Sorry for the delay in uploading this video. We hope this helps you in your world travel planning, whether for 1 month or 12. Safe travels and many blessings in 2024. John and Bev retirementtravelers.com/
Thanks so much for the kind words and it was such a pleasure meeting you. We love great conversations with nice Uber drivers and you were the best! Happy journeys, John and Bev retirementtravelers.com/
Happy New Year!!! This is your SWA airlines Flight attendant. I am soooo happy that I met you!!!!! 2024 is my travel year!!!!!! YOU HAVE INSPIRED ME SOOOO MUCH!!!
Happy new year!! So great to hear from you. SWA flight attendants are the best. 🥰 Hope you have a fantastic 2024. Keep us posted. Safe travels, John and Bev retirementtravelers.com/
You could save even more on food by, on some days, making lunch your primary meal of the day. Snack for breakfast, large lunch, snack for dinner. It’s plenty of food.
Great suggestion. The reason we do breakfast is that it is included in most hotels that we stay. It is a "free" meal for us. We try to go as late as possible (usually 10:30 or 11:00) to kind of make it a "brunch". If we were staying at an apartment with kitchen, we would do what you are saying. Safe travels, John and Bev retirementtravelers.com/
Thank you again for an informative presentation. My gut tells me that your costs ($10,000/month high cost country, $5,000/month low cost country is spot on). My wife and I live in Switzerland and are not retired. When we holiday, we travel to mostly to very high cost countries (Switzerland, Germany, Austria, Italy, France, England, Holland, Norway, Spain). I keep good records. Our costs are about $500/day/couple. This includes everything. We indulge ourselves slightly by traveling long haul high speed train routes in first class-exception: we are heading to London in a few weeks and the Eurostar first class tickets were crazy expensive. We eat two meals a day: breakfast and lunch. In the countries we travel to, lunch is generally the bargain meal. In the evening, we grab something light (bread, cheese, fruit),
We travel slowly and stay always minimum 1 month at every place, mostly much longer. We go always to low-cost countries. Packing is not an issue for us because we both have less as 10 kg stuff, but we just like to stay long at one place. Our budget is just 750 euro per month for two people and we don't have the feeling we can't do everything we like. We always have a nice room, we enjoy every day and can eat everything we like, ... We're always surprised from these 'big budget' - althought in our eyes - from other travellers.
Great job! We’ve never heard of two people traveling the world for a year on less than $10k. That’s $13 a day per person! You should write a book! Way to go! John & Bev
I am 73 and just went to London and Paris for 3 weeks for 2000 dollars including airfare. I have coffee at my AirBNB and fast until the evening, and got all my food from outdoor markets and cooked at home. One luxury was a18 euro pastry from Cedric Grolet. I love Airbnb and the other apt apps. Enjoying your videos. I love the metro and buses.
We retired 7 years ago and have become traveling pet sitters. We have drastically cut our accommodation costs by trading pet sitting for free accommodations. We get to live like locals in our dream destinations and are able to spends weeks instead of days. It has truly changed our lives!
Glad to hear you have found a lifestyle that enables you to see the world on a reasonable budget. Happy journeys, John and Bev retirementtravelers.com/
My spouse and I have travelled to 30 countries over the last 30 months. We typically stay in a community on average 14 days. We travelled for a 54 weeks continually during Covid and it was cheap but we could only pick our pick countries when they opened up and they each demanded a test. We spent an average $5,800 month. That included 6 self-guided week-long hiking trips. When we were gone for a year we rented our home.
Thanks for sharing your experiences and costs. Much appreciated. Thanks for following along with us on our journey. Safe travels and many blessings in 2024, John and Bev retirementtravelers.com/
We are slow travelers but not due to budget. We travel slowly because we don’t want to pack/move every week. The savings for a monthly stay is just an added bonus.
As a solo traveler, I love to have lunch out at a busy cafe-it makes me feel connected. Same with half day group tours-tradeoffs pricewise but I find essential for my mental health! I’ve have to look for your Airbnb story-I’ve been finding great deals (albeit shoulder season) and great locations. However, staying for a month is my other strategy. I will pay $1700 for a month in Tuscany (Montepulciano), March/April, for a top rated airbnb. You guys are great…as Rick Steves’ says “keep on traveling!”
Yes, I really agree with making friends and being able to stay with them on visits to their countries. I have mixed hotel stays and staying with friends when I travel. I even offer to fix something for them. It helps strengthen the relationship.
Your comments about vaccinations are bang on. One example - We opted for rabies shots because we were traveling in remote areas where we couldnt access an antidote if bitten. That shot cost us several hundred each. Vaccinations must be a part of the budget!
I would also suggest signing up for hotel loyalty emails. We saved 30% (over £1000) on our first choice central London hotel by taking advantage of their Black Friday special 😊
I spent two months in 2017 and went all the way around the world. It cost me $8000 or $133 per day and most of my money went to airfare. Airbnb was way cheaper back then so 90% of my lodging costs were Airbnb. I’m currently planning international trips and hotels are my main option. I spent five weeks in Europe then three weeks going eastward. Back then Americans, Germans, and Chinese were the main kinds of people I encountered besides locals. I got zero vaccinations and never got sick nor have been sick since then. I loved the Paris subway the best. Your advice is spot on. Thanks.
Great video thanks. It is interesting to see how much it costs doing it this way. I also follow Grounded Life Travel and Brian and Carrie. Both are slow travellers and Brian and Carrie are budget travellers. Their costs are - on average - USD 4k and USD 2.5k per month. I guess your way sits between slow travelling and outright holidaying which is always very expensive because of lack of time. Thanks again 🎉
Thanks for sharing. There is no right or wrong to travel, you just have to do what makes sense for you situation. This way is working for us right now. Safe travels, John and Bev retirementtravelers.com/
We have a light breakfast, a nice lunch and a snack for dinner. Lunch portions are the right size and then we have no guilt at having an ice cream cone for dinner!
Thank you Bev and John. We have been traveling since last April. We have watched many of your videos and are streamlining our travels based on your expertise. We love the Travel School videos and recently revamped our packing/packs (80L to the 55L Osprey) because we want to travel lighter. We cant thank you enough. We sold our home in San Diego and receive a few pensions so we would categorize our budget as mid-range, with luxury splurge’s occasionally included.
That's great. Glad you are enjoying our channel and website. Hopefully our paths will cross someday on the road. Safe travels, John and Bev retirementtravelers.com/
Santorini is October or November is very cold and you are risking the ferries being canceled because of high winds. Santorini off shoulder is better in April. It’s less crowded, windy and you do need a sweater but much less cold than the months you suggested.
Great video! We do 3-4 one month trips per year having downsized drastically in order to afford to do so. We concentrate on one geographic area for each trip which keeps the cost of air travel down somewhat. Of course, air travel has really bitten into our travel budget in the last two years. (Would love to see more on ways to keep the costs down!) Experiences over possessions is a great thing.
Thanks so much for following along with us. Glad you found the video helpful. We plan on doing more videos on air transportation, lodging, etc. Safe travels, John and Bev retirementtravelers.com/
We've gotten our teeth cleaned in many places, we've had some routine care on the road, and even an ER visit. We'll be doing a video on this soon. We will admit, the language barrier is an issue at times. We also do routine care when we visit our families back home. We usually go home twice a year. Thanks for asking! John & Bev www.retirementtravelers.com
Bev and John. You both are fantastic. As an avid lifelong traveller(64 countries and counting..), I so appreciate your lifestyle and philosophy on focusing on experiences versus accumulating things. Your passion to help others travel more efficiently(without charging for all of this advice) is inspiring and your personal relationship with each other seems to ooze with respect, humor, and love. I have just hit financial independence and retired early at 58. My current plan is to travel about 40% of the time, maximizing the off-peak shoulder travel seasons. Your yearly budget seems spot on as the budget for my plans is proportionate for what you detail. If any of your return trips to the US take you to NYC, you have a place to stay! Otherwise, I will be closely tracking you and hope we wind up in some destination at the same time. Thanks again for all the efforts you make to create this content.
Thanks so much for the kind words and thanks for following along with us. Appreciate the offer for NYC and hope you have some wonderful travels in 2024. Safe travels, John and Bev retirementtravelers.com/
Living in Thailand and as a couple traveling around Southeast Asia, I don’t know how or what you would do to spend more than $3,000/month. Most months we are at $2000-2500 living well, eating out 100% of the time. As far as vaccinations, we are about 10 years younger than you and after talking with our doctor about vaccinations and all their side affects(everything including aspirin has side affects) we chose to trust our healthy immune systems but that’s a personal choice obviously. Keep up the great videos.
Thanks for sharing your experience. Staying in Southeast Asia is probably keeping the costs down more. Great job. Hope you are enjoying our channel and website. Safe travels, John and Bev retirementtravelers.com/
Whole video I kept thinking "who is sitting on the couch behind you??" haha!! Great video as always!! I'm a solo female traveler and planning a year-long (or more) travel in about 4 years. This helps me anticipate my expenses and plan ahead!
Thanks and that is funny! That mirror was messing with us during filming. Good luck with your travel planning and let us know if we can help. Safe travels, John and Bev retirementtravelers.com/
Your videos are so well done. As full-time slow-mads now entering our 4th year, we find that our travel costs are generally about what we anticipated (about $100K a year) with one glaring, off-the-charts exception: entertainment. We find we are willing to spend a little more for good tickets at concerts, smaller tours, and one-of-a-kind experiences (e.g. Formula One race in Monza, Bruce Springsteen in Barcelona, 18 Fringe shows in Edinburgh!). We doubled our budget to $5000 for this line-item this year. We plan to off-set by planning 3-4 weeks more of pet-sitting annually, bringing our total unpaid accommodations via pet-sitting to 12 weeks. It’s fun and keeps out budget in line. But, yes. . . $10K a month in high-cost countries is about right. The best thing about owning no real-estate and being in our go-go years like you (also no grandchildren or living parents) is that if we need to, we can reduce our expenses in a heartbeat. We also eat twice a day and when we eat out, we always split an entree. Every flight and every hotel room this year will be paid via credit card points! Every year we’re getting better at this. Live Your Life. Live Your Life.
great advice and confirmation of a life I have planned (to start in a year). I appreciate the depth of your comment and reinforcing John and Bev. I am interested in your credit card point comment. I am assuming you use the same card for everything. Do you go with a generic travel card or do you have one tied to a hotel chair or airline? Any recommendations on best way to take advantage of the credit card points?
We use the Chase Sapphire Reserve for almost everything and then transfer the points to mostly World of Hyatt for free hotel stays. There is a link in the description for the Chase credit card. Safe travels, John and Bev retirementtravelers.com/
@@RetirementTravelers I jump-started by getting an IHG card and keep it refueled with points by transferring from Chase as well. They also offer opportunities to buy points at a great discount. We like the IHG properties so far.
With a name like Leapintothewind, you’re our number one target audience!!! Thank you and we’re glad you like our school. It’s a labor of love!!!! John & Bev www.retirementtravelers.com
Oh, my gosh! I LOVE YOUR VIDEOS SO MUCH!!! Your presentations are so informative, succinct, and compassionate. I'll keep dreaming and planning! Short trips for now, but i look forward to the longer ones and enjoying shoulder season. Thank you!
I finally got around to analyzing our expenses for our winter trip. We spent on average $8900 a month. This is ALL of our expenses, including health insurance, storage for our van back home etc. We are not budget travelers and for much of the winter we rented a car. I feel like your ballpark of $5K to $10K is a good. I think that there are a lot of people out there that dream about world travel but, think they can't afford it. In reality without the expenses of owning a home you can.
Thank you for not glossing over numbers, without large numbers of exclusions and caveats. A LOT of nomads seem to deem many expenses "it depends" and as a result exclude them. Problem is many of these expenses are significant and still applicable to virtually every traveler, even if they DO depend. Appreciate the honesty, keep up the good work!
Our pleasure! Thanks for following along and hope you enjoy our channel and website. Safe travels and many blessings in 2024, John and Bev retirementtravelers.com/
The link in the description for budget your trip can help with that. Basically most of Europe, US, Canada, New Zealand and a few other places are high cost. Rest are much lower. John and Bev
Wow, so helpful! Thank you for being so transparent about all of these things. I'm guessing 'special' things like taking your whole family on a Disney cruise are not included?
I have been using this software since you posted it and it is outstanding. Thanks Bev! The free version no longer offers the “ date timeline” column as of July 2024 but there is an easy work around - simply enter this info in a text field. I created 2 text fields: a date start and a date end field. In addition to calclate my exposure for trip cancellation/ interuption insurance I have added 3 text fields that show: date cancel deadline; $ exposure for cancellation; $ exposure for interruption. I then buy insurance accordingly. Thanks!
I am loving your master class so far!! I hope you will address two topics of interest to me: travelers diarrhea and jet lag. How do you minimize these issues? Thanks for all you do!! 💜
Thanks for following along with us. Much appreciated. Those are both great suggestions, but we flunked both of them so far after arriving in India. 🤣 Safe travels, John and Bev retirementtravelers.com/
We are retired tourist travelers, cruising more than anything with 2 big 30-45 day trips per year. Then a week or so hanging out somewhere. Love your videos. I'm fortunate to have learned the hobby of points & miles so our flights are always biz class on miles & hotels are always with loyalty perks. It's amazing how much this type of travel can save you. I don't know that you mentioned which travel credit card you are actually using. The $350 fee, didn't give it away. I will check your site to learn more. Stay safe & if you're ever in or near Santa Barbara CA or Hatillo Costa Rica let us know.
Thanks so much. Glad you are enjoying our channel. We use the Chase Sapphire Reserve and love it. We did a video about our Favorite Travel credit card last year and share all the reasons we like it. Happy journeys, John and Bev retirementtravelers.com/
Lots of great advice right there J&B. We've also had a couple of international "pet sitting" jobs, because we're retired and flexible it's a "win-win", plus we like to spend time getting to know our host community. Have a great travel year 2024.
Thanks for sharing and glad you found it helpful. We haven't tried the "pet sitting" yet, but it does sound interesting. Safe travels, John and Bev retirementtravelers.com/
Please follow thru with the healthcare questions/plans/info. This is vital to US travelers. I'm also curious if European traveler costs are less, a huge generalization but I think they are more frugal and separately have access to cheaper international travel healthcare plans. Thanks again.@@RetirementTravelers
Bev snd John, just truly enjoy your channel etc! We used to travel quite a bit, tho unlike you, not as economically as we could have (cruises, guided tours etc). But medical issues have diminished our mobility and ability to go-go. Did not know about Bev's medical issue. Maybe we need to reassess our travel capability! Perhaps not travel internationally, but here in the states: maybe we need to toss our fears away and just do it...
Thanks and so glad you are enjoying our channel. Love the idea of tossing away fears and going for it. Safe travels and many blessings in 2024, John and Bev retirementtravelers.com/
I love you both more with every video. You're so wonderfully generous with your information and you present it so transparently and clearly and in a way that makes me feel like I could do what you're doing. Thank you for another fantastic video. ❤
Thank you so much for your generosity. This video is very informative. Fabulous! I can’t wait for the next one. Please post a few more daily photos… safe travels!
Great job on the summary pricing and planning appreciate it. Can you do a new separate video or maybe you have one on the best and most efficient way of capturing all your costs to make them deductible in the USA?
Thanks. Probably best to work with your tax professional on deductibility issues. We have an accountant that we work with. Happy journeys, John and Bev
Thank you guys for being transparent with the costs. I know it’s not easy sharing finances with the world, but it provides us with an example to see what’s possible. What’s the red fleece John wears?
We were hesitant for several reasons but in the end we want to share our knowledge and that’s something we’d want to know when considering a big trip. John wears a Patagonia R1 Fleece Pullover. He’s had it FOREVER and it just won’t wear out! The logo is long gone too! 😎 Bev
We have not done a video on this, but thanks for the suggestion. We plan to have saveral months of Travel School videos coming. Safe travels, John and Bev retirementtravelers.com/
Bev & John… THANK YOU so much for sharing your budget range with us. Money is a touchy subject for some people so thank you for putting yourself out there. My husband and I look forward to starting our retirement travel adventure in 2025! The planning had already began!
Glad it was helpful and thanks for following along with us. There is no right way or wrong, we are just sharing how we do it. Safe travels and many blessings in 2024, John and Bev retirementtravelers.com/
You guys are the best!!!! Love these videos, learn so much and I share them or tell people about you two all the time! I also purchase through your store whenever I can. Thank you for being there. Would love a new packing video with your new bags - I think I noticed different clothes in the photo with your viewer friends and you both look great!!!
Thanks for sharing!! You are the best. That really helps us. Our packing is essentially the same. John did get new pants and a shirt (for dress up nights 🤣) but he only has 1 each. Safe travels, John and Bev retirementtravelers.com/
Whether it's $200k or $120k $50k a year spending to travel, one must keep in mind, in order to spend that much, your personal account or portiffilio needs to have an additional 25 to 30% for taxes (federal plus many states have state taxes) If one spends $100, they actually had to make at least $125 to be able to spend that $100
Great video as usual, Guys! Lots of helpfull information for travelers. I am parttime working/ parttime travel person 🙂Always love to come home after interesting, but sometimes exhausting travel. Been to midleeast, Africa, Europe, Australia, Japan, you name it but... ther is no better place than being home and sleep in your own bed... IN regards to vaccinations: yellow fever for Kenia was difficult. I had sideeffects, lasting for about a month... (like minor encephalitis) caution for Bev with MS... Good Luck!
John and Bev, loved the video/s they are so informative! We are just starting out in our journey as retirement travelers so it's great to get your guidance ... thank you both so much!
Thanks so much. We want to help people travel and live their best retirement lives. Safe travels and many blessings in 2024, John and Bev retirementtravelers.com/
Excellent summaries of costs and suggestions for full-time travelers. When young I had an art/design prof who said...plan your project costs then double it.wise recommendation for a newbie. As experience took hold, we refined it to 20-25%. We never had a monetary shock we couldn't handle. We applied that philosophy to travel. Continued best wishes on your travels...look forward to future classes. 👍
Thanks so much for following along with us. Things usually always cost more than you expect. Glad you are enjoying the new Travel School. Safe travels, John and Bev retirementtravelers.com/
We are planning a video on that topic in the Travel School series, so stay tuned. Thanks for the suggestion. Safe travels, John and Bev retirementtravelers.com/
I am so thankful for you guys!!!! We are trying to paint our picture of what we want early retirement to look like. How do you have a place of residency?- to vote, calculate taxes, etc? I love your ideas and how you do things!!!
Thanks for watching. Absolutely no problem maintaining our residency in Florida. We have a driver's license, registered to vote, use a mail service, pay taxes, etc Happy journeys, John and Bev retirementtravelers.com/
@@RetirementTravelers Oh, I just got the answer from another video and clicked on the link for the mailing service. This is great!!! They give you a street address. Y'all are answering questions we haven't even thought to ask yet. Wow- Thank you!!!!
What a fantastic video!!!! We just went into a deep dive of our Nomadic travel (we start this September) and it’s so informative to hear how you manage your budget. We feel great about ours, but now with J&B info, feeling even better! Hope to see you out there 1 day ❤️

John and Bev: Thank you for a very informative piece. Great work. I wonder if you can have a video in the future to share your experiences on personal safety when you visited less developed/safe countries.
Great suggestion! We have a number of interesting videos in the series and we will add this one. Thanks. Safe travels, John and Bev retirementtravelers.com/
Great idea. Thanks. The timing of travel impacts costs, crowds, enjoyment, packing, etc. It is on the list. Happy trails, John and Bev retirementtravelers.com/
Great video! We're also big on shoulder seasons. In addition to paying lower prices and having fewer crowds, we feel better about our impact on residents if we're helping even out an otherwise lumpy work year/economy.
This was really inspiring…thanks for sharing. I am currently planning my GogoRetirement. I don’t think we will travel full time…but i like your style of travel…these travel Tips are great. Can I ask how much time you spend each week on your TH-cam? With travel planning, research and recording, editing etc you must be quite busy! Do you have down days each week or ever just get tired of it all?
Thanks so much for following along with us. We work very hard on TH-cam, editing, travel planning, etc. We do take down days when needed and truly love what we are doing. Happy trails, John and Bev retirementtravelers.com/
I am so grateful to find your channel and since the first video I watched I subscribed immediately. You guys are so informative and inspirational!!! We want to one day do what you do and your channel is providing all the answers we are looking for. I have a 5 years plan to retire and starting the Swedish death cleaning. I agree with every word you said and I've been sharing your videos with my husband because he's not a season traveller and you have convinced him to travel and live abroad! Traveling slower has many advantages, including being cheaper. No argument at all, it just isn't our objective right now. We are trying to see as much of the world as possible in our "go-go" years AND grow our Retirement Travelers business. Those two things make trying to make it as cheap as possible not our objective. We plan to do exactly what you are saying in 5-10 years. Hope you are enjoying our channel. John and Bev retirementtravelers.com/
Great information! It is relatively easy to travel via public transportation, as there is so much information available online. When we stayed in Iceland the hotel gave us an unlimited free pass to use on public transportation. Hotels sometimes have perks like this and it is worth asking. Safe travels! --M
Glad it was helpful! We agree that public transportation is great. Great suggestion on asking the hotels. Safe travels, John and Bev retirementtravelers.com/
@@Katrina-ps6jn Sure! It is Reykjavik Natura. When we went in 2014 the hotel was owned by Iceland Air. Not sure if they still own it. We booked a package deal with Iceland Air that included flights, hotel, seeing the northern lights via boat, and the Blue Lagoon hot springs. Enjoy!

You both are an inspiration!! I've been following your channel for a year and I think you are living a great life. I've learned so much from your channel. I retired 18 months ago and figuring out how to do some traveling... not as extensive as you, but maybe a part time expat a few months each year. Just wanted to let you know how much I enjoy hearing about your travels. Blessings to you both!
Hi Bev & John- great video re: how to do it! Also have MS and want to see Ireland & Scotland & play golf! Fingers crossed. You’ll are very inspiring👏 Blessings
Thank you so much for sharing your experiences and costs! I'm sure you'll get to this in your vaccinations video--but before we went to Thailand, we decided which vaccines we needed to get beforehand and which we'd get there (if we'd have a couple low-risk weeks for whatever we were vaccinating against--Japanese encephalitis was that category for us). The travel clinic there was way, way, way cheaper and super-confidence-inspiring. Also, in the U.S., some vaccines need to be gotten at a pharmacy and are covered there (e.g., shingles), and others are only covered at a doctor's office even though a pharmacy will give it (e.g., Hep A, if memory serves); and vaccines needed only for travel (not in the recommended list in the U.S.) aren't covered at all. Confusing but key to figure out!
Thanks for following along and the vaccinations can be confusing. You bring up great points about getting different vaccines in different places. It can be confusing. There were a couple that we could have gotten overseas, but it was a live vaccine and we had concerns with Bev's MS, so we got the one in the US. We didn't realize they were sometimes different vaccines around the world. Oh well, thanks for sharing your experiences and safe travels, John and Bev retirementtravelers.com/
@@RetirementTravelers Ooo, definitely, live vaccines and any autoimmune disorder, gotta be really careful & have trusted medical folks. Yeah, the different vaccine types surprised us too.

thank you for the tips! I was wondering if you have already done a video regarding staying in Europe for a long time. I am a US passport holder. I am thinking once I retire, I am going to stay in Europe for a year and move to different European countries. My concern is isn't there a limit about how long you can stay within Schengen countries? Do I need to go to non Schengen countries and back to Schengen country? But is there a limit of 180 days to Schengen countries per year? Thanks!
Yes, there are strict rules that apply to US passport holders. You are allowed 90 days in a 180 day period. This is rolling. There are a handful of countries you can visit that are not in the zone, but that number is getting smaller as Romania, Bulgaria, and Cypress are joining soon. If you spent a year in Europe, you could definitely figure out a plan. We have some blogs from our time in the Balkan Countries as well as other European countries, so check those out on our site. retirementtravelers.com/world-countries/europe-travel-guides Thanks for asking! John & Bev PS HAVE A GREAT TRIP! Let us know how it goes!
Hello John and Bev, My wife and I have enjoyed many of your videos so we have vicariously lived through you. We have traveled for a month at a time and have enjoyed the slower aspect of that. I want to visit countries that are more what my wife calls 3rd world countries like Vietnam, Cambodia and India. But I wife doesn’t. We have visited Thailand and Bali. To her the pure heat, humidity and dirty infrastructure is a bit much. I’m looking for recommendations. Countries like Malaysia are like year around heat.

I’m the 1970-1980’s when I was an over the road trucker I ate one large meal either at breakfast or lunch then snacks for evening meal.
In the evening, we grab something light (bread, cheese, fruit),
Thanks for the kind words and sharing your experiences.

Great idea to rent your home for a year! I guess you rented it furnished? Tips for storing one's stuff when the house is rented?
$175,000 in 30 months is pretty wild. Not sure how many people can afford that 👍
I agree, which I is why I felt lucky.

Thanks.

Great video! We do 3-4 one month trips per year having downsized drastically in order to afford to do so. We concentrate on one geographic area for each trip which keeps the cost of air travel down somewhat. Of course, air travel has really bitten into our travel budget in the last two years. With all the traveling, how to you handle routine healthcare? (Annual checkups, testing, teeth cleaning, etc.)

Me, too. That mirror really threw me off there for a few minutes😊
Thanks guys. Hopefully our paths will cross someday. We love your activities.

I feel like your ballpark of $5K to $10K is a good. I think that there are a lot of people out there that dream about world travel but, think they can't afford it. In reality without the expenses of owning a home you can.

Thanks!

Whether it's $200k or $120k $50k a year spending to travel, one must keep in mind, in order to spend that much, your personal account or portiffilio needs to have an additional 25 to 30% for taxes (federal plus many states have state taxes)

Thanks so much for following along with us. We work very hard on TH-cam, editing, travel planning, etc. We do take down days when needed and truly love what we are doing.

I’d find it more appealing to go to fewer places and stay longer, like a month or two. That would be cheaper, wouldn’t it?
Traveling slower has many advantages, including being cheaper. No argument at all, it just isn't our objective right now. We are trying to see as much of the world as possible in our "go-go" years AND grow our Retirement Travelers business. Those two things make trying to make it as cheap as possible not our objective. We plan to do exactly what you are saying in 5-10 years. Hope you are enjoying our channel.

Safe travels,

Could you please share the hotel name in Iceland?
@@Katrina-ps6jn Sure! It is Reykjavik Natura. When we went in 2014 the hotel was owned by Iceland Air. Not sure if they still own it. We booked a package deal with Iceland Air that included flights, hotel, seeing the northern lights via boat, and the Blue Lagoon hot springs. Enjoy!
@Anonymous-One1 Thank you for the details!
@@Katrina-ps6jn No problem! Good luck if you end up visiting Iceland. We thoroughly enjoyed our trip and may end up going back.

Thank you so much for following along with us. Glad you are enjoying our channel and website.

Oh well, thanks for sharing your experiences and safe travels,
John and Bev

@@RetirementTravelers Ooo, definitely, live vaccines and any autoimmune disorder, gotta be really careful & have trusted medical folks. Yeah, the different vaccine types surprised us too.

Oh my - it occurs to me here in tax season that you two can expense quite a bit of your travel because of your ‘retirement advice business’ online!
And Thank you so much for the genuinely helpful information in all your videos.
Brilliant 👍😊😊
You are correct. We are working very hard to provide great content and hopefully provide some additional retirement income. The positive comments that we are helping people make it all worthwhile.

thank you for the tips!

If you are in our neck of the woods we would love to have you. We live in Orange County, California.
Peace to your travels,

Thank you for your content. Helpful, educational value, positive vibe, you Guys are so nice good people. Hope you visit Poland, my home country :)
We were just in Poland in early October. We visited Warsaw and Krakow. We plan to return, it was one of our favorite places. Thanks for commenting! John & Bev www.retirementtravelers.com
Oh, nice, when you next time visit Poland, I recommend visiting Poznan, I would love to show you around if you wish
Sorry if this has been asked already but which are lo cost countries and which are the hi cost, in your opinion. Thanks!
Here is a website we use that will give you a good idea by country. It is isn't perfect, but directionally correct for costs.
