I've been watching your tutorials for 2 years in preparation for my daughter's wedding. They gave me confidence to make a display like this using my allotment and garden foliage. Thank you so much John!
I love doing large arrangements so it's always fun to watch you make one. Love it, it's so elegant but not all formal controlled. Thanks John for your time and expertise 🥰👍
That’s a good question - the green block is foam that will take water and is for fresh flowers - so yes, and I have pre soaked it before using. This would be ideal for a wedding and you can change the flowers / colours to suit - but the method is the same 😀🌼
You should be quite pleased with this one, John. Infomal yet elegant. And, for me, my favorite sort of arrangement. I love large full arrangements and love doing them. In working on a piece such as this the work takes me to "another place". Maybe it's that stately home you mentioned! ;) Thank you for this one, I do love it. Hope you and all are well.
Thanks John, I love doing this kind of arrangement, I enjoy very much watching your videos. This arrangement is just Beautiful 🌹🌷🌷🌺🌺🌺🌷🌷. Kind regards from Berlin
So lovely! I don't have a stately home (!) but I Do have a very large mantelpiece, this gives me some great ideas! Also think it would be amazing executed in artificial (that would cost a bomb!). Thanks as always for the inspiration!
Thank you - an artificial version would be such a statement though. Ok it costs a bit, but you have saved on the house I suppose 😆 Thank you for watching and the nice feedback 😀🙋🏼♂️
Hello John , I like verry much this kind of arangement that u have done with lot of movement in it and asimetric. Is my favourite as u can let your creativity free and make a spectacular thing. And so u did ❤
That’s a good question - I find foliage tends to be dirtier if in the city, near roadsides, or low down where it gets the rain splash. So the ideal is from a good size garden where things are a bit protected 😊
Dear John, Love the videos. Thanks so much. Question: I want to grow some of the things that will go in my arrangements, but I have these weeds that grow networks horizontally. Twice I took everything out of the garden and put down new soil. The weeds came right back. I'm trying not to use harsh weed killers, but if that's all I can use, I guess I will. Any ideas?
I have had similar problems in different gardens. My approach was up just keep ontop of them - if they are constantly removed it weakens them. Don’t let them get a good growth going. But some weeds will come in from surrounding ground, so you will never escape them sadly. I wish you luck - and avoiding harsh weed killers is good 😊
How do you keep the arrangement from getting top heavy. I had a large arrangement for church and five minutes after finishing it fell over and was destroyed.
Hi!! We are planning lots of flowers at our wedding (between 22-23 wide and tall centerpieces / 10-12 aisle bouquets / Floral big urns (3x) / Flowers hanging with floral cage on door, etc... Of course we would like to get a little early, the wedding being on a Saturday. Do you think starting a few floral foam bouquets on Wednesday is realistic? Even with a finishing spray? The flowers will be good? Or do we must start on Thursday? They won't be placed in the fridge because of course we won't have as much room for that amount of flowers. Thanks for any advice you can give! ☀☀😍
Hi - thanks for the message. Personally I would do close to the day of the wedding - but there are lots of mechanic and dish preparation that can be done early. From a flower point of view they just look fresher crested near to when needed, and if you live in a warm area even more so. Best advice is closer and more hands! So get a team sorted who can create this volume 😀
The best advice is to tape the tray to a bit of flat steel, or fix direct to the mantlepiece with oasis fix putty . You can use a counter weight behind if it is wide enough as well 😀🙋🏼♂️
I had all the ivy I ever wanted at my new property, but the man my dad hired to help him with a job here told dad the ivy was a noxious weed, so dad allowed him to poison it. I didn't want any poison being used here, and now have a massive brown mass that I look out onto! Hard not to be upset about it.
Oh no! It’s such a handy foliage both trails and berries. It might come back - it’s pretty strong stuff 😀 but the dead growth is better just removed - as you say, it’s not pretty 😕
@@FlowerJoos Yes, very useful - I was so excited about it! Watching you use it was breaking my heart. He killed it good, unfortunately. Thank you, Flower Joos!
From the camera view the things you keep putting in the back on your right side are totally hidden like the white lily you hid behind the silver spiral in the front.
Winning the Lottery sounds great! I would still do my own floral arrangements because I would get bored of counting my money. LOL
😀 both good hobbies to have 😀
I like the big ones, so nice to look at. The blue flowers hard an longe.

How amazing would this be as a casket spray? To my thinking, gorgeous!!
That’s a good suggestion - if made the same from each side, then it would be beautiful as a spray 🌼😊
Very nice arrangement.

This might be a dumb question. Is that green block wet or dry? I love this idea for my daughter's wedding on the mantle. Well done

😂😂 you could make them from crepe paper! Or use dried flowers. Might take awhile to make enough but it would be one heck of a project!

This foliage is beautiful and shiny
What would you recommend doing to get a foliage pretty and dirt free when gathering from nature/garden?

My mantle is very narrow. How do I avoid it falling forward,
