The Falcons were thin on the ground that year. Johnson and thats it really. The size of those tyres was ridiculous. Great race though. Some good battles early on. Loved those rx7 Group C cars. And how about the BMW, lower on power and higher on weight than the commodore. Didnt need huge wings to make it go though.
Moffat knocks off Brock and then just annihilates Grice !! Go MOFFAT , Go ROTARY RX7 !!!! I think I'll just have another sip of me beer while I watch this for the n'th time. ☺☺☺☺
After this race many believes they should have just given Moffat the James Hardie 1000 winners trophy, such was his favouritism. Little did they know.....
I remember watching these races. Johnson always found a way to let us ford fans down. My uncle went out and bought a Bluebird after watching how well they went in the ATCC. It was the worst family car ever.
Aaaaah ha ha ha couldn't stop laughing. Neil Crompton is just a boy. Crikey, now does that make me bloody old. Onya Crompt, still doing a good job today.
@@dj17q You're right... Clevos in Group C could usually cover 300 metres and then they blew up. This time the clutch saved the engine from the usual embarrassment... Even Murray Carter gave up on 'em... Juvie...
You can see why series like this die on their asses due to escalating costs. Piss poor management allow a grid full of touring cars look like a mod prod grid. Other than safety equipment and brake pad material change. If it ent fitted on the car you buy, you ent bloody using it.
Johnson ever the tryhard was in the typical Moffat camp, wasting money time and effort on a car that was never as good a car as the commodore. The rubbish outdated leaf spring rear end was the least of his problems.
@@sezaiyuyucuoglu8249 Moff's 1983 No43 car is still around. We've since had a closer look at it... It is easily the most cheater car to ever get bribed through scrutineering & the Mongrel thing still couldn't cut it at Bathurst! All that noise for NOTHING!
I like spending Sundays watching these things in full length. Great stuff. A classic era
I've got a Rx7 just like Moffat' s sitting in my garage gathering dust.
I sit next to it , crack open a can of vb and watch these races on me phone. 😎

Crompo is still a boy here. 😂
so he was a pit reporter, then a driver, then up to the broadcasting booth?

Yea but cams gave holden more changes because they complained in actual fact Moffat told cams that the rx7 wont match the v8's at bathurst.

yeah they were a big bulky square lump of a thing. Hard to make the XE falcon look any good.
No leaf springs on an XE....coil springs and Watts linkage
How biased are these commentators. ?
Mate just suck it up and admit it .
The rx7 was better than the dinasour v8 's
Not at Bathurst it wasn't.

Ooppss you got me there 😉
