You pushed the rice button, which said 12 minutes for the pre-programmed rice setting but then you changed it to 8 minutes. It has built in times for cooking & pressure release. The 2nd meal you didn't stir liquid into the rice & again you adjusted the time once it was set so it undid the setting, resultingin the burn. In the Mac cheese attempt for some reason you set it to low pressure when you were supposed to cook on high pressure. Almost e erything is cooked on high pressure. I hope this was helpful, that's what I was going for. 🤗

Hi. Just saw your video and I looked up the recipe for the 20 minute chicken burrito bowl. I think the reason it burned is the ingredients weren’t added according to the list. It’s step 1 of the directions. So, the broth is added first, then the chicken, then seasoning, then rice…Thanks for the video

If you add just a little bit of olive oil in the bottom of the pot, then ad your rice and give it a stir for about 20 seconds, you’ll have zero issues with rice stuck to the stainless steel pot. Same with the chicken burrito bowl.

I think soups and beans are where the instant pot really shines. It extracts a lot of flavor in a relatively short period of time. The higher end instant pots have handles that keep the pot from spinning, and I definitely think it's worth it. You guys did really well for your first time using an instapot! I'm going to have to make that Thai soup now.

I have this same instant pot and kept getting the burn notice. Turns out after i had washed my lid and stored it for a bit, the rubber sealing ring was not sitting in the lid properly, which made it so it couldnt come to pressure, which would keep it on the heat longer making it burn. Now i check all the pieces every time i cook and havent had the problem since! Could be something to keep in mind when using this model! Love from Alabama in the US!

While being in "Yogurt" or "Keep Warm" setting, can you adjust the temperature "manually" on these once you are within "Custom" setting, (to 100F, 105F, 110F, etc). It took me even longer than you to realize what I had done. I was terrified to open it up, but it was fine. Adding a couple teaspoons of oil to the rice, and mixing it in, before you turn it on helps immensely with texture and stickiness. I would have also added a little salt. It would have also helped with the chicken recipe. I would have added a couple tablespoons to that.

Good suggestions. In addition, rinse the rice (uncooked) 2 to 3 times - or run under sink with rice in a fine gauze strainer. That will remove some of the excess starch and reduce the stickiness as well. =)

I bought one instant pot duo plus in Saudi Arabia 4 yrs ago and used it sparingly since then. Last July we went home the Philippines for good. Last month, we used the unit and it was working well. Suddenly, it stopped. No message in the monitor. I was looking for a replacement of 10-ampere fuse in the plug thinking that it may be the reason why it stopped. Question: can I cut the plug and replace it with another plug that does not require a fuse? Thanks for your reply.

The IP can’t have a thick liquid when you set it to pressure up. So you have to add water or broth and after venting add a roux which you have made in another pot. I’d say remove excess liquid first after venting.
It’s an argument for getting a second inner pot.

Did you blend the ham soup? I mean in a blender, or an immersion blender? That's how I do it. Delicious! You can also add peas with all the other vegetables and make a pea soup. (I call it a ham soup, or else my husband won't eat it!) LOL!
Also, try this. If the larger portion of the ham bone beaks, add the marrow to the soup and blend it. (marrow is not a pleasing texture to some people & all children.) Oh, my God, the flavor is UNBELIEVABLY delicious!!!

You said it is missing a shelf, simply buy a tall trivet that fits the pot and hey presto, you have a second cooking surface basically a shelf. It simply stand in whatever is in the bottom and becomes a second shelf. I use this method all the time, I also use pot in pot cooking, which is basically cooking rice (use a 1 ratio of water to rice)in a separate bowl or you can cook any veggies or anything else you like that has a similar cooking time, to your main meal.

the burnt rice was disappointing to see for the burrito bowl. I just got this instant pot to make L. Reuteri Yogurt in. I think other than that I'll do thai food and vegetable soups through this instant pot duo.

You did not delazed the bottom of your pot before pressure cooking. That is why you got the burn notice. Watch on you tube PRESSURE LUCK COOKING. JEFFERY EISNER. He is great at showing you how to use your instant pot. He taught me how to use mine and I use it all the time. I love it.
