Cool! That’s my neighborhood! I live in the foothills at the base of Mt. Hamilton, off Alum Rock Road. I know that route well.

Ah, Mt. Hamilton Rd. A favorite ride of mine when I once had a Vespa. James Lick is an interesting guy in himself. He wasn't involved in the sciences in any way. He was a milliner. Lick Mill still exists off N Capitol Ave. He left his fortune to build the observatory, and other civic enterprises. He never saw the observatory, which is why his burial there is kinda special.

Nice video. However, you missed the Copernicus Peak Fire Lookout. It is sitting o top of the water tank that provided water to hydraulically lift the floor of the 36 in telescope. The fire lookout is still staffed by the CAL FIRE Santa Clara Unit Volunteers In Prevention during fire season (it is in a restricted area to you can't walk up to it). I forget how many people live up at Lick full time permanently, but is quite a few. There is also a video on TH-cam of when the SCU Lightning Complex Fire burned through Lick.

Thank you for the excellent video. I would love to see some history of the areas to the east of Mt. Hamilton such as San Antonio Valley, Mines Road, and Adobe Springs.

There are burn scars from the big fires 3 years ago.

Nice video. It would be great though to give a little context about the roads you're traveling. For instance in the beginning it would be informative to say something ≈ "here we go, we're on Highway _blank_ heading north or whatever".
    But again, nice video.
