Ashley, you put way too much pressure on yourself. You don't have to be like every blogger here, just be yourself. Just speak from your heart and don't worry about what anybody else thinks, because you're never going to please everyone, I can imagine that it must be hard adding the captions. Maybe,....is there a way someone either here in the youtube community, or elsewhere can help you? Your videos are very educational, keep being and doing you! :-)

I love your sweet spirit that comes across the screen. Occasionally I recognize signs I've learned, and I'm excited about that. Thank you for persevering even though this is stressful for you! We love you!

I'm glad you're making progress, but don't put the pressure on yourself to get specific content out! Just share whatever is on your mind and things that you like to do in your daily life. I'm not a blogger, but it seems like that's what everyone else does lol. I encourage you to not use captions if you don't want to, it would honestly help me improve my receptive skills! You're doing great, sweetie!

I love that you push yourself to be the best you can be! Make sure to continue to give yourself grace as necessary though. I do the same thing in different ways, but I try really hard to keep things in perspective... easier said than done. Thank you for your hard work, I love following your journey AND improving my sign at the same time!

I always look forward to your videos, and though it's frustrating for you to CC them I do appreciate it. Though I'm getting better at receptivity and able to understand a lot more w/out reading the CC. Don't be concerned about the time of the videos so much since it makes you so anxious. Just "say what you want to say", so to say :D
Just to let you know, I really enjoy watching both types of videos you do, teaching and your vlogging because when you do a video this way I can see "natural" signing if that's a word? In other words how you would sign if conversing with someone and not teaching so seeing the little nuances and recognizing them makes me feel like I'm making some progress, and why I also usually watch the videos more then once to keep practicing.
Keep doing what your doing and don't stress yourself out, a lot of folks appreciate you vlogs.
Stay safe and stay healthy and hope your family is also staying well.
    Rich :)

I am so thankful for your channel, and I know adding closed captioning is a lot of work, but I'm so thankful for it! It's a huge help to me in my desire to learn sign language, as I currently do not know anyone who uses ASL. Thanks so much for sharing your life with us, including your struggles! Hoping you are staying safe, happy, and healthy.

Your channel just came up in my recommendations. I watched you talk to your sisters about growing up with a deaf sister, and a couple of videos with your dad - they were all great! Now, I see you mention that you have videos teaching sign language. We recently got two new hires at my office who are deaf, and I feel so bad about not being able to communicate with them - it must be so isolating for them. Fortunately, there are about 2000 people in my building, so there are other deaf people and I see them getting together at breaks. Then I wonder, what if you don't really like those people, but they are the only ones with whom you can easily communicate, so you get stuck with them? It would be like being in a foreign country and you bump into someone who speaks your language, and it's such a relief. I have to watch your videos, and at least try! Seems like you are putting a lot of pressure on yourself - just do what you can, but I really do appreciate the translation!

I think I speak for most of us when I say, you can slow down and take a week to not post. Use the time to reflect on who you are and how valuable you are. Give yourself permission too relax.
    Lots of love and smiles!!!

It is okay Ashley, relax, we love you and the effort you put into teaching us ASL. I’m almost 70 and met my first deaf person just about two years ago (really!). Right after meeting this young lady I wanted to learn how to communicate with her. Found videos online, bought some books ( they are still gathering dust on my shelf), but then found your videos about learning the alphabet and signing. I can remember how to sign the alphabet until I have to actually spell out a word (spelling was never my strong suit in school). But sometimes I can put together two or three signs to make a simple sentence. Hahaha. I have read (I actually did open a couple of those books) that ASL grammar is really different from spoken grammar used by us hearies. Could you explain that and help me to put my signs in the right order...or is there no need to worry about that with my simple sentences? Thanks again Ashley and I so appreciate what you do.

thank you sooo much for all the effort you put into making your videos .honestly it helped me learn soo much of sign in such a short period of time and like everyone has said don't stress out and just be you ! you are perfect just the way you are !!!

It's week 12 and I definitely know the signs for anxious and nervous. :) Seriously though, it is helpful to see the conversational signing. Gives a better idea of how they are used in practice and makes learning more complete. Thank you!

Trust us, your followers! You are a great story teller and know how to connect us with a deep, human side of things we all share. I very much enjoyed the videos with your sisters, parents, the school tour ... just because of what you have to show and say! You also great creating bridges over different languages, worldviews, feelings ... to me it's like magic! You diserve to enjoy your powers and the results at least as much as we do :)

Regarding the hard task of adding CC, I started learning ASL a couple of weeks ago and am suprised I can follow what you say just looking at the CC when you change subjects, so perhaps a few context words or a phrase resuming the idea will do. OTOH knowing you have interesting things to say is a strong stimulus to learn ASL, and I can watch the video as many times as I need as I do with any language I'm trying to learn.

Hey, idk if u'll read this, but I found your channel recently, and I love it, I personally donno anyone irl who's deaf, but i'm fascinated by ASL and also believe that every person SHOULD have at least basic understanding of ASL, and so i came upon your channel and I love it, I love your normal videos and learning to sign from them, I wish you luck, and if I ever talk to a deaf person, or understand them, it'll be thanks to you

Thank you so much! I am learning so much ASL from your vlogs & videos! I appreciate your time & care for others. Please don’t add cc, if too stressful. I can follow most of what you say & it is good practice for me to watch your signing only. Praying for you & sending love🙏💝

Dear Ashley, Millicent is right stop pressuring yourself!! It's ok to be nervous and a little scared but remember that's just your brains defence mechanism kicking in. YOU can control this by keeping on doing!! The more you do the more confident you will become. As regards captions why are you beating yourself up?? Until you come to terms with being in front of the camera don't bother with them we can all use auto captions!!. Please keep going you are proving to yourself and the world now strong you can be. I am learning ASK and I am british!!

Stress really drives us out of our wits, and I think getting a few days rest from burning thoughts is beneficial so that you can get back on track later 🙂 I'm new to your channel, and I guess many TH-camrs (even PewDiePie before) feel the stress of not being able to keep up with other channels' paces. It's normal. You want to teach people with more ASL and I hope that will always be your motivation, and it's entirely okay for a TH-camr to actually separate his/her audience and personal life. 😊 I know TH-camrs who felt better when they shared less because they became more relaxed.

If translating for captions is a lot of work, maybe use ASL gloss instead of English grammar? I agree you put pressure on yourself. If you relaxed a little, your videos would still be fine!
