Please do AN ENTIRE video on Wuthering Heights. I'd love to hear your thoughts and what you have to say doing a deep dive. It's one of my favorite books of all time! I feel like it's negative comments always reference the toxicity of the relationship, but I just feel like those readers are only doing a surface level reading and being one dimensional in their review because the story is so much more than that! I'd love to hear what you think!

Haven't gotten too far into the video yet, however I wanted to put it out there that if you want an alternative to comments for Q&A questions (or any other discussions and things) the Community tab might be a good place! A lot of the creators I watch have started using the feature and I've personally started to really like it as well :)

I am a fifth grade teacher and one of the units I teach is the children’s version of Don Quixote. At the end of the unit they have to write an essay on the topic “Do Don Quixote’s good intentions justify his actions?” Hearing you talk about reading it in grad school, makes me feel like I am actually making a difference in my students lives, in helping them understand this piece of literature.

You seem to have a talent for pointing out symbolic themes. Hands. Necks. Fruit. You have such a knack for pointing out the way these things are used to further storytelling through metaphor and motif! It's so fun hearing you sprinkle in those insights throughout your videos.

    Questions for your Q&A:
    - What did you get your Bachelor's degree in?
    - What do you do for work?
    - What made you decide to go get your Master's?
    - Do you want to pursue the same job/career that you intended when you started your Master's?
Thank you! Love your channel! And congratulations on getting married! Would love to hear more about that (and your husband), as well!

    Questions for the Q&A:
Did your grandma’s love of books inspire you to study books?
Were your dogs featured in the wedding?
What did you like/dislike in you master studies?
How do you feel at the moment?
    Is married life super fun?
I hope your mental health is getting better. I really enjoy that you are posting videos more regularly, they always brighten my day ♥️

I am in love with a more educational review of these books. I love English literature and analysing these stories in ways that the first read might not encapsulate. The Invisible Man was the first classic novel I ever read and I still say it's the best book I've ever read. I read all the books in my elementary school so my librarian would often tell me which books to pick up from our local library like the Invisible Man. I reread it every now and then and it's still so great.

I think it's great that your professor encouraged a reparative reading of Milton. Sometimes our first impressions aren't the most interesting ones when reading and it's always nice to be exposed to different perspectives and see what literature has to offer that you might not have initially seen.

Not a question, but I wanted to leave you a compliment. Idk of you remember when I commented on one of your earlier videos from when you first started grad school when you were scared for the future endeavors of school and I encouraged you that you can do it, especially if someone like me whose married with 3 kids and teaches full time can do it. I just want to say that I'm so proud of you for sticking with it and coming out strong on the other side. I know it means a lot to your followers watching, and it encourages them to keep going in their busy lives during times where it may seem overwhelming to keep going. I’m not sure if these questions have been answered previously, but here’s some Q&A:
What did you get your bachelors in?
What is the career goal now that you have a masters? (I’m working on a bachelors and thinking about getting a masters but I have no clue what types of jobs exist after a masters😭)
And one last thing, not a question but a suggestion of some classics that I love that maybe you would like to check out (though you’ve probably already read/heard of these): The Awakening by Kate Chopin, The Stranger by Albert Camus, and We Have Always Lived in the Castle by Shirley Jackson ☺️

As much as I love all of your recommendations… these videos are IT. this is what made me subscribe in the first place… something about just really dissecting a book and talking about it from different points of ideas and themes just ignites my reading flame! I also love easy and fluff reads but these discussions are the core of why I love to read. Great job Noelle!! Congrats on your degree, I know it was well earned.

It would honestly save my grade probably 😂

So fun watching these videos. I watched these grad school videos in my undergrad and it made me excited to think I could be in grad school one day. Now I'm in grad school and after I applied I found out I'm in the same program Noelle went through and so watching these videos is so fun now knowing the professors she's talking about. Hearing you speak about your Milton Professor makes me miss my English Lit class in high school (who made Shakespeare fun to read and analyze). Having a teacher who makes complicated reading material not only interesting and fun but helps you learn how to break the concepts down and consider the themes further on your own is truly amazing. I’m just starting to read Dracula (I’m about a third of the way through), and I’m finding it amazing. It’s a slow go for me, because it’s in the forms of journal entries, etc., but after getting over that it’s a very potent read. Old fashioned, but old fashioned can be good.

My Question, well more like a couple of questions really:
Do you want to study further? (PHD)
How are you going to utilise your Masters? (Professor Noelle?)
Have you ever wanted to write a Novel? Have you written short stories?

YESSS Wuthering Heights! Not sure how much Daphne du Maurier you've read, but if you liked WH, I think you would really like a lot of her work. It has a lot of the same atmosphere and style.
I recently finished my English degree, and some of my favorite books I read were Beowulf, The Bell Jar, Machinal by Sophie Treadwell, Othello, On Earth We're Briefly Gorgeous, and Detransition Baby.

Happy belated birthday!! 🥰 Thanks for sharing this - I am so on the fence about grad school for lit because I did undergrad in it and loved it so much.
    Q&A stuff!
    • How do you manage your time and priorities? Do you paper journal? What are your top priorities now that school is done?
    • How is therapy going? Do you still go regularly?
    • What will you miss most about grad school? Did you have a favorite professor and if so, what did they teach and what did you appreciate learning from them? (Aside from your Milton professor - she sounds legit!)
    • Gym routine! What do you do and how did you decide your routine?
    • What are you looking forward to this week? This month? For the rest of the year? The next 5 years?
I just want a good Noelle sit-down and general life chat. ☺ Thank you for sharing you and your thoughts!!!

I also got to do a unit on Paradise Lost (in undergrad) and found I loved it!!! My school offered a whole class on it and if I ever go back for my Masters I wanna take it for sure. I was surprised how interesting it was.

I read Invisible Man as part of my "Black Literature" class (That's what it was called in 1979). Along with some other fantastic novels like Native Son, Black Boy, and A Raisin in the Sun, this course was my first introduction to books by African American authors - very eye opening.

Dracula, Frankenstein, Maltese falcon, and Wuthering Heights, I love them so much. Read them in high school and I would have never read them if it weren't for school 😅

I finished Frankenstein and almost immediately jumped into reading Paradise Lost because I couldn't help it. Still, I have to slow down anyway because I'm a non-native English speaker, it's so hard to know what was going on and finally, I've chosen to listen to an audiobook.
Also, there's a book called Heaven and Hell by Jon Kalman Stefansson, Emma (from the 'emmie' channel) talked about it and it was when I first read about Paradise Lost. I love it so much. I'm not Christian so I'm not familiar with these stories of heaven and Satan, I just knew a little bit about The Creation because my cousin is Christian and when we were kids she read me a bit from her book. But I absolutely love reading these books because the characters are so fascinating. I changed my attitude towards the Creature many times and I feel bad for hating him, and then feel sorry, and then scared. I'm glad I didn't watch any movies about Frankenstein beforehand, so I was completely unaware of what the story was about, or how the Creature is supposed to "look" like (I'm still not convinced of all the images from the movies, though. I like to think of him as something that I'm scared of the most, not just from the appearance), and it was the most fun reading I've had for a while, 😂 and I'm currently feeling the same about Milton's Satan, which is GREAT.

Long time lurker, first time commenter... as a former English Major I feel like I am REALLY picky when it comes to what I read, I like depth. And if I'm being frank, lately, I feel like your channel has been more hits & misses than not, all that to say this HIT the spot *chef's kiss*. I don't like romance novels that everyone seems to be pushing lately and I'd like to request a little less of them from you in the future. That said, *Kanye voice* "imma let you finish" but Wuthering Heights CHANGED ME & knowing you loved it as much as I did somehow feels validating!!! This video also makes me want to revisit Paradise Lost, I too took a Milton class that I did not enjoy and you've made me want to challenge myself with it again. As for the Q&A, are you able to tell us what your BA was in? & how your graduate school process went & how it was different from undergrad? I am curious. I've been out of school for too long and I've been wanting to go back, I always hated writing (I'm not creative) but thoroughly enjoyed the reading & discussions that occurred.

I’m also in a masters program, what advice would you give yourself when drowning in grad school now that you are on the other side?? 2. My best friend is getting married in May - what are some of your favorite wedding gifts that you received? I need some inspiration! Love your videos!

Milton is fascinating! It was my favorite class I took (I only got a minor in English). I already loved the Satanic School (wordsworth, Coleridge, Byron, Keats, etc.) So reading paradise lost and seeing where they got the name from and the origin or their ideas behind the byronic hero (Milton's satan) was absolutely fascinating!

Gosh I'm so interested in reading Your papers. Like the one on hands?!?!?! And these mentioned here. It's amazing how You notice those things - fruits this time. I would love to hear more "gradschool level" talk on books. Also this is the stuff I read on the daily for fun and noone to talk to about it :p

Love this video! Wuthering Heights is a personal fave, as well as Carmilla, so I was glad to see you mention it. For the Q&A, I would really like to know how you developed your “eye” for identifying symbolism in literature. I always love hearing your perspective on symbols like hands, necks, fruit (to name a few), and I’m wondering if you have any tips about how to develop this skill in finding unique symbolism that could possibly be easily overlooked. Thanks! ♥️
