20:14 One error here, Maine (and US BB's) do not have the same dispersion as Colombo (and Italian BB's). The "standard" battleship dispersion is found on the Italian and French BB's, and the US, UK, Spanish, and German BB's have what I call the US dispersion curve. The US dispersion is _slightly_ better than the standard, with 210 m vs 213 m dispersion at 15 km. Notably, the German BB's used to have the standard curve but were buffed to the US curve a while ago. So Colombo with both upgrades for a combined 11% modifier still has worse dispersion than the Maine with its 11% upgrade because the base dispersion curve is worse. Also, 0.1 sigma is a noticeable difference. I think one good change for Libertad and Spanish BB's would be to switch them from the US curve to the standard curve. Not sure why they gave it the US dispersion curve in the first place.
You're correct...but both Colombo's upgrade modules giver her a 13% boost, not 11%. Still not quite enough to close the gap with Montana and Maine.....but Colombo has 4 more barrels than Montana....and well the Maine is a super ship....she's supposed to be better.
The only reason i can see would be because the pan american ships are all supposed to be hand me downs from america. So i could see an argument for having the same american dispersion.

As a crusier main, Colombo is probably the most frustrating to play against, no matter how angled you are you always eat a massiv amount of damage. Its like playing against a satsuma with insane overmatch, but colombo has 16 freaking bullets in the air and better shell velocity then satsuma, theres nothing you can do against a colombo as a cruiser
Another cruiser player here, and probably will switch to destroyer. Feels like tier 6 cruiser again whenever I play against cc. Nothing you can do 😢. Wherever they hit my cruiser with sap feels like I take massive dmg however I angle if they don't miss completely

What would otherwise be overpen damage from a regular bb would also become full pen damage. Very frustrating to play against
Thank you for pointing out how fun and engaging the line grind is. If it wasn't for Asyms, I would have never reached Columbo. At least in Asyms, you can flank a mid tier IT BB to a side cap and step on it bow-in to the bots and probably last a long time while your team theoretically farms all the ships that focus on you. That's not useful in PVP, and barely reliable in Asyms if your team sucks, but at least it's a tactic that specifically works for something like Veneto.
I remember making so many people angry during the dead eye "meta", by simply moving forward, or suddenly deciding to open up on the BBs in the backline after having worked my way around in my DD. Suddenly 4 points of their commander builds weren't working anymore and they were not happy. Doesn't help that I was effectively getting the buff from dead eye buy just moving forward as well, because you know... dispersion gets better the closer you are at least to a point. If I remember right it effectively works out to every km you get closer to the target you get a roughly 10% boost to your dispersion, until you reach the point where your vertical dispersion becomes a cliff. Though I could be misremembering the exact amount of better dispersion for closing the distance. I do really get the feeling my response to dead eye was what Wargaming expected the community to do. "Why would I bother taking this 4 point skill when I can just move forward?" and "So a single DD can basically turn off the entire other teams dispersion buff, why would I want that?" Then everyone took it and sat super far in the back to the point they were effectively getting worse dispersion than if they had just played like they used to and didn't take Dead Eye, and I think Wargaming got rid of it more to help those players than it being a broken skill. Sadly those players learned if they just sit in the back and put a brick on their 1 key they can still score top half of the team. So that's all they do now thinking they are doing something right. 17:52 Yeah SAP has the same issue as any shell that overmatches. You can play 100% correctly and still be punished, but I highly doubt that's ever going to change. It's honestly a bit of schadenfreude I feel when playing the Italian BBs, that I get to give all the 457mm Battleships a taste of what they are giving to Cruisers on the regular. The best example was a Georgia complaining in the all chat that my Caracciolo was obviously overpowered because I was smacking him for 10k salvos every salvo even though he was angled, and then when he shot at me his shots bounced off of my upper belt. He went on a long rant for the rest of that battle about how unfair that was, because in his mind it was okay his ship could ignore armour, but not okay that my little T7 could effectively ignore his. All that said if overmatch ever gets the balance pass it so desperately needs, I would like to see SAP given normal pen angles, or at least only slightly improved pen angles. Something like 50-70° on the SAP would be nice. It's not like a target perfectly bow in is safe from your SAP anyway, as you can still rake the superstructure. You don't need the 70-80° that SAP has now.
Yeah literally. Even with deadeye I would simply operate around 1-2km further than my detection range to guarantee the best dispersion. Caught an Iowa at 14km and one shot it.
I got my Colombo in perfect time. Started to grind line in the beginning of the year after they gave Aurora Di Natale as free commander last christmas. Suffered enough until reaching tier 8 but distracted with Al Littorio during summer before getting Veneto. Di Natale became my permanent captain for that ship while getting Sansonetti for my Venezia & Napoli on late summer. Ended up converting my old Venezia commander for tech tree line and with more suffering + impatience caused lots of free xp usage to get Colombo but oh boy she worth every bit of free xp that i used. Have been playing with her for 2 months now (half of it without legendary upgrade but got it thanks to the free Shimakaze that i reset the line for x2 points) and the satisfaction she gives is more than any type of secondary brawler to me as a player who loves secondary ships in general and was so happy to get Pan American line at first but Colombo made me forget to play with Libertad actually. If Colombo gets a nerf before Pan American ships, i would be upset not gonna lie but i don't think (believe) that she'll get a big nerf that making her crippled heavily. I think they should find the middle. Without the legendary mod its underwhelming and simply not a good BB. Legendary mod is a mandatory buff to this ship, which is not what a legendary mod should be. So if they decide to nerf it, they should go just for the mod. Wouldn't mind if they buff some tiny base thing about the ship itself. As others mentioned it, people like playing it currently to counter the high Libertard population.
Anyway they could very slightly nerf the SAP pen angles so it still works against angled targets but not seem to have the same effectiveness against near fully angled targets, if you get the distinction there
Merry christmas to you and your family, have a good and peaceful time! The problem with Colombo isn`t the accuracy, it`s the SAP ammo. Most Colombos i met were played with SAP only, it is a no-skill ammo. Just aim everywhere on an opponent ship and get huge damage is the wrong way so i think SAP needs a huge nerf. Half the damage and pen would be great. The grind to Colombo isn`t that hard, only the tier 7 Caracciolo is a very bad ship. It misses so many times that i was frustrated, took free xp and jumped to Vittorio Veneto. Good decision, this ship performs well for me. Now the next target is Lepanto.
The Petro upgrade is great, too. Pair it with the relevant captain skill, and your ap is doing 15% more damage. Even makes BB eyes water when you slap them.
I absolutely love Columbo and I gotta say that probably what made the changes so impactful is that she was already pretty strong thanks to SAP, 16 guns and 360 rear turrets though what held it back was the inconsistency of the 15 inch rifles. She was already sooo close to greatness so when they buffed both the sigma and gave her the leg mod the scales flipped and she went to probably a bit too strong.

Best gun BB at T10 and 11. current CB season(in EU at least) most clans are all running Colombo over any t11 BB. Though some of it comes from T11 cruisers have much higher impact than T11 BBs.
just fyi for PQ, in Asia people rarely know about the legendary upgrade on any ship if they're not being told by their friends or constantly updating with the game update, even some of them have the weirdest ship build I ever seen, some people still run Yamato secondary build....
i stopped playing CAs in ranked due to this ship in so many matches. i was always getting killed in 2-3 salvos from long range and bow on. just nuts how many shells land on your ship while being as skinny as you can be.
When I play the CC I always get focused on and rightly so, if this ship makes it till end of game even in a loss it’s a min 200k damage easily. High impact BB.
Accuracy is really difficult to balance, especially the maximum dispersion circle statistic. With sigma buff you have the comparison between irian and kutuzov, and the 0.05 sigma difference is easily visable. But with max dispersion circle it's difficult. -3% is just not be a noticeable difference, but then -6% becomes something like the Colombo UU that results in a 40% damage buff.
I am fairly new to the game and I am curious as to what mods add those angled lines to the aiming reticle and the added information in the lower left corner?
I think one interesting way you could nerf Colombo would be to let her keep the accuracy and LegMod, but drop her range; this gives people without the LegMod the advantage of being able to run Range Mod in Slot 6, and allow them to play at safer ranges while LegMod pushes the ship into a more aggressive and shorter-range playstyle. (She'd still be just as dangerous, but forcing her forward means she'll take a lot more damage in return.)
The horrid climb to mia Colombo is rewarded with the 'balanced' approach to the T10 legmod...and let's not forget the T8 DD is the best one in the line. I really wanted my Italian bread and homemade sauce enjoyment but a nation of passion turns out to be the misunderstood step brother to the mighty Germans. Sure, I'm happy to negotiate a solution that includes a firm upgrade hand for the rest of the Italian experience. I learned me up on the cruisers so no touchee the Napoli or Venezia either. Mama mia 'tater tot...more Italian not less!
But for me idk why when i use Sansonetti on bb and range boost is always getting better accuracy and dispersion idk if u guys feel that too, especially when i use marco AP the dispersion turns into slava dispersion ngl
@IamHexon0101 mines linked to Venezia, since I got him when that line came out and changing him would be a hassle now. Accuracy is based off of range though, so increasing your range does slightly also increase your accuracy. It's not something WG tells you, but it is a core mechanic of the game. He's a good captain really no matter what you put him on, but I'd recommend him on the DDs if you plan on playing them a lot. Premiums like Marco can have him for free though.

Sap also removes the overpen problem of overpening everything even overpening the kermlin when u hit it in the middle it's like how how does that overpen
In ranked and brawls this is the only ship that scares me when I see it on the opposing team. I can't angle against it, the pens will always get through.

Hey, as a newer player, I’m curious. With that gun feeder thing where switching amo types is quicker than your reload, what if after you fire, you swap to the other amo type and then immediately swap back. Do you end up with like a faster reload then lol?
So what did they change? I just came back to play WoWs. It seems like they gave the steel ship sap now right? Did they nerf the Reload on the Col? It seems really high. What is it like 37s reload?!? That seems really long.
As a thorough enjoyer of CC i will just add that it is not overpowered in any way, in fact if we are to complain about colombo then the british ships are beyond broken, colombo does not start fires with sap, the guns can sometimes troll hard, low base hp, and sap in of itself is a shell that is weird on wether or not it does something to armor sometimes, people act like the mod is the game changer but i do not use it and i can still do 100k plus 9 out of 10 games, what i hate the most is players that angle as a salvo that could be 30 k will do like 5 or 10 k on 30 second reload, much like ap. The absolute best thing the ship has is the smoke, it is a versatile tool that allows you to escape pinches and sneak into action, it is however a double edged sword as you are effectively making yourself blind as well, a dd can be 3 km from you and you wont know, spotter plane is very usefull in smoke even if just to briefly see your surroundings, but i would advise making good use of the spotter plane as sap slaps extra hard when aimed from above, also the guns can have an extremely nice turn rate when aiming forward whilst maintaining angle, great for pushing in but do remember that the turrets are horrendously slow and need to be pre aimed for drive bys, also the full pen no citadel salvo hits for 40 k so do keep it in mind if your opponent is low enough you dont need citadels, sap and ap can both be used in brawling but i recomend ap as it is less likely to just bounce.
Please try numancia again, they removed the accuracy penalty for the burst on her. 20-30k into cruisers and 10-15k into battleships ! She's a stealthy assassin against nearly any ship type now. Merry Christmas to you 😁
Maybe because its SAP are OP. This thing will do massive damages at each salvo, nearly like the overmatching shells. When I play cruiser against it, I hate it.
Once you have 5 T10 tech tree ships unlocked you will be able to reset the tech line. Playing through it again (or jumping with FXP) will grant RP. Look up "Research Bureau"
I like it if they overhole older stuff to be on par with the new released stuff. But I can proudly say: I wanted Colombo since your 10.0 (?) video about it and grinded the line lazily over the years and got I roughly when the buff happened. So: I'm not one of those guys who got it because of the buffs. ;) I hope it stays in a good shape in future. Maybe nerf SAP a bit, but not sigma/firing angles. The range itself ist also very much a limiting factor and not everyone is willing to get the special captain (for money).
Only bought her this ranked sprint chucked uu on it immediately. climbed thru silver with a 75% wr and a pr around 2k. Dropped a decent chunk since gold but still only ship I used for all my silver games haah
To be honest. Grind wasnt that bad as everyone on TH-cam says it is... Yes tier 7, 8 felt mediocre but back in the day when I was grinding Preussen line... Gneisenau, bismarck... These ships were such a pain. They couldnt hit barn doors from inside the barn... Remember so many broadsides resulting in one overpen... That was horrible... Italians nowadays are not bad. Wouldnt recommended it as a first BB line to go for but yeah... For me it was quite enjoyable to grind
WG give Improved secondarys to Sicilia! cut 1 or 2 seconds of the secondarys GK accuracy and range. Also maybe buff the Sicilias 25mm strip on her citadesl to 35mm (kinda optional
I quite frankly still hardly ever see a colombo, except for my own, because colombo has been a favourite of mine for a long time, you can get away with things you cannot get away with on other ships.
Nice ship for us older players not fast at mouse and keyboard like these younger guys, 360 degree rear turrets make you fire 16 guns almost full time, 9 seconds for ammo swiching, citadels on light cruisers with sap at 10ish KM, some 30k shots at 19km with SAP in SS, 1 min of smoke peace, and actually stats are there with legmod my damage went from 105 to 120k and WR from 52 to 55%, great ship, and now with collection tokens you can get Sansonetti for about 130k Coal.
Not just yet, reloads really slow and while it does have big guns, it also lacks the smoke, so I'm expecting them to buff her again, at least for it to be viable
this ship is so broken that i get citadels on my yammy even when properly angled and far away and when no cits u still eat massive dmg. Its the reason im grinding this line now. Super broken as heck. I hope they dont nerf it yet before i get it
They can nerf Zao Leg mod for some reason, I guess a nerf on CC Leg mod make the most sense? maybe add a turret traverse penalty or just remove the reload buff like Yamato.
As an Italian, and a pasta line main, I’m very happy that Colombo is getting this much love. Pastas werent that great, so I say leave Colombo like this. Now hopefully Attilio also gets a buff… copium?
I bought the legendary mod the day it came out this year and never stopped playing Colombo in ranked. I hate that you're making it popular now... the nerf will probably come sooner rather than later, I fear. It's just too much fun in ranked. You can literally smell the panic from the enemy when you hit that cruiser for 30k with the first salvo of the game, before they even reach their desired position. Then, they run around like headless chickens. The second salvo is usually the finishing blow if you have a good team, and from there, the enemy team most likely tilts, and everything crumbles. You gotta love the toxicity of today’s society, paired with people who are too stubborn to adapt to the situation. They end up blaming everyone but their own fragile egos for the mistakes they make, only to head into round two where-"somehow"-the exact same thing happens to them.
i dont think bbs needs to be nerf eccept for libertad who needs a little nerf but the dinosaur ships like the yamato needs a buff otherwise they are almost impossible to have a enjoyable experience i mean ever since kremlin was release suddenly the turret traverse speed of ships arent that slow on the new bbs so is libertad new ships would highly get good or prop mod included i mean atlest buff yamato leg mode by removing the turret traverse penalty by a 6% reload buff
@@ngdthanh26 you need to research three or five entire lines to the tier 10, then you'll get the option to completely reset the research for some RB points, there are ships exclusive to RB and all legendary upgrades are exclusive to RB
I am grinding the Colombo now for one reason. Libertards in ranked. I have libertard, but it is so freaking overpowered that it is just disgusting. Ships that play themselves need to be punished accordingly.

I feel they should had a downside to the leg mod like -10% SAP dmg. That would make the ship more AP focus and change a bit its playstyle

Anyway they could very slightly nerf the SAP pen angles so it still works against angled targets but not seem to have the same effectiveness against near fully angled targets, if you get the distinction there
but in that way you will hurt the whole line, which it's far from amazing

The problem with Colombo isn`t the accuracy, it`s the SAP ammo. Most Colombos i met were played with SAP only, it is a no-skill ammo. Just aim everywhere on an opponent ship and get huge damage is the wrong way so i think SAP needs a huge nerf. Half the damage and pen would be great.
The grind to Colombo isn`t that hard, only the tier 7 Caracciolo is a very bad ship. It misses so many times that i was frustrated, took free xp and jumped to Vittorio Veneto. Good decision, this ship performs well for me. Now the next target is Lepanto.
I'd be happy with a reduction in damage in exchange for a reduction in reload time.

Pair it with the relevant captain skill, and your ap is doing 15% more damage. Even makes BB eyes water when you slap them.
Colombo was my 3rd tier X. I wanted it so much mainly because of those 16guns and 360 turrets.
I absolutely love Columbo and I gotta say that probably what made the changes so impactful is that she was already pretty strong thanks to SAP, 16 guns and 360 rear turrets though what held it back was the inconsistency of the 15 inch rifles. She was already sooo close to greatness so when they buffed both the sigma and gave her the leg mod the scales flipped and she went to probably a bit too strong.
One of my favorite ships! SAP is amazing and evens the playing field with bigger armed ships.

current CB season(in EU at least) most clans are all running Colombo over any t11 BB.
Though some of it comes from T11 cruisers have much higher impact than T11 BBs.
just fyi for PQ, in Asia people rarely know about the legendary upgrade on any ship if they're not being told by their friends or constantly updating with the game update, even some of them have the weirdest ship build I ever seen, some people still run Yamato secondary build....
i stopped playing CAs in ranked due to this ship in so many matches. i was always getting killed in 2-3 salvos from long range and bow on. just nuts how many shells land on your ship while being as skinny as you can be.
When I play the CC I always get focused on and rightly so, if this ship makes it till end of game even in a loss it’s a min 200k damage easily. High impact BB.
Accuracy is really difficult to balance, especially the maximum dispersion circle statistic. With sigma buff you have the comparison between irian and kutuzov, and the 0.05 sigma difference is easily visable. But with max dispersion circle it's difficult. -3% is just not be a noticeable difference, but then -6% becomes something like the Colombo UU that results in a 40% damage buff.
Colombo is great for the passive meta, it's the only battleship that can reliably damage a kiting enemy.
The ship is actualy prety strong, but the leg mod made it an absolute powerhouse😂

I think one interesting way you could nerf Colombo would be to let her keep the accuracy and LegMod, but drop her range; this gives people without the LegMod the advantage of being able to run Range Mod in Slot 6, and allow them to play at safer ranges while LegMod pushes the ship into a more aggressive and shorter-range playstyle. (She'd still be just as dangerous, but forcing her forward means she'll take a lot more damage in return.)

I really wanted my Italian bread and homemade sauce enjoyment but a nation of passion turns out to be the misunderstood step brother to the mighty Germans. Sure, I'm happy to negotiate a solution that includes a firm upgrade hand for the rest of the Italian experience. I learned me up on the cruisers so no touchee the Napoli or Venezia either. Mama mia 'tater tot...more Italian not less!
Don’t forget the added Coal cost on top to run this thing. Italian tech tree ships are godawful without the Legendary Commander at the helm.

For anyone wondering, Regalo is definitely the Italian Tech Tree T10 that benefits best from Sansonetti. Any range boost will make Regalo very happy.
But for me idk why when i use Sansonetti on bb and range boost is always getting better accuracy and dispersion idk if u guys feel that too, especially when i use marco AP the dispersion turns into slava dispersion ngl

Accuracy is based off of range though, so increasing your range does slightly also increase your accuracy. It's not something WG tells you, but it is a core mechanic of the game.
He's a good captain really no matter what you put him on, but I'd recommend him on the DDs if you plan on playing them a lot. Premiums like Marco can have him for free though.

Sap also removes the overpen problem of overpening everything even overpening the kermlin when u hit it in the middle it's like how how does that overpen

Hey, as a newer player, I’m curious. With that gun feeder thing where switching amo types is quicker than your reload, what if after you fire, you swap to the other amo type and then immediately swap back. Do you end up with like a faster reload then lol?

So what did they change? I just came back to play WoWs. It seems like they gave the steel ship sap now right? Did they nerf the Reload on the Col? It seems really high. What is it like 37s reload?!? That seems really long.

As a thorough enjoyer of CC i will just add that it is not overpowered in any way, in fact if we are to complain about colombo then the british ships are beyond broken, colombo does not start fires with sap, the guns can sometimes troll hard, low base hp, and sap in of itself is a shell that is weird on wether or not it does something to armor sometimes, people act like the mod is the game changer but i do not use it and i can still do 100k plus 9 out of 10 games, what i hate the most is players that angle as a salvo that could be 30 k will do like 5 or 10 k on 30 second reload, much like ap. The absolute best thing the ship has is the smoke, it is a versatile tool that allows you to escape pinches and sneak into action, it is however a double edged sword as you are effectively making yourself blind as well, a dd can be 3 km from you and you wont know, spotter plane is very usefull in smoke even if just to briefly see your surroundings, but i would advise making good use of the spotter plane as sap slaps extra hard when aimed from above, also the guns can have an extremely nice turn rate when aiming forward whilst maintaining angle, great for pushing in but do remember that the turrets are horrendously slow and need to be pre aimed for drive bys, also the full pen no citadel salvo hits for 40 k so do keep it in mind if your opponent is low enough you dont need citadels, sap and ap can both be used in brawling but i recomend ap as it is less likely to just bounce.
It was always a solid BB, but leg mod is not an upgrade to lose dpm for barely any accuracy

Please try numancia again, they removed the accuracy penalty for the burst on her. 20-30k into cruisers and 10-15k into battleships ! She's a stealthy assassin against nearly any ship type now.

how to get research tokens for leg upgrade ?
Once you have 5 T10 tech tree ships unlocked you will be able to reset the tech line. Playing through it again (or jumping with FXP) will grant RP. Look up "Research Bureau"
Regrinding tech tree branches you've already got to tier 10.
I like it if they overhole older stuff to be on par with the new released stuff. But I can proudly say: I wanted Colombo since your 10.0 (?) video about it and grinded the line lazily over the years and got I roughly when the buff happened. So: I'm not one of those guys who got it because of the buffs. ;)
I hope it stays in a good shape in future. Maybe nerf SAP a bit, but not sigma/firing angles. The range itself ist also very much a limiting factor and not everyone is willing to get the special captain (for money).
Only bought her this ranked sprint chucked uu on it immediately. climbed thru silver with a 75% wr and a pr around 2k. Dropped a decent chunk since gold but still only ship I used for all my silver games haah
To be honest. Grind wasnt that bad as everyone on TH-cam says it is... Yes tier 7, 8 felt mediocre but back in the day when I was grinding Preussen line... Gneisenau, bismarck... These ships were such a pain. They couldnt hit barn doors from inside the barn... Remember so many broadsides resulting in one overpen... That was horrible... Italians nowadays are not bad. Wouldnt recommended it as a first BB line to go for but yeah... For me it was quite enjoyable to grind
WG give Improved secondarys to Sicilia! cut 1 or 2 seconds of the secondarys GK accuracy and range. Also maybe buff the Sicilias 25mm strip on her citadesl to 35mm (kinda optional
I quite frankly still hardly ever see a colombo, except for my own, because colombo has been a favourite of mine for a long time, you can get away with things you cannot get away with on other ships.
Nice ship for us older players not fast at mouse and keyboard like these younger guys, 360 degree rear turrets make you fire 16 guns almost full time, 9 seconds for ammo swiching, citadels on light cruisers with sap at 10ish KM, some 30k shots at 19km with SAP in SS, 1 min of smoke peace, and actually stats are there with legmod my damage went from 105 to 120k and WR from 52 to 55%, great ship, and now with collection tokens you can get Sansonetti for about 130k Coal.
the c.colombo was useful because it 3rd and 4th turrets can have a 360 degrees turn

They can nerf Zao Leg mod for some reason, I guess a nerf on CC Leg mod make the most sense? maybe add a turret traverse penalty or just remove the reload buff like Yamato.

I bought the legendary mod the day it came out this year and never stopped playing Colombo in ranked. I hate that you're making it popular now... the nerf will probably come sooner rather than later, I fear.
It's just too much fun in ranked. You can literally smell the panic from the enemy when you hit that cruiser for 30k with the first salvo of the game, before they even reach their desired position. Then, they run around like headless chickens. The second salvo is usually the finishing blow if you have a good team, and from there, the enemy team most likely tilts, and everything crumbles.
You gotta love the toxicity of today’s society, paired with people who are too stubborn to adapt to the situation. They end up blaming everyone but their own fragile egos for the mistakes they make, only to head into round two where-"somehow"-the exact same thing happens to them.
i dont think bbs needs to be nerf eccept for libertad who needs a little nerf but the dinosaur ships like the yamato needs a buff otherwise they are almost impossible to have a enjoyable experience

The legmods are in the research Bureau, which is unlocked after resetting a ship line

@@ngdthanh26 you need to research three or five entire lines to the tier 10, then you'll get the option to completely reset the research for some RB points, there are ships exclusive to RB and all legendary upgrades are exclusive to RB
