Great video. I too was hesitant to brew my first kettle sour, but it worked out well. I used a raspberry extract instead of fruit at the end. Brewed it in the summer using a "triple bug mix" for the souring and then held the wort at about 90'sF until it soured to 3.3 pH which took about 3 days.I then proceeded with the brew. Used US-05 to ferment and I bottled it afterwards figuring I didn't want 5 gals of sour on tap. I shared the bulk of the bottles, and it was generally a hit. Your video has inspired me to try another brew!
The process seemed daunting until I did it myself! I bet that raspberry extract added a nice flavor. I don’t blame you for bottling it, it would be tough to go through 5 gallons of sour quickly by yourself.
Nice man! Looks and sounds amazing. I just did my first kettle sour litterally 2 days ago and it's also Gose-inspired. Planning to added mixed fruit near the end of fermentation, not sure what kind yet. Cheers!
Thank you! I’d love to hear how it finishes! I decided on my flavoring during fermentation too. Originally I was going to do cherry, but I thought it tasted too medicinal.
Great video. I had my first sour the other day and it was on the tart side. Honestly, I had not idea what to think about it. It was interesting, but I don't know if I could drink 5+ gallons of it. My money was on you not finishing your chug!
So was mine about halfway through! Sours have never been my favorite, I don’t think I’ve ever ordered one at a brewery before. I don’t mind this one, but I’m glad I don’t have to drink it all myself!

One day I’ll try to make one, but it looks complicated as hell. Also, way to fight through the pain lol
Haha, thank you! It was definitely more in-depth than most of the beers I have brewed, but easier than I expected it to be
