Absolutely sublime. I'm in my 50's and have loved this since the day it came out. He was an exceptional musician in that he had two very successful bands with completely different styles. And both were brilliant.
Had absolutely no idea that Dylan was THIS deep. THANKS! MM does SUCH a good job with this song. Loved this song from the first time that I heard it and that was more than 40 years ago. It resonated with something inside of me even at that age when I was still young and stupid. Now I'm a little older. LOL! Closing my eyes and listening to it and being completely straight I notice that this song does take me higher. Ahhhh. To be young and stupid again.
I saw Manfred Mann in '74 the night Nixon resigned (Harrisburg Farm Show Arena). They played the intro to Father of Day for a long time. I swore there were angels playing. They played before Blue Oyster Cult and Uriah Heep. I went to see Blue Oyster and Uriah Heep. I have to agree with the other comments, Manfred Mann put on a better show than the others. I was amazed since I was expecting to only hear Mighty Quinn. I hate to think about how long ago that was.

Just picked this up at Pop's Resale in Lexington KY. I thought $9 was a little steep for a 37 year old vinyl.. Until I listened to it. Album is in mint condition and much more enjoyable than listening to the crap bought off Itunes. My dad got me into 70's rock in the early 90's (when i was about 4-5 ha) and have never turned back. It's albums like this, Jethro Tull's Heavy Horses that make me keep listenin'. Kinda sad that no music is anywhere near this today.

Aehnlich mit Spirit in the night, Original von Bruce Springsteen, dass Cover von MM finde ich persoenlich viel besser. In den 70th waren wir alle grosse Fans von MM Earth band. Ich habe die Band 5X gesehen. Alle LP's hatte ich auf meinen Telefunken TS201. Fuer mich ist Manfred Mann's Earthband ein Stueck Musikgeschichte!

Bob Dylan wrote this song, he never managed to make it a hit but he wrote it down for MM and others. I'm sure BD likes this one.
