Hmm when they were supposed to be "Rivals" with the puppet commercials there was a clear winner... Lebron and the Cavs got beat by the Dwight Howard and the Magic in 2009 and the Big 3 and the Celtics in 2010... but Kobe and the Lakers beat both of them. Off the court has nothing to do with it on the court.

What encourage them to start a podcast is they know that they'll get a lot of subscriptions due to name recognition alone. Plus if it grows they might look at it as a secondary "profession" where they can earn some money while still being relevant in the media world.

Imo I believe that these player's doing these podcast are not satisfied with the attention that they get as a player so they need another format to do that, and a podcast fits the bill just perfect for them. When you watch these podcast you can clearly tell that the player's want to be right in every situation or argument and they get frustrated when they don't. So that's my take on the matter, they just want more attention. That's the only reason that any of them exist.
