I feel like Gringotts would've been better as a set in this scale. A higher price, some more pieces count but instead of two buildings, it should've been one. It would be a great and affordable playset for kids.
Imo a big advantage of the new set is that both front walls are complete, whereas in the 2020 version it's cut off on one side because of the 16x32 baseplate.
Since I already have both Diagon Alley sets I’m passing on this, but if they release a store that wasn’t in either I’d consider getting that. I did combine both sets in one display by adding a lower floor to Gringotts and attaching Borgin and Burkes off the Knockturn Alley entryway.
I think I prefer this quite a bit to the big DA set. The overload of products that are straight from the books & films is what sells it for me. They even had the punching telescope Hermione gets attacked by in the book. It's far more interesting to me than sets of stairs.
@@Ashnflash Oh yeah I forgot abt that, I hope lego finds a way to still do that though cuz that would be sick. So that it would be your own choice if it's a standalone Gringotts or the whole Diagon Alley..
Personally, I think the old Wizard Wheezes set looks better, because it feels more complete. It’s kinda sad to see that Lego nowadays is cutting corners on sets in order to save money, but still charge more for so little.
Honestly I was little surprised by the size difference to the original Diagon Alley shop. Maybe there are more details regarding the equipment of the shop, but in general the build it's simpler. At the same time price per piece is higher and I am wondering how much we will need to pay for whole Diagon Alley in the new wave. I skipped the first Diagon Alley (due to price), but now wondering if starting collecting this - propably series - I will not end up spending more for less quality...
I dont think this is intended for folk that alrwady have the colossal diagon alley. This is mlre for folk who could never afford it but want to start a diagon alley and build it in stages over the next few years
Just saying you got Fred and George mixed up. George is the one with the Green under coat and purple shirt, and Fred has a orange under coat with a yellow shirt.😂
As someone who already owns the D2C, I’m not entirely sold on this set. It looks way too small. The extra details are nice though, stuff like the pygmy puffs and all that, but yeah not really enough to get me hype. If it ever goes on sale hella cheap I’ll get it, especially if it does connect to future sets, but for now I’ll pass.
It is absolutely unacceptable that they’ve for no clear reason abandoned the extremely expensive, beautiful, full Diagonal Alley set they already had just a minute ago instead of finishing that one off for us.
You’re acting as if this has been an ongoing thing the theme has been doing. There’s only one Diagon Alley set. There hasn’t been anything to expand it since. This isn’t like the yearly modulars, Marvel modulars or Ninjago City sets. But even if it were, I don’t think anyone would complain about if a small Daily Bugle play set released
i feel like this set is really cool but it's price is... yikes. i don't feel like it's worth that much, but i also don't want to pay 800+ dollars for diagon alley and gringotts
Are you okay, I notice that your hands shake a lot, I’ve sent this before because someone I know has tremors (not sure if you have the same thing) just looking out for you.
Your LEGO Ambassador bias is showing really bad this time around, I’m sorry to say 😅 This is an absolute rip off on LEGO’s part to be recreating the exact same thing so soon but just much worse (and yes, it is worse-less detailed, less beautiful, less accurate, much simpler and cruder). There is no other way to spin this.
There's no biased. I call it as I see it. To say it's less detailed is factually wrong as I pointed out the number of printed and stickered elements in the set compared to the original. There's also the new window elements that look infinitely better. This is an iconic location at a more affordable price for people. It also most likely means we'll get more shops that we would not ordinarily get. As mentioned it also stems from the idea of having stuff under Gringotts which the old way isn't possible. Think of it this way. LEGO has large scale models of Star Wars ships on the shelf at the same time as smaller minifigure scale ones. Ones not for collectors but ones that are more playsets. Same thing with Marvel with their Hulkbusters or Batman with their Batmobiles. Or heck best example - Harry Potter's Hogwarts Express from last year.
How? They’re literally starting a new wave of DA shops.. and hopefully we’ll get the other shops not already in the D2C.. the shop signs in this set might be a teaser
A pointless set in my opinion... Lego should have give us actual expansions to the Diagon Alley set instead of a rehash of Weasley's... the shops on the sign - Madam Malkin's, Magical Menageri and Sugarplums would all have been better, as would Eeylops Owl Emporium, the Leaky Cauldron or a better build for the Owl Post.
Why didn’t they at least make the base for the Weasley store square? The top I get because you wouldn’t be able to access the bottom so well if the first floor was squared but whyyy did they just cut off the corner on the base plate…?🥹

I really love the pigmypuffs… (those are the printed orbs…)
Great review as always, love these minifigs!
Thank you! Ya the figures are great!

See if you can spot the jar of U-No-Poo :)
If Gringotts doesn't attach to the D2C as well, I'm gonna be heeeeeellla pissed!
It cannot attach to the D2C. If it has a mine cart system and vault underneath. Then it will not be possible to attach it to a baseplate
It does attach to the D2c, there is a removable underground section with the carts and stuff. If that's removed you can attach it
If there’s a removable underground section then it does not connect. You cannot connect something underneath a baseplate.
@@Ashnflash Oh yeah I forgot abt that, I hope lego finds a way to still do that though cuz that would be sick. So that it would be your own choice if it's a standalone Gringotts or the whole Diagon Alley..
It's a great set to get if you can't afford the massive Diagon Alley. Hopefully it does go on sale soon to be a tad more affordable :)
I think when I get the set ill combine it with the modular one. Might just add a back and have it open up.
Thanks for doing the side by side comparison... its sometimes hard to judge building size from online images. Great review!

This is a perfect extension to the 2011 Diagon Alley Set!
8:09 ohh those are that fluffy animal Ginny gets in their shop. Pygmy puffs
Well if I have both, would really hope rebrickable would find a way for me to combine them, otherwise it's a waste.
i really hope they make an ollivanders in this scale, plus maybe a gringotts!
Real lovers of the shop will absolutely buy both and redo the og with all the updated/better references from the new one
Awesome video ashnflash
The size comparison is crazy. The new one is so tiny
Great review, thank you! I wasn’t going to get it but now I will and use it for parts to clutter up my big DA
Looks awesome great review Ahs

So is this going to be a yearly release to flush out all of Diagon Alley? That would be cool and more affordable over a few years.
The bunny makes the lame Muggle trick
So good as it's very significant
Therefore this is the Lego set in purchacinf🎉
I feel like they should've included some posters outside the builds

honestly if you have the big one, you might just skip this one...

I really like this set i think i prefer it over the old set
Since it's already a remake i wish they had made it modular. Having this in a Lego city would have been great. They do it for marvel now, why not HP?
Normally I buy every LEGO Harry Potter set, but it’s not possible this year and if the rumors are true, I want the Gringotts set later this year.
Does this set go well with the newly released Gringott’s Bank?
Nice set
OMG świetny zestaw 😍 super recenzja !!! Leci subik i łapka 👍👍👍
GREAT VIDEO ASHNFLASH. LEGO HARRY POTTER 2023 SET 👌 REVIEW
This looks really cool anyway and good price
Who said there was going to be a new wave of Diagon Alley sets, that would then connect with the new Gringotts?
I dont want to buy the new one but i probably will end up getting it eventually cos i want the minifigures lol
It's an interesting set.
They are actually different if you see the colors.
The two brothers
The same torso as in the ones from Diagon Alley
Ooh 😅😅 my bad, i thought you meant that they had the same torso
Are you okay, I notice that your hands shake a lot, I’ve sent this before because someone I know has tremors (not sure if you have the same thing) just looking out for you.
Yes, I have essential tremors. Thank you for your concern
@@Ashnflash no problem
This is for kids imo & shouldn’t be compared to the d2c xx
It should because it's literally the same building
7:18 That face is SO CREEPY!!
I hate the owl thing it to small
The vomiting thing is at universal studios cool
yo

1st!!
This set is proof that Lego Harry Potter is getting stale.
