    Robin : "So this is it. Mother is dead and Chrome has taken control of the One Concern. Crhome is the true main villain afterall! The final battle for the fate of the world is about to begin!"
    Elro: "No... no, we're done here"

    I get the feeling that a lot of Elro's suffering came from his own hands- hand, and that his life would be a lot better had he not want to jab every agent he sees with that bone-hurting juice.

      He let his anger over what happened to his father consume him, and his stubbornness meant that he'd never view anyone working for the One Concern as anything less than monstrous, even those who seemed sympathetic like Grey.

    Elro is the most "JUST" Character I've seen in ages. Lost an eye, an arm, a leg AND his family, most of it as a consequence of his own actions. I love the guy, but it just hurts to see him suffer so much. If only he just listened to other people...

      @@jgo4720 Grey was a higher-up in a totalitarian theocracy, which routinely massacres the population if they step out of line. The entire point of the Grey death scene is that no matter how much she presents as kind and sympathetic - it's ultimately a facade to help her feel better about herself, because there's no indication she did anything to defy or question the One Concern with the power she'd been granted. Her death, however sad, was an entirely justified act of resistance against tyrannical - the agents are the pillar of the One Concern's power.

    Elro is lowkey the villian of Iconoclast.
    Everything he does is (in his view) is meant to make things better.
    But he's proven wrong OVER AND OVER and refuses to see any of it as his fault.
    From begining to end he's small and unimportant: and yet he manages to damage the world, sabotage the casts efforts to fix the world, and even betrays his sister.
    He's the plots main driver and a selfish bastard that never really repents or takes responsibility.

    • @PomadaGaming
      @PomadaGaming 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      He never betrayed his sister i’ll tell you that

    • @Bedinsis
      @Bedinsis 3 ปีที่แล้ว +20

      Odd. That description also fits Royal.
      He tries to shove Robin onto the podium to award her efforts, and instead she was revealed as wanted.
      He tried to assure the cast that he had the authority to let them into the Tower outside of chains, they ended up jailed.
      His actions lead to the defeat of one of the bosses which led to it contacting Him and risking the fate of the planet.
      He tried to assure that he had the authority to let Robin into Concern East and utterly failed at it.
      He tried to assure that Mother could help with Elro's condition, only he 1. meant wash his sins away, not fix his arm as everybody assumed 2. failed at convincing Mother even at that.
      He tried to communicate with Him, but it did not succeed, it only meant that Robin was forced to abandon him to his doom.
      In other words:
      Everything he does is (in his view) is meant to make things better.
      But he's proven wrong OVER AND OVER and refuses to see any of it as his fault.
      From the beginning to end he's small and unimportant: and yet he manages to damage the world and sabotage the casts efforts to fix the world.

      @Bedinsis The difference is that Royal actually tried to do things for his people and learned from his mistakes. Elro acted totally selfish. Whilst Royal wanted to give the world a chance by talking to the starworm, Elro couldn’t care less about the fate of humanity.

    so... exactly what DID elro expect to happen when he injected "cooks off all the ivory at once" fluid into an ivory blooded agent? did he think the stuff would vaporize and a mortal person would stand there? did he think the agents who saw the whole thing wouldn't think to check his place of residence? didn't he think to warn his family about being caught at home when he had to expect black to personally rip his door off any second? starting on that day in chemico he has not really made a single right decision.

    • @rosePetrichor
      @rosePetrichor ปีที่แล้ว +3

      He expected Grey to die a lot more instantly than they did. There was a moment when it seemed like the serum hadn't worked so he started backtracking and begging for his life etc. But yeah after that he should have been a massively wanted criminal for being the only one (so far) who had figured out how to kill these immortal agents. He just went back to settlement 17 though apparently, and it's Robin repairing his house that causes his Penance, not the fact he's a murderer lol. Big plot hole there

    • @venlocity2
      @venlocity2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      @@rosePetrichorwell remember the One Concern was in the area looking into both the less needed maintenance and looking for Elro. After all Black and White only leave Robin's house after saying that "he" has been spotted, meaning Elro.
      Elro was going to die no matter what for his crimes, Robin and Elro's family were punished because Robin was caught fixing things in their house when they went to grab Elro

    I think Elro was a great and loving character, every character has their struggle but Elro's really speaks to me, with the accidental killing of agent grey, to the lose of his family, and finally the confrontation with black to claim vengeance only to fail miserably, Elro still found enough strength to fight just enough to make it home back to Robin.

    • @Phantom17685
      @Phantom17685 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Lol, that's ironic.
      First: He MURDERED Grey. That was no accident. He knew the syringe was deadly for him.
      Second: He failed to avenge his family because of his idiocity.
      Third: He was ready to let all of humanity die because he didn't care a bit about saving anyone and even lied to stop the rocket launch. All he cared about was himself.

    I love this game but the story and characters feel conflicting. Besides the gut punch that the godlike entity that people worship and are the reason bad things were happening to begin with turns out to just be some alien using the entire planet as its personal gas station wasn't enough.
    Elro is definitely a character thats kind of hard to like. Everything that happened to him was sort of justified, hes nothing but a bitter and selfish person, so much so it puts the only things he does care about, his family, in harms way. He killed Agent Grey out of pure malice and is the reason the game even happens. If he didn't kill Grey, the other agents wouldn't have came for him, wouldn't have found out about Robin being a mechanic, would have gotten his wife and child killed. Imo out of any of the characters here, Mina and Robin are probably the most likeable. Royal is an idiot and Elro is an impulsive jerk.

    • @rosePetrichor
      @rosePetrichor ปีที่แล้ว +1

      the gut punch that the godlike entity was just a random birdman was the one part of the story i felt WASN'T conflicting lol. The game is called 'iconoclasts', people who destroy religious imagery, and the One Concern's religion is a very obvious 'control the masses through faith' thing from minute 1. What doesn't fit is every other part of the story and characters. There's this 'cycle of revenge' thing thrown in there with Black and Elro that doesn't really work, the 'helping people at all costs is sometimes wrong, some problems are too big' thing they had going on with Robin and others is undermined entirely by the fact that Robin just kicks the Starworm's ass.

    I don’t like this character, most of his actions are only in the name of protecting his little sister, who we have shown is more than capable of protecting herself, meaning they are unjustified. And the scene with grey and the rocket scene were enough to cement him as one of my most hated video game characters. He just had to be defiant at the last minute and almost doom the world because he didn’t want robin in space.

      Something interesting about Elro is that he projects his own weakness into his sister. He portrays her as frail, but in reality it is he who is frail. heck, anything he says about his sister's weakness is actually his weakness.

    • @chrisossu2070
      @chrisossu2070 6 ปีที่แล้ว +26

      Elro is a really complicated character, one who really drives home the vicious cycle of vengeance.
      Hatred has pretty much been his entire motivator from the very moment he sought revenge on the One Concern for killing his father. This hatred only keeps on mounting because he keeps on angering dangerous people who proceed to take more from him in retribution. Those people are by no means clear of their wrongdoing, but they only target Elro because he threatened or killed their loved ones, some of whom did not deserve their fate. He ultimately becomes the very thing he despises.
