If Big Rigs: Over The Road was released in Amico, that "tester" would say that game is great. They could release some of the worst games ever in Amico and the same "tester" would claim that those games are awesome.
This intelli-amico thing has been going on for so long I think I was still buying and restoring oem NES pin connectors as a hobby when it was announced.
Based on what has been reported on the Amico discord, the sales numbers for Shark Shark and Astrosmash are absolutely dismal. Steam is showing possibly 270 total sales of Shark Shark.... a far cry from Tommy predicting that each game would be selling in the hundreds of thousands.
I occasionally check into vginsights and the concurrent player counts for both Astrosmash and Shark Shark are always in the low single digits. Even in the videos from shills, they don't show online multiplayer working, or they play the multiplayer modes by themselves with no other players. Very few people are buying the games, and even fewer are playing them. And these were supposed to be the centerpieces of the Amico. They were supposed to be the Amico's pack-in Mario or Sonic or Wii Sports. They were going to bring millions of people together. The reality is tumbleweeds.
I just want to say that seeing this panel live was worth carrying your phonebook of an NES guide over several hours and through three other panels to get to be there for because I could not make it home and back in time without missing out on any of it. Thanks for the awesome panel and thanks for coming out to Portland!
It's very funny to see this as someone whose first console was a hand me down 360. I distinctly remember playing Feeding Frenzy and getting very bored after like 10 minutes when i was probably 8. I think a lot of people probably have a similar memory.
Why did the amico need to be an entire console? Why can't they launch the "exclusive" games under the Amica brand on switch or PSN eshops and sell the controller to play them on?
So wait, am I hearing Ian right. That this game won't bring families together. If Shark, Shark can't what will families do.😂 Oh yeah, it's this thing called the Switch, PS5, Xbox series X, and Steam. 😅
DJC Game Studios has promised a preview of Amico Home for weeks now and has delivered nothing. I initially thought DJC was telling the truth. Pat and Ian were right all along.
I might go $2.50 for it, or sure, if they collect a bunch together for an evercade cart the usual $20. I liked the old Shark! Shark! enough to do that. I really wouldn't mind seeing that Moon Patrol update, but I get the feeling that deal's off. Expectations aren't high.
The big question, in a few years after Limited Run scores the elusive rights to these games and releases a “Once and Future Amico” collection; will Pat and Ian pony up the money for it? Will their love and devotion to all things LIMITED RUN be stronger than their distaste for Tommy and his Amico shenanigans?
Only game that looked fun on Amico was Astrosmash IMO. So I spent the money on it for my switch and its was fun but not worth the 15 they charge and not worth shelling out what they are asking for the Amico that will never see the light of day. I just dont get why Tommy thought this system was gonna sell so well. Why spend all that money on offices all over the world. Just have one or two here in the U.S. Then get it out then if it sells ok then maybe you can then get more offices. But his Ego was so high and he was so certin he was gonna keep getting more money from people he thought it would never run dry. Well it did Tommy. Also they still use the excuse that the pandemic was the reason why they could not get it out. I call BS. At the same time both Atari and Evercade were in the same boat trying to get systems out and they had less funding and got it out. Hell evercade has got several out since then. Tommy had the balls to say Atari would never get their system out. Hey Tommy, what system can I go buy right now....Amico or Atari VCS? I wont hold my breath for a response. 😊
I bought Clownfield on Steam for $0.75 and it was one of the best games I've ever played under $1. Played it for 2 hours and couldn't stop laughing for how ridiculous the game was. Shark Shark looks like a game that another game puts in as a mini game.
This is STILL going on 😂 I forgot about the Amico drama for like a year. It randomly popped into my head today and did a search… yeah, the Amico scandal is still making the rounds.
Sucks for devs that made it. With some more time it could have been descent. The idea was there, just management didn’t do their part so it never developed.
So it cost roughly $0.43 per min. That's like 2 quarters to play a really good game at the arcades. but spending $15 on a 35 min game is absolutely insane. I rather play Cult of the Lamb which is $15 on Steam for a deal right now. I can't believe this game exist along with Astrosmash and Dino Blasters. Which Dino Blasters is $20 instead of the $15 which is too much.
Hey you. Viewer down in the comments: You ever hear of a game called Aquaria? Beautiful game from the indie boom of the 2000s. That was the _minimum_ I expected of Shark Shark. Because you can't just verbatim repeat a game that was included for free with Bejeweled 3.
I remember it and now that I think about it, Dolphin Quest would probably be closer to the feel of Aquaria as it's more exploration focused. Pat played a demo of Dolphin Quest a year ago but on a different console other than Amico.
So what we got here? 1. Needs a custom Amico controller to work with Amico hardware, ergo can't work on anything other than the Amico hardware 🚨 2. Will cost $3 🚨 3. Developed by a German studio using Bavarian grants 🚨 4. Legendary video game composer Tommy Tallirico composed the music and engineered the sound effects 🚨 5. Pre-order the game with access token that will let you play it upon release. 🚨
tbf the game is probably made in germany even based off of those russian sounding names as there has been a lot of migration in and out of cold war era states through Germany since the end of WW2 and the cold war after that
After all that hype, all that talk, for a slow, boring, 35 minute game for the "low" price of $15 I recently bought a copy of Christmas Dreams into Nights for $15...a much better value for my money

Just earlier today someone found a new post on his Disqus account, about someone's review on Astrosmash. But it could be a troll taking over his account. And he did an interview with Albany NY Q105.7 station a few weeks ago.
Genshin Impact: $0 Shark Shark: $15 There's my game review. Replace Genshin Impact with any $0 you'd like: Dauntless, Warframe, online TCG games, etc. This includes freeware, like Pico-8 games like Kalikan. The standards... you know? Even for 40 years ago... well, there's a reason Atari died and Nintendo didn't. Atari does what Nintendon't.
Enjoy the victory lap, guys. Tommy is an absolute fraud and should get every bit of criticism coming his way. You never deserved to get dragged into his drama.
Is the intellivision amico ever going to actually be released? I thought it died and wasnt going to happen. How much are the separate games going to cost? I wasn't impressed at all with the majority of the games the console supposedly comes with like Evil Kenneval. I want the voice synthesizer games: B17 Bomer, Space Spartans, Bomb Squad, Tron Solar Sailer - which could be redone and disney removed from it. I'd also like to see Fatham, both the Dungeon and Dragons games, micro surgeon, to name a few.
I mean the game looks terrible but perhaps there's some nostalgia appeal to those that have played the original. Kind of dumb for Pat & Ian to be giving it a review. I guess they did it for their fans.
So those people who have actually purchased those Amico Intellivision games are sitting on a gold mine! Collector's item that some someone may pay more for its terrible, terrible execution.

You can kill the shark if you bite its tail enough. I think they were being faithful to the original game on Intellivision. Its just an enhanced version. I think the graphics are fine. Tommy appealing to Pat as a fellow "Paisan" was probably the peak of this whole ordeal, thus far.
I completely agree! You should come over for pasta! 🍝
Ian saying "squirt a little ricotta in my mouth!" when Tommy started on about the pasta 😅
So this game that could only be played on an Amico with its special controller can be now played on anything but the Amico (and Playstation)

People may have been expecting you could shoot Tommy's head as the final boss and changed their mind after one couldn't.
There's more demand for Intellivision homebrews than Amico games. People pay $50 or more for the carts.
I heard the sales of Mario Wonder and Spiderman 2 hurt Shark! Shark! sales. Otherwise SS sales would have made Guiness Book of World Record! 😂
