I’m a big F1 fan and think they’ve captured a lot of these strategies really well. You’re videos are really excellent. No messing about, clear concise descriptions. You’ve got a great style and I really appreciate you taking the time to learn and then share your tips. Thanks buddy.
I would like to do that too, but I play Williams and if I am on lower driver setting than medium, I can't keep up with even Vettel. Williams Cars are really lacking behind. 2.6 to 3.0 seconds behind first per lap is common. If there is a under-/overcut strategy for that case?
@@Krendor123 What I do to keep up with ferrari and others as AM is to run deploy ers on parts of the track where I’m much slower and then harvest on the drs straight, but I don’t how much slower Williams is compared
If you and your opponent are in traffic, something else to consider is where you'll come out after you pit. I don't know if the game shows you this, but the way to work it out is to add the TOTAL pit time to your current time. Then you can look at whether you're likely to come out into clean air or if you'll be in traffic. In theory, each lap you do in clean air while your opponent is in traffic, will open up the gap to your opponent after they pit.
I'm using Alpine. This was the first time I was ever leading a race. Alonso in 1st (& in Spain,) Ocon in 2nd. I got Ocon holding up cars, giving Alonso a 6 second lead. Then Ocon runs off track and lands in 15th. NBD, he did his job. I pit before everyone and land back in 1st with big lead after they all pit. Lap 40/66 Alonso locks tires and slams the wall, retiring from the race and the sport. Piastri better get ready to take over Car 1.
at 3:00, you say Charles could come in and switch to Fresh Mediums, no he couldn't. Regulations dictate you must use two (or more) different dry compound types, and since he was on mediums, it means he needs to get on either Hards or Softs
Undercut doesn't really make a difference in this game the pace deficit of the used tires still doesn't work properly unless one of the tires are below 30%. If you are faster, switching places with the other driver constantly is not a problem at all. The only thing you have to do in this position is save ers and push out of the drs range in a couple of laps which you did pull off and were out of the drs range of Leclerc here. You were out of drs and clear but you still pitted for an undercut and acted like it is so necessary that you couldn't do it any other way.
I'm new to this FM1 2022 but love it and am addicted already but have been suffering from the DRS to and fro with Le Clerc....cant wait to try your method...it makes complete sense THANKS!
A lot of the controls I'm learning through videos like yours so thank you. It doesn't explain very well at the start but I'm going to try these techniques in my alpine team. Thanks again for the advice. Didn't realise you could change the tyres on the fly, i thiught it qas set and thats it. 😂
On my McLaren save I'm regularly using overcuts instead of undercuts to great effect. Learned it by watching a Let's Play series with Alpine where the TH-camr used overcuts and 1 stop strategies to really outperform expectations.
Are drs trains that much of a pain in this game? Ive had ocon climb through a 5 car drs train in under 2laps before just by telling him to use his overtake button.
I always use undercut against my own teammate, be it on F1 22 or even Motorsport Manager, if the no.2 driver has better setup. I learnt it on Motorsport Manager 3 on mobile on my 2nd race in the lowest tier race. I even go as drastic as double stacking after I banned refuelling.
My problem is that i have a slower car so when i do this strategy they recover the trn seconds by the end of the race and overtake me with like 2 Laos to go
They should add more things to do in the game. I have finished the 1st season and I'm some races in the 2nd one and I'm starting to feel like it's getting a bit repetitive. It would be fun if they would add some things like F2, sprint weekends or some "minigames" like the setup one.
Great video mate, and i love your content, sub since yesterday (iknow right). How would this play out a few positions down. I am currently playing AlfaR, and doing really good. But i have ended up in a few scenarios like this with Botas in P5/P6 battling Ham, tradigt places with him in the DRS zones, also with Zhou furtherback. DRS trains are fun but also a bit anoying. Also i found what have to be a bug, or i just don't know how the ERS is working. But i have no issues running on harvest mode for a few laps and still overtake cars with harvest mode on, for me neutral and harvest mode are more or less the same, still emptying and recharging the battery.
I think the ERS is confusing a lot of people, myself included. I think someone in another video commented that harvesting and deployment are limited each lap? When you cross the line, those bars reset? (Or something???)
@@MLB9000 That's right theres a limit to how much can be stored and used in each lap so sometimes setting to harvest wont charge the battery sometimes until you cross the line again. That said I still have no idea how to use it properly 😅
@@MLB9000 Hi Bellmason, yes that sound like what i am experiencing. I find using mosly neutral mode, and switching to overtake gives me the most out of the ERS atm. And running using more fuel when i am behind cars/DRS. Don't know if thats a feature or a bug though, but i find running on more fuel when i am behind cars acctually saves me more fuel than using standard fuel mode. (exception when i am in clean air)
@@0uey Yes i know, but not to that effect? Iknow that F1 engines are among the most effective engines ever engineered, but i have a hard time believing that running on highest engine mode 20+ laps would net you + 10 laps. Thats an amazing slipstream and engine performance =)
Very good explanation, race strategy being my weakest point, though Charles did indeed get on the soft tyre, would that be a good strategy for him to defend against your undercut?
By looking at the state of their tyres. If their tyres are looking good then there's a chance they're not looking to pit, if the condition is falling quickly it's a sign they're pushing and looking to come in

@@Kireth yes, maybe I’m just not good at the game 😂 but it’s quite annoying when they can go from lap 23 to lap 70 (zandvoort) on the same medium tyres. I’ve watched strategy tutorials and idk maybe just can’t get the hang of it
@@Kireth i think you mean in race there, i mean before the race when they are asking how many KG of fuel they need at the start of the race, or should i just leave at default ?
@@harry3344 There's no fixed number of how much fuel you need. Fuel is managed by a Delta. Green = race end + X amount of laps. Red = race end - X amount of laps. By taking the default fuel load you will begin the race with a delta of +0.01 or -0.01. If you choose to under-fuel the vehicle your Delta will drop further and further into the negatives. Wow thanks man, means a lot! Really enjoying discovering this game and sharing it on TH-cam
I just stay in drs trains to pull me along and save tyres/fuel, and then when they pit, I go full push which works almost every time for the overcut
