    The "You look a lot more blond in your movie" line was a reference to how Daniel Craig was the first blond to play the role. All previous actors had been dark-haired. When he was cast, there was a huge backlash from series purists who saw it as a huge miscast and mocked him as "James Blond" and campaigned against him.

    • @jacklovejoy5290

      Which was ridiculous because he was actually not the first blond to be Bond, he just didn't have dyed hair and this was the early 2000's where drama was a major staple of pop culture. They hated him up until a set leak revealed he was hot in the swimming scene. Connery was a bodybuilder in his youth but even when he played Bond he wasn't that in shape.

    Technically yes, Sean Connery WAS in six Bond films...with Eon Productions. He did Never Say Never Again (a Thunderball remake) with a different film company. The "You've had your six" line was from Dr. No, and James Bond was originally English but after the film adaptation of Dr. No, Ian Fleming retconned Bond's backstory to give him Scottish heritage.

      Since when is the peace symbol meaning flipping someone off? I know Knox has been saying it for years but I've only ever heard him say that and I'm curious if it's actually true or not and if you're just repeating something Knox said?

    • @georgebrantley776

      @@archfiend221 The two fingers are the fingers that an archer would use to draw an arrow. The French famously lost many battles to English archers in the 100 Years' War. Legend has it that English POWs would get their index and middle fingers cut off so that they could never shoot an arrow again. Upon learning of this mistreatment, English longbowmen would raise those two fingers and use it as a "fuck you" sort of hand gesture toward the French. Since WW2's V for Victory campaign it's become less common to use 2 fingers up as an insult, but V for Victory and Peace are palm facing away from self, while F you is palm facing toward self.

    • @HulkingNewt
      @HulkingNewt 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@archfiend221 Also depends the direction of the palm, according to my British friend who told me about this a long time ago. If the palm is out, it's a peace sign. If the palm is toward the person making the sign, then it is their equivalent of a middle finger.

    • @matthewbibby8921
      @matthewbibby8921 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@archfiend221 The insult is a flipped Peace symbol - so the back of your fingers are facing away from you as opposed to the “V for victory” sign.
      As the other guy mentioned, the legend of the french cutting off the Index finger - but since that’s unsubstantiated and more of a legend than anything really confirmed or supported, off the top of my head it could also be, well, the “opposite of a peace sign” since it’s reversed.
      Not to mention you stick your tongue between it and it’s now a symbol for cunnilingus. Could be a shorthand for that.
      But yes, as a British person, it’s a thing here, but I’m not surprised you wouldn’t know it because it’s practically unknown outside of the British isles in general.

    Hey Knox! Great anaylsis as always. This isn't really a rap but this song has great verses that you might like since you are super into history and know so much. It's called "Fields of Verdun" by Sabaton who make tons of songs about historical moments.

    Connery was in 7 Bond movies not 6.
    1. Dr. No 1962
    2. From Russia with Love 1963
    3. Goldfinger 1964
    4. Thunderball 1965
    5. You Only Live Twice 1967
    6. Diamonds Are Forever 1971
    7. Never Say Never Again 1983
    The first 6 were made by the same production company, and Never Say Never had the same plot as Thunderball. This dis could also be referencing Dr. Evil's comment "Let's do what we always do. Hijack some nuclear weapons and hold the world hostage."
    And the Pussy dis refers to the Bond babe Pussy Galore, but the cunning linguist reference was said by Moneypenny to Pierce Brosnen in Tomorrow Never Dies, 1997

      @@undertakernumberone1 I personally don't agree, I love both Moore and Brosnan, I thank Connery for his performance but I consider his movies too misogynistic to be amongst my favorites (the only one that is pretty high up there are Goldfinger and Diamonds Are Forever), I even liked the first Dalton's movie, but I consider Craig just as good as those first two, especially almost as good as Brosnan who shall always be my personal fav Bond.

    When Connery was originally cast as Bond the writer for the books wasn't a fan of the accent because he originally had Bond as an English man however after seeing and hearing Connery in action fell in love with the accent and wrote Bond as someone who had a Scottish accent and wrote it I think that bonds father was a Scot

    “It's the movie business, and you've had your six!”
    I’ve been sleeping on this one for years, I thought this just referred to Connery being in six movies. But it’s also a play on the line from Dr. No "That's a Smith & Wesson, and you've had your six" that Bond says before shooting an assassin.
