I do think that the left index finger really makes the difference between professional and amateur clarinet players, besides pinky. To me, one of the squeaky sound hot spots during fast passages (accidentally hitting the G# key or such). I do need to do those Klose thing (which I did not spend time during my college days...). Hi Callie, I too had to slow these exercises down a lot. I am in my first year of learning and these are going to be very helpful. I did notice that you seemed to leave the right pinky and last finger down, Does that help to stabilize the clarinet when pressing A, any tips are gratefully received.
Thanks for the reminder tips. The finger execises were fun, but I had to slow them down! I still find it VERY hard to press A and keep the clarinet in balance without holding some keys down with my right hand, any ideas welcome

The A to B is the killer, going from one finger/key to nine in a jump.
