It’s so funny you posted this. We just cooked a frozen turkey we found on sale for $13. We carved it down raw and roasted it faster getting 3 meals worth of meat, 1.5 weeks worth of dog food, and three pots of soup worth of condensed broth. For dinner, we just paired it with stuffing and fresh cranberry sauce. I know we went over the $20 mark, but it was still a great deal!
I live in Germany/Bavaria and really enjoy watching your Channel. Iam also a Christian and you are an Inspiration to me. For us,Thanksgiving is very simple, there is an everyday Meal from the Garden. It is always the first Sunday in October. God bless you and Family Melanie
@@elfenkuss5107, ahh Germany. I lived in Frankfurt about 50 yrs ago. Rindsrouladin (not sure of the spelling) became my families favorite meal which we often have at Christmas.
Neat video! Love your outfit and your hair is awesome! So many You Tube women vloggers lack any modesty and just put so much flesh out there, risqué camera angels, etc. You demonstrate just how beautiful modesty is! ✨☺️
You are a blessing to me! I am such an advocate of modesty and love to promote it both spoken and unspoken! I shared this comment with my husband, it touched me so much! God bless you!!!
That’s impressive! Very simple and effective. My mother had a stuffing “recipe” (never written down) that had potatoes, celery, onions and sausage. So…that was three pots & over an hour prep just to make the stuffing! Pricey and complicated. Bread stuffing is tastier and easier.
I’m not sure how young people can cook with long sleeves. I need to have short sleeves because I really get in there when I’m cooking. This looked creative and good.
For green bean casserole mix the cream of mushroom soup with some milk and some seasoning and add a dash of lea & perrins for some flavor then fold in the green beans before adding to casserole pan. Add bacon if you don't have the onions. For potatoes made from scratch, to make them stretch, my aunt served in army as cook, a trick they used to make mashed potatoes stretch was mayonnaise. Or they would add some cream cheese to make them fluffy and it would make them stretch as well with just a splash of the cooking water or milk to loosen the potatoes.
@inacecilia i have other budget friendly ways to stretch recipes. I grew up with a single mother who collected welfare. I love your channel. You are such a blessing.
You did great! We didn't grow up eating green casserole as part of our Thanksgiving meal( we didn't like it), so I would have chosen the yams for myself. It's wonderful that each family has their own must have food traditions for the holidays😊
Thank you so much! I would have chosen the yams too but I was conflicted with the potato and wanted to show variety! But we would have needed to budget marshmallows and brown sugar too because that is a MUST!!
I'm all about frugal cooking, it's just a lifestyle for me, and I realize many have only the 20 dollars and no more. But, for those that are able, this is an awesome time of year to stock up the pantry. Here's the thing, many grocery stores will give away the turkey if you spend 100 dollars, so with that in mind, I save up for grocery shopping, a bit each month in order to have that money set aside just for this. Many staple items go on sale because of the holidays and I take advantage of this 😂. But my family loves turkey and I freeze part of the leftovers for later.
Thank you for sharing. I love how you think outside the box. That’s how I think too. We love our turkey rubbed down with Old Bay and softened butter, we are Marylanders. I also love all of your outfits. I wear scrubs, a lot, because I am a nurse.
You are so sweet and kind! Thank you!! How funny, I was just watching old Twilight Zone episodes and thinking how much I admire old nurse uniforms! Bring it back! 😉 God bless you!
Hello from southeast Kansas! I love your content! I am newer to your channel! Your Thanksgiving meal looks lovely! I also like that you choose to use what you have on hand before purchasing a specific item for one dish! We don't stuff our bird because we like to smoke it on our smoker! God bless you and family!
Hi Colette! Thank you for your kind words! My logic (especially with chips) is that if I don’t use the small amount in a recipe, I will just eat it 🤣 God bless you!!!
Great video for folks on a tight budget. I am a stuffing person (I'm old). My mother always stuffed the bird and, to me, it's the best way. i always have extra, though, and I bake it in the oven separately. It's all good.
I congratulate you on doing a video that is very realistic, one that almost everyone should be able to duplicate. You're not out there trying to convince people that you can serve 5 to 8 people with two cans of turkey from DT mixed in with a box of stuffing. There are many options available out there. First, if you are on a low income, you can join a food bank and at most of them receive a free turkey at this time of year. I was proactive. One of my local supermarkets back in Sept was selling frozen turkey breasts for .69/lb. I bought a 4lb as it is only myself. Or there are supermarkets out there that offer "free" turkeys if you spend $300 to $400 over a 6 to 8 week period. For a single or a couple this might not be possible but with a family it should not be a problem. Then there are many supermarkets in this country selling turkeys for .49/lb. I live in downstate NY, one of highest costs of living in the U.S. and all these options are available.
Hi Elizabeth! Thank you so much for sharing these very real numbers! I agree with you completely! I just took a photo at my local grocery store that advertised a free turkey for spending $125 during a certain date range, and I plan to take full advantage of that! I think even if you plan ahead with that in mind and freeze a turkey for after Thanksgiving, that would be so smart! God bless you for sharing your additional ideas!
Going to try a turkey breast this year for first time for economy. I’ve bought a couple of items ahead over the last couple of months or year. I like the idea of brining. Not tried before. Clever hack with skins. Will 6:42 choose to do less pies. And make my own version of sweet potato casserole it as costly or like you said buy just enough of item to make it. I always make my version of a Thanksgiving Shepherds Pie with turkey, green bean dressing, gravy and mash potato layers sprinkle of cheese on top and bake. Unlike others we know just what to do with our leftovers and love them. Thanksgiving burritos are also good stuffed with leftovers and “frosted with gravy. We love our gravy and I make a bunch.
Just eat some cereal 🥣 😂I love it!!! Honestly that is exactly what we would do in my family. New to your channel and enjoying your content. Sending you and yours warm holiday wishes from New York.
I want to say one more thing and I'm not trying to be mean. It's people who know nothing about cooking and they are going to follow you step by step. Please wash Al poultry, someone could not clean the poultry and could make the family/guest very sick after all the meat has been sitting in blood.

Incredible! It sounds like great minds think alike!!
We always had a little kitchen garden. Mom grew green beans, tomatoes, peppers, zucchini and crook neck squash
Beautiful!! Sounds like a garden of riches to me!!

Fair argument! I get my sleeves really grubby so I understand! 💕 I really only own long sleeves, so I just get through it!

Ive learned how to make bread this year so will he making bread for stuffing and rolls this year. About .50 per loaf.
Amazing!! You go, Kathy!!

Hello from NJ! I miss Stater Bros! I really enjoy watching your videos. ❤
I love staters! We have been through a lot together 🤣
Looks amazing ❤
Thank you, Tracy! My sons loved having an early Thanksgiving for the sake of my content 🤣
The trick with Thanksgiving Leftovers, is to portion it out for a meal a week, that way you don't get tired of the "same thing" after 2 days.
Great tip! Thank you for sharing! :)

Wow. 🤯.
You can do it! 😊
Could you cook potato peels in a similar way without an air-fryer?
Great question! I imagine you can fry them up on your skillet with some oil! :)

Hi Candee! I appreciate you for saying so! You are awesome!
