True, and I think that Knox did underrate this line. It literally mean that Tesla doesn't give a damn about Edison stealing his inventions. He's pissed because the whole world, whole humanity could make some good use of it (progression in evolution). Yet again, greedy little mind over the whole humanity, that for sure by the time, would make a good use of it and keep invent new stuffs for everyone.

@@Randal1993Randal I feel the same way, it's one of the most powerful lines in all of ERB.
Having said that, people have studied Tesla's stuff to death, most of his ideas about how to do free power and stuff, if they had been implemented, would have either been immediately discarded at best, or set humanity back at worst. Wireless transmission is lossy as hell, it's the reason the cool little wireless charge pads are so slow even today. The fact is most of his stuff, while brilliant for the time, is just subpar compared to what came from Edison's brand of power handling.
I love Tesla and the way he was treated is a shame, but the Tesla fanboys put him on way to high of a pedestal.

but I'm sure no nation nor businessman would want it to happen in any way.

That's the reality of humanity. From one side it seems to be a good idea, but it's not - just because of people emotions and people brains. Everyone has own unique life path to cross but a lot of people just want to skip this path. Edison was one of these guys.
Also, "raw" doesn't mean "bad". It's all about the idea, design, testing, learning and improving - that's the way of evolution.

Dude. Tesla didn't do enough? Holy shit. The dude invented the same ac system that's still is used world wide to this day. From the pumps in your refrigerator to the power outlets and engines in most electric vehicles. The first hydroelectric dam was built on his disign. Still in use today. Niagara falls. Edisons DC power wasn't able to be transfered over any real distance to be useful but with ac you can generate power in Germany and use it in Italy if you wanted to. It was such a great leap in technology that 130 years later teslas disigns are pretty much still being used to power everything that doesn't hold a battery and even some that do.

He also experimented with X-rays, gave short-range demonstrations of radio communication two years before Guglielmo Marconi and piloted a radio-controlled boat around a pool in Madison Square Garden. Together, Tesla and Westinghouse lit the 1891 World’s Columbian Exposition in Chicago and partnered with General Electric to install AC generators at Niagara Falls, creating the first modern power station."

What everyone always misses: Edison had the patents on the camera, and on lightbulbs and on sound carriers... and he actually did try to stop the movie industry (which was mostly in New York at the time) unless they payed him lots of dollars... So the movie industry moved to a town pretty much as far from New York on the mainland USA as they could... that is how Hollywood was born. So Edison thought he could stop that industry... but like Tesla said: you can't stop them with that.

Fun fact: Tomas Edison’s greatest invention was the R&D Department. That’s how he got that long list of patents, he (under)payed people (not just Tesla) to invent things then filed the patent under his own name.
So yeah down with capitalism if it allows thieves like Edison to be successful.
Also just because I know it might trigger some redditors. Elon Musk is not Tesla he is Edison, the man is not a visionary, he is not an inventor he’s a South African aristocrat who leveraged his daddy’s wealth to pay for the two people who actually had the idea for Tesla, which wasn’t even an original idea it was just the first electric car to get popular. And no amount of smoking blunts on Joe Rogan can change that fact. If musk wanted to be Tesla and not a capitalist he would pay for people to convert gas cars to electric rather then selling them new cars, and he’d allow anyone to use his charging stations FOR FREE rather then patenting it.

Hey Knox, just so you know (someone may have commented this before, not sure) the "bet you $50k" line and the "banker and you" line are connected. Edison got in contact with JP Morgan, who had been funding Tesla for a project. Said project was "Wardencliffe Tower" - Tesla's first, long-range, industrial scale, wireless power distribution station. The idea was that if he could get the tower operational it would be proof positive that not only was AC safe, it was also capable of doing exactly what Tesla had been saying all along. Edison, having seen the research, knew it was true. So, he got in touch with JP Morgan and let him in on what Tesla was doing with the funding. JP stopped funding Tesla... exactly $50k short of the tower's completion - and it was almost finished.

Bit of physics for those interested: In an electrical system , when Current falls, Voltage rises and vice versa (assuming the energy input stays constant). With AC it's quite easy to change this, meaning we can have high voltage cables with very low current, and as a result minimum energy loss due to resistance in the wires. Doing this requires generating a magnetic field, which can be achieved by changing currents: Exactly what AC does
On a DC system however, we cannot do this. Energy loss during low-voltage transport will be much higher, which means such a grid would need a lot more infrastructure to the point of having several power plants per city and no reliable electricity in rural areas. Edison, having patents to this AD-based technology, obviously pushed hard for his system. If you thought climate change now was bad, imagine if your town had a powerplant every other mile
at 11:30 you did miss a line by the way: I conduct business. Playing off electrical conduction

By the time Westinghouse won the war of currents, he was supposed to pay Tesla a huge amount. But Tesla also wanted to build the Niagara Falls power plant. Except Westinghouse said that they can’t afford to pay him AND build the plant. So Tesla gave up the money for his dream

It's actually an interesting story about the fall of tesla, but also the fall of Edison. Shortly after Edison and Tesla parted ways, Edison partnered with the Banker J.P. Morgan.
It went on for a little while with the 2 of them but eventually Morgan wanted more from Edison then Edison was giving him so he started buying the stocks of Edison's company and gained the majority stock. Once this happened he was able to get rid of Edison and changed the name of the company to General Electric aka GE.
So essentially, Edison screwed over Tesla. And shortly after Edison was screwed over by J.P. Morgan

The "Hertz" (Hz) is a unit of frequency not of electrical current.
The units of electrical current is the "Ampere" (A).
Direct current doesn't have a frequency, but alternating current does.
So in the context of the BAR; "The truth Hertz" is a dis to Telsa's alternating current.
