Seasons In The Abyss was Slayer's breakout album in the early 90s. They ran adds on Mtv relentlessly and became known by the masses as the most evil, satanic metal band on earth. A new style of metal was launched.
@@steviegenoski9977 There was no such thing as a 'meatalhead' until Slayer showed up. Reign in Blood is the most influential metal album of all time. Everyone knew it in '86. BTW, Slayer is not satanic. That is in YOUR mind.
Always loved this song from the first time I heard it back in the early 90's. As for other Slayer songs to listen to next, it's a case of where to start. They have that many great songs it's hard to choose!
I've heard this song so many times, I forget how creepy it's gotta be on a first listen🧟♂ The title track from this album, Seasons in the Abyss, is also a pretty dark one. The intro is sooooo good!
Kerry: Choleric. Tom: Melancholic. Gary: Sanguine. Paul: Phlegmatic. 😛 1990 was a pretty amazing year for metal. Phenomenal albums such as Judas Priest’s ‘Painkiller’ and Megadeth’s ‘Rust in Peace’ were released. Other amazing albums such as Pantera’s ‘Cowboys from Hell’, Anthrax’s ‘Persistence of Time’ were recorded and hit stores at various times during the year. And of course, there’s Slayer’s ‘Seasons In The Abyss’. After 1986’s lighting fast effort, ‘Reign in Blood’ and 1988’s, ‘South of Heaven’, Slayer would release what was to become the last of their ‘masterpiece’ albums! 'Seasons In The Abyss' is one of the best metal albums recorded. There’s a complexity to this album and also a different vibe than their other albums. From the moment “War Ensemble” starts all the way through to the closing title track “Seasons In The Abyss”. It could almost qualify as NWOBHM, if “Seasons In The Abyss” was out in the 80's. Mostly on Hell Awaits, on which several songs exceed six minutes in length, although it shows up occasionally on other albums as well, such as the title track from Seasons In The Abyss. "Altar of Sacrifice" fades into "Jesus Saves" and, more famously, "Postmortem" fades into "Raining Blood". On at least South of Heaven and Seasons In The Abyss, almost all their song transitions were continuous, with the only significant gap being between LP sides; some of the song transitions (e.g., "South of Heaven" into "Silent Scream") almost approach Siamese Twin Songs levels. (While most songs on these albums have clear endings, they rarely go completely silent before the next one begins.). Slayer don't simply say the name, they just belt out SSSSSSSSSSSSLAAAAAAAAAYEEEEEEEEEEEERRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HAHAHA.
Slayer are the kings of misdirection. They use evil sounding song names to tell stories of real life and history. Behind the Crooked Cross tells the story of being a German soldier during WW2. Angel of Death is the story of Joseph Mengele. Etc. Absolutely incredible musicians. Especially Dave Lombardo (drums). The Godfather of the double bass is one of the best metal drummers of all time
You want scary songs? Maybe Cannibal Corpse I cum blood (both normal and disney version) and Stripped raped and strangled ofcourse by Cannibal Corpse too. And any songs from Azarath...

It was beautiful.
Their 'breakout' album was 'Reign in Blood' '86
@@erolbulut2584 But only metalheads knew it existed. Seasons was literally advertised on Mtv.
