  • Just 42 miles West of The Villages is the quaint little town of Crystal River. Nestled next to Kings Bay, it is the jumping off point to explore crystal clear waters which for a brief time each Spring become the home of hundreds of Manatees. Ride along with Jerry and Mike as they paddle around these gentile giants. At 11 feet long, and over 1000 pounds, these amazing animals are a must see.

No manatees in Hawaii but oh my goodness what fun it was to watch them through your camera eye! Thank you so much for the lovely afternoon! Missed you Linda but loved the sharp filming and the voice overs are so calming to listen to and watch . You have a great "radio voice", Jerry, so use the voice over style more with your outings in the future. Excellent work and Linda, you are a dear one no matter what!

That was incredible. In the beginning of the video I was agreeing with Linda about gators. You did such a good job by the middle of the video….. I was like Oh…..maybe i could snorkel…….then reality kicked in and I was on a big kayak like yours. Thanks for having fun & showing us all your adventures. This was very cool & educational. Thank you for taking us along. Very nice video, Jerry. We were in SW Florida in late October of 2015 and went to Manatee Park in the Ft. Myers area but it was actually too early for the appearance of those magnificent creatures. We certainly haven't given up and hopes are that a future visit to friends in Sarasota, we'll be able to check that off of the bucket list. Bruce and Gwen from Jersey. 👍👍👍

FYI, having worked for an insurance company as a claims adjuster, (one of my many hats), you can rest assured if something is rated for 400 lbs it will hold at least 450. Another thing, tables, coffee tables, etc, will often hold the weight of a person because the designer/manufacturer assumes somebody sometime will stand on it. Now, this goes for quality products, not the cheap crap made in China etc., but the US probably has testing standards for that as well. I’m a safe not sorry kind of gal. I don’t test this. What a great time. Thanks for sharing.

Oh, there used to be an old grist mill next to the river. It was either near Crystal Springs or it could have been on the river near Homosassa Springs, FL. I'm sure it gone now, but when I was a young girl, we swam in the river, then ate lunch at the old mill restaurant. Late 1960s.

That was funny with your buddy in your wife's jacket! Nice day on the water! If you drive over to west palm beach power plant, 100's stack up in the discharge. Have great memories in the 70's as a kid swimming with and feeding them my grandma's iceberg lettuce in intercoastal over by north palm beach! No go pro's back then!

Thank you so much for sharing! Wow! I loved it so much! What a beautiful, beautiful, place! I probably will never get to see these sweet creatures in person so I really appreciate seeing them through your eyes. Linda, now that you know it's gator free I think you would love going next time - maybe even on a bigger tour boat. The Manatees did look happy, safe and content. I'm disappointed to hear their numbers are as low as 6000. That doesn't sound like much to me given the size of the oceans. They deserve continued respect and protection - hopefully their numbers will grow.
