if there was a situation where u needed a years or more worth of stored food that protein is crucial for survival. This was my long way of asking if u are considering Chickens and if not why?

    I have a bunch of free flash lights from harbor freight. And it doesn't have a stupid blinkey mode. And I have had them for years and I have left them out in the rain ☔ and put them through hell . And I have never changed the batteries. And there great and all still work. It is 10000 lumens.

  • @GlorifyGodInEverything
    @GlorifyGodInEverything 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    The reason I didn't buy is because of a response from someone on this light. "It’s pretty resistant to water but if it’s submerged for longer than a brief moment, you can expect some damage."
