In another video, I spoke about your memoir as a hero’s journey. It proved to be a popular video. In this video, I discuss how to apply this knowledge of the theory of the hero’s journey to actually structuring your memoir according to the flow of hero’s journey.
First, let me say, that, while the hero’s journey is appropriate for many memoirs-and memoir parts, it is not appropriate for all memoirs. A memoir in which you wish to portray your ethnic culture, for instance, would not use a hero’s journey model, but if your memoir is about a struggle, the hero’s journey model would be just what you need.
If your memoir is about difficulty, about transformation, about surviving and thriving, your memoir ought to be written as a hero’s journey.
