- The Grotto of Bruce Peninsula National Park in Tobermory, Ontario, Canada is one of the most beautiful swimming areas in all of Canada. It's a cave the features clear, blue water that gets illuminated from an underwater tunnel. If you get there when the sun is in the right position, the water will be illuminated from above and below and looks otherworldly. This place seems like something you might find in Europe on the Mediterranean Sea, but it is found surprisingly in Canada, on the Great Lakes.

One piece of information that was forgotten is that this land is the sacred ancient territories of my people, the Saugeen Ojibwa Nation, and is very important to us, the duty of our people is to make sure the lands are nurtured and kept in its natural nature balance, and for many of you asking, yes the water is very cold! So, next time you come here, make sure to really appreciate all the gorgeous land around you! this land is perfect for getaways in the summer when you just need a day to unwind, but also make sure to bring your trash out with you when you leave, thank you for reading my little piece of information! About 65F when we were there
i've heard that thr water is cold and deep.. i'm a beginner in swimming and i'm really scared of drowning, is it worth it? 😅
You don't have to go swimming to enjoy the beauty
Basic swimming skills will be sufficient to enjoy the grotto…. With the exception of swimming through the hole. But you may need some climbing skills to get down to the Grotto.
Some people can have a cold shock response to the water and drown if they are not accustomed to swimming in very cold water

Water was about 65 F. This was a few weeks ago.
Water is cold...usually warmer by end of june or start of canada day until end of August...water is cold, refreshing and clean as if you took a cold shower bit great when its great 30+ degrees outside...water is also deep

@@steveburdelak8787 A lot of people have drowned trying to swim through, I don't recommend it. It is very far down to access the hole and then another 50-60 ft or more. Only good free divers with fins or scuba gear should even attempt. Hope this helps

Don't try to save anyone?
There's 2 brothers that tried.. o e didn't make it and when he didn't surface the brother went in after him... they both died.. now I wasn't saying don't try to save anyone. I said don't be a hero.. it's a figure of speech as well as a literal term. Meaning.. don't show off and think you can do this without equipment. Its further and deeper than it looks and cold.as.ice. the majority die.from panic and surfacing too fast and smashing their heads off the rocks... I lived 30 minutes from here. I know all the stories
I think anyone who's a strong swimmer, has the confidence and know how far and have an idea of the distance and depth should be fine. But for amateur swimmers beware dont try it...
