As a practicing Realtor, I must agree with your views pertaining to real estate can depreciate value in certain situation such as the ones you mention. Criminality otherwise called economic obsolescence has caused a number of properties in Jamaica to depreciate in value significantly to the point that some home owners has to migrate to other locations leaving their properties behind. And, even years after the crime has seized in those communities, the property value still devalued due to the stigma that remains with those communities until today.
