A couple factors for this character that are really good. More enemies means potentially more boosts from ethereal weapons or devastating fire spread from elemental weapons (last time I played the explorer/lumberjack I did a little bit of both). More trees mean your actively going to get more items to take or recycle per wave for free especially if you get high luck and the recycle boosting item which could have netted you a huge amount of materials over the course of the run.
I think a cool gimic that the explorer could have is that they were guaranteed to have at least three trees on the map at all times. That way you know that killing a tree would give you another tree somewhere else, and your income would be tied to your speed. the better you can run around the map and find trees and dodge enemies the more money you get.
I found a new econ feature. If you quickly make a legendary ( IV ) weapon early from some weak cheap weapon, you can sell them in the later parts of the run for hundreds. Combo that with the recycling machine and coupon and you can trade up to a minigun!
"stick" it to Reto to break the character's flaw while going hardcore thematic. A woodspud who uses the branches of their fallen enemies to fight aliens. Love it.
My favorite character is the screamer (+30% Damage, +50% more Enemies -3 Harvest at the end of the Wave) with Aetheral Weapons. Aetheral Weapons are pretty weak early so the +30% Damage helps a lot. Having more Enemies to kill means your Aetheral weapons have more chances to proc. Killing that many enemies completely negates the -harvest too. I typically hard roll for more aetheral weapons and grab anything that says +enemies on it, then I try to get armor and life reg as high as possible. Usually the run is pretty spicey until wave 10 at which point you're just outscaling everything. By wave 12 I can just stand still and not even take damage.
I had fun with Sticks, speed, hp, hp reg,alot dodge, 50% armor, alot luck to get items from the trees. On Difficulty 0 but i see potential. i need to unlock stuff before i want to push higher difficulties =) gl out there
Idk if it's been said before, but I feel like giving them "gain damage for the area you walked on, resets at the end of the round" could be cool. Like, the more of the map you "explore", the more damage you get, and you start with less damage, and can gain a lot of it by covering and "discovering" the map
These are so fun to watch. I'd like to see a lightning shiv multitasker build; Does the shiv's bounce cause burn that can be spread with the burn spread item?
please do a "Sick" run and build smg's for fast lifesteal playstyle. I've tried it having 3 smg 1 minigun a shotgun and a medic gun. it is literally a cheat code when u get at least 5 armor.
I just watched a Brazilian TH-camr do a flamethrower run with tasers with this character and it was insanely good. Maybe try it later just to see the world burn
You bypassed some important armor/speed/regen and even health upgrades for lower stat upgrades, turrets etc. Instead of 7-8 turrets you could easily get 20% speed (which would be much more effective then a really small "chance" to slow enemies with turrets in such a big map) and 10-12 more HP by the end fight there and maybe even some armor or regen. Not getting "+20 mats per Tree" item was very unlucky, you could easily gotten 1,5 - 2k mats from that item alone.

Gold doesn't get lost in this game, you get it the next round when you pick up materials. It isn't worth dying for, this is something new players seem to misunderstand. This isn't vampire survivors.
Speed seems like a great stat for this character since you could pick up more trees, and they were your primary healing here.
he didn't really get great options for speed at some point. he also was just getting garbage money (which makes sense) so he couldn't afford much
i feel like speed+luck and taser/elemental should be the build to survive

Just watched a flamethrower build were the guy was killing everything and getting 5-6 items from trees every level. It was crazy good
That run didn't deserve to get that far, but you also definitely deserved to win just because of how amazingly insane this was.

I definitely agree that some tweaking needs to occur.
I managed a successful run using Elemental and flamethrowers.
I had a ton of success with this character with the flamethrower :) lifesteal + elemental damage was amazing since burn isn't affected by damage% down

If you’re to the point of taking build challenges I recommend trying multitasker with all palms! (Heavy harvesting low base damage) super fun on DL0-2

Explorer is my favorite character
Will you do a speed run? pure move speed with the rare item that increases damage with move speed

This might be crazy but how about mouse aiming for Explorer? If autoaim prioritises enemies, you can focus hard on the trees with ranged attacks.
