Nice job tuning this truck up! I think a lot of folks were quick to trash this truck because it does seem to need a lot of tuning. I followed your tuning tips and got my Maxx running really well, I am waiting for a few parts to show up and then I will tear into my Maxx Slash (haven't even run it yet, gonna go through it first). I am really looking forward to your tuning how-to video for this truck. Thanks for posting, please keep it up!
Holy crap dude!! Either you are the worlds best RC vehicle operator or your tuning is going extremely well !! This is only the second video(amongst you top guys)where I’ve seen that thing rip. Your video is number one for making that thing look drivable… Traxxas should be sending you an award of some type for making that thing operable😳… anyway, great job.
Can't wait to see what improvements were done or alterations you've done.I've been watching a lot of videos and it's like 70%.People like it and it needs improvements and 30% are just really ripping it apart, saying that it's no good, no traction should have did this and that! Traxxas should put sway bars on. lower center gravity doesn't corner good, it's not supposed to be a basher, and everything else? I'm not sure which way to go ? I do know that bashing is part of the fun ! If you don't want to bash, then don't! From what i see you do with it, it looks like a lot of fun! Just what i would do! Keep bashing!!
Interesting video, you obviously know what you’re doing and have tuned it very well! Still don’t think I’ll buy one though it still doesn’t look like a great performer! Just my opinion. Always appreciate your content
That 3:30 jump you landed, holy hell. If its one thing brother, you're a great driver. This is the first video I've seen where this car doesn't look......... bad
I’ve watched every single video on this car. First time seeing it preform 👍. If I get this I’m doing a widemaxx, bigger tires cut that body or replace it. Did some measurements. Lots of proline Chevy raptor etc fit close
Nicely done Razor! It's really coming around I think. Much more planted and less hopping on it's lid. Tough as nails from all the vids I've seen so far. A nice truck indeed, just not sure it's worth $200 more than the Mojo 4s. Similar performance and durability, tough sell to me. Keep the shiny side up!!👍👌
Hands down the best handling maxx slash on the net in sure after major surgery,Traxxas should really be ashamed at what we got out of the box.I’m leaving g this one alone-nice video ✌🏼
That is night and day difference! Still bounces a lot both driving and landing but massive improvement. I'm not sure there is any hope to make the rear work without bouncing and swapping. It just looks like a small scale rig bouncing and swapping around at the back. Out of the 2 I've driven they handled better on road but with preload cranked way down still dragged the chassis braking and accelerating. Also both had enough body roll to rub the body turning. Everyone who drove this and both my Mojaves agreed the Arrma's was the better rig that day. Even the owners, one of whom is die hard Traxxas but has now bought a UDR and Maxx Slash because he likes my Mojaves so much but can't make himself buy an Arrma.
Try the proline mirrage , they are ment for the the mojave and udr but work just fine . I run stock udr tires on my maxx slash just so I don't tear up the stock belted tires on the pavement.
Finally, someone showing videos of this truck being run with some adjustments rather than yanking it out of the box and bashing it without even checking things like the spring collars or preload. Most of these are showing up with the spring collars backed way off so the springs are loose and the suspension is sagging and then they complain about body slap and other problems. I wish people would take the time to do a baseline inspection and adjustment before running it. A lot of the negativity in the videos I've seen is largely the fault of the TH-camr not doing anything other than shoving batteries in, bashing with it, and then complaining about it. RC Guy even showed the spring collars backed way off after playing with his LHS' display model and how loose the springs are/were. I noticed the same thing at my LHS with their display model.
rather than "yanking it out of the box"?! it's a 700 dollars product. it supposed to be all set up, as a buyer i would hope to get finish and good product and yes, "yanking it out of the box" without tweaking shi*
The problem is the springs are too short and soft for the vehicle in the front. I need to turn the preload collars almost all the way in before there’s even the slightest chance of rebound. And is 3/4” before the collar even hits the spring, leaving barely any adjustment. It runs the same rate springs out front that the regular slash does. Out the box even with minor adjustments it rides like garbage. I had to order new springs. I cannot brake without it scrubbing the ground or turn without the tire rubbing the crap out the body. I’ve already worn through the body paint above the front tires after a few packs.
Hmmm….pretty sure with this particular configuration, Razor did a helluva lot more than “some adjustments” to the shock collars. Suppose we’ll find out how far beyond “baseline” he had to go in the next installment.
@@idan678 It's a silly argument that just because something is X dollars you shouldn't have to bother doing a basic inspection after it was assembled and shipped halfway around the world. Things happen, if you want a good experience then you should take just a few minutes and check things over. You're only setting yourself up for failure if you can't be bothered to do this.
I really don't have much to say about the slash except you put it to the test, as a basher. I'm building a 6s typhon truggy with mx 2.8 what suspension would you recommend .
Well that run was so much better that the last vid.... It'll be interesting to see what you did to achieve that. Yeah she's sitting a little high but a far better driving experience. I run my exb Mojave a little high as well drives so much better.
The "why" is a TH-cam video where an Army vet is pretty annoyed at what Traxxas support told him. "It's not a basher" was one of the quotes, I think. The one that pissed him off was "maybe try a truck with a lower skill level." Which would cheese me off too.
I don't know about that -- I just read a fair number of comments on my videos telling me I shouldn't jump my Maxx Slash so high because it wasn't made for that. 🤷♂
I don't see someone standing over your shoulder with a megaphone yelling you cannot bash these. That's almost what they're meant for me 😁 It's what makes them fun.

you're way off
Do yout hink it's capable of putting up a fair fight against the Mojave 6s now?
Surprised that Traxxas let this go into production with all this tuning needed, perhaps it was the threat of Arrma’s Mojave 4S taking the title.
According to the forum murmors, it was slated for release next month but was rushed due to photo leaks.
