an Ebow...., it produces a magnetic field that vibrates the string(s) depending on how it's held over them. Powered via a 9 volt batt in the unit itself Pretty simple design and theory with loads of sonic options at your fingertips . Definitely has a distinctive sound when used . Other great guitarists using the Ebow are Steve Hackett, Dave Navarro, Robert Fripp , Soundgarden's guitarists , The Edge , Cocteau Twins , David Byrne, on and on and on ....
