Mr. Hemlig Delivery has already started. The Swedish Air Force and the Brazilian Air Force has been delivered one Gripen E each. Those two aircraft has not yet entered service though since respective air force has some final acceptance testings to perform.
I've always thought the Grippen to be a superb aircraft. I honestly believe that we, the UK, should seriously consider using a couple of hundred of them to supplement the Typhoons and F-35s. The Typhoon should be used as an interceptor/air superiority fighter, the F-35 as a direct Harrier replacement, i.e. naval and front line CAS. The Grippens could take the role vacated by the Jaguar and the combat equipped Hawks but with considerable more capability. I also think that a quantity of Tornadoes should be re-built using EJ200 engines and enhanced avionics and weapon systems, including some F3s which were dumped with seemingly unhealthy haste. That would give us an air force that could, at least, put up a good fight should the unthinkable happen. At the moment our reliance on a reduced number of typhoons, non existent F-35s, and a handful of ageing GR4s is, to be honest, laughable.
Yes id agree with most of what you say but can add a few points - the Typhoons were to replace the 5 F3 Tornado Squadrons plus the 2 Jaguar strike Squadrons.Under current plans this looks like it can be achieved although with fewer Airframes ordered ( 160 vs 232) for 7 operational Squadrons.The F35b is the obvious priority for equipping the Carriers - we have I think 48 on order,any future orders have yet to be made but more 'b's would be the logical choice.The last problem is the imminent Tornado retirement in 2019 and what (if anything) they will be replaced by.Rebuilding them with EJ200 engines is an interesting idea but cannot see any advantage in doing that - think what happened with the Nimrod MR4 fiasco.Ive thought that the obvious choice would be to replace them with the F35a model for a variety of reasons - more range,more payload,less complex systems,cheaper to buy (all compared to the 'b') but failing that the Gripen would make an excellent choice.It has significant UK content,it uses some if not most of our existing weapon systems,it is cheaper to run per hour than the Typhoon,cheaper and easier to maintain at base and in the field,and with our most recent operations in Libya,Syria and Baltic policing duties it would fullfill those with no problem or lack of capability.Also with the Swedish airforce going to the Gripen NG id assume they would have surplus C+D models available.So basically I think our fast jet force could comprise of 4 Squadrons of F35b plus an OCU and associated training units, 7 Squadrons of Typhoon,lastly 4 Squadrons of Gripen C/D located at one base (we have a few to choose from) for an affordable balanced force.
nice that the slightly dull weather allowed the shock waves to be seen in the afterburner exhaust :-) I bet that the canard, in that aggressive angle during landing, really adds traction to braking, in addition to its own 'speed brake' action...Does the '39 also have reverse thrust/'reverse gear' capability? Very cool at 8:40, the afterburner 'blossoms' .

Not bad but far behind the Typhoon , which the Typhoon still lacking the AESA radar , although it have a outstanding superior IRST sensor for its generation the plane is 4 / 4+ generation 30 years old , without any major developments to their sensors , even by the modern day standard still outperform the other competitors regarding its electro-optical sensor .

Say hello to Gripen E, it´s just that. The radar is also mounted at an rotating assembly making it more or less an AWACS at the same time.
