I own the box, and I like the box. That said, the Phobos team has terrible rules. GW had a chance to finally make an Astartes team competitive, and they didn't. I still like the models, and I'm excited about the Blooded and their aggressive play style-which I'm convinced will be fun, if not particularly competitive at the highest levels of play.

This week the box should arrive to my home. Love the kill teams on it (total Chaos fan). It's very good that you try to start a standing community in Florida as it is the right way to play this game, meet new people, etc. I'm from a small city in Chile, Valdivia, and we have a very nice community playing every sunday since last months of the past edition. Hope you can grow a healthy KT community and can play often.
I really like the Phobos look and think they fit into this game really well, thematically anyway. I think Primaris AS A WHOLE is a bit of a problem, but that's beside the point. I got inspired to make them White Scars and do some kitbashing with the AoS aetherwings and added a flying bird to my Reiver Sargent and the falconer's glove to my infiltrator Sargent and got some 3rd party bits and have been loving painting them. And I already had the BSF Traitors, and a custom traitor to make 8 for my Night Lords chaos team and havent even gotten around to building the other 3 marines to play legionaires as well. tl;dr I'm loving this box. I agree with the terrain comments, but I do really love the sniper tower limited vantage point piece.
Only box my KT group has passed on because splitting the content was a difficult one, no one wanted marines really.... But love the rant on the guard ideas and easy to use GSC which was a nice point!
I didn't get Moroch because I'm just going to wait and either Ebay the traitor guard, or buy them when they release it separately. Nothing against the Marines or Terrain, just the marines weren't something I really cared about. And with the terrain I don't need more, there's other stuff I'd rather spend my time and money on.
I’m honestly considering selling off the terrain. I just don’t have space for anymore terrain 😂 Yeah you’re right, this box is hard to recommend unless you love everything in here. If you want all of it, it’s sort of a good deal for the terrain especially if you can get it at a 20% discount or something.
Traitor guard would be cool as a template for a loyalist feudal guard team. Just swap "blooded" tokens for "honored" and you're good. Plus, platemail ogryn.

I had just picked up some traitor guard from Blackstone Fortress off EBay a couple weeks before Moroch was announced just because I dug the idea of Chaos guardsmen. Was gonna paint them up and run them as cultists for a compendium chaos marine team. Figured it would make for some cool narrative play. But now there's a whole set of rules? and some kick ass new models? Excellent. Still cant decide if I want the whole box. $225 after tax is a big ask for a team I want, some terrain I guess I might like? and probably my least favorite marine models. Even with some of the cool Phobos mechanics, there's just something missing that makes them a hard sell for me. I think this is a "wait for the separate team specific boxes" moment.
First off, thx for video and good luck with moving stuff, it can be taxing. As for Moroch, I am not getting this box, for two reasons: 1 - I have Phobos team already. Magnetized 6 Reiver bodies (heads/arms/backpacks), got extra heads and hands, so I can build any combination of Infiltrators/Incursors/Reivers/Phobos I need. 2 - I strongly dislike traitor guard team. For me it totally missed the spot - instead of getting cool Cultists with some crazy rituals, we got another guard team. If I want to play it, I am going to use their rules for GSC models (Aberrant as ogryn for start, Biophagus as corpseman, Metamorph as enforcer, Rock-saw Accolyte as butcher..). The only thing I'd have to make, is to give one of my shotgun neophytes a shield.. but then again, it was the same for me with previous box. Kitbashed Legionary CSM, didn't care about eldars.
Magnetizing your models always saves you in the long run! I’m in the opposite boat, Phobos doesn’t really do it for me but the traitor guard team is super cool! Yeah I agree, I think this box is an easy skip. Super easy to bash up each team. Thanks for the comment! I love your GSC conversion idea!

To get one new team + 1 sprue for second is not ok at these prices. If you want both teams it is off course good though. Each team will be available seperatly later so if I only want one team, yes not teh Phobos, I can just wait and buy teh ones I want. That is nice.
I'm proxing many teams from my genestealer cultists - some miners, some guards, abominant/aberant as ogryn hivemind focus instead of gaze of gods, some mutations for mele ones and it will be fine :)
I got the box. LGS does 25% off, so that helps. Why did I get it? Well probably mostly for the traitor guard. But I only own 7 Space Marine models, the six assault intersessors from the recruit starter and one ancient model that came with a White Dwarf decades ago. So they needed pals to field a team for the company softball league.
Dab boy ha. Been waiting for reiver rules and phobos but totally agree on buying it for the units. Had a tournament spec ops play without this rule upgrade and its been okay (75% win rate) but for sure these Tac ploys are going to help more against like orks. Agree 1000% on the kitbashing. Awesome
The teams are nice, but the terrain is what sold me on it. This terrain may not be ideal but, besides the hab bunker, it's nothing like anything else I own.

Getting the box from my FLGS. Want the terrain for 40K. Comparing the prices for the terrain sold separately its like getting the Phobos and Traitor Guard for free. Alternately, the bundle deal makes the cost of the terrain less ridiculous.
Good luck with the move. We switched houses in November, so I feel your pain about putting hobby on back burner. Decided to skip this box since terrain does nothing for me and I can kit bash both teams. Just trying to decide if it's worth getting a physical copy of the rule book off of Ebay.

Laziest box launch from GW to end year 1 of KT21 unfortunately. Would've been nice for them to wrap up the road map with a bang considering how great VG vs Kommandos was to kick it all off. Phobos just didn't get enough to really elevate a marine team, and Blooded looks cool but in the end they're STILL mostly recycled models.
Yeah I agree with you, this box is easily the most skipable box so far. It’s really hard to recommend it unless you really want everything including the terrain. Phobos are so boring it’s honestly frustrating, but I’m really digging the traitor guard side. Don’t think they’ll play spectacularly, but I’m looking forward to getting them on the table.
I agree that these teams are very easy to proxy or kitbash. The terrain was honestly the biggest draw for me. It’s a new set & while some of it may not be optimal for KT (looking at you landing pad) I’ve got enough of the Ryza pattern ruins to make a nice, dense killzone. They should’ve included a set of tokens for the blooded team - not everyone used to play M:tG, so they may not have tokens lying around to represent blooded/virtual blooded/gaze of the gods tokens.
When you factor in the terrain, the box is a decent deal especially if your lgs gives a discount. I agree about tokens for sure. Little stuff like that would go a long way

I wanted to build a Phobos Alpha Legion CSM Compendium team, with Traitor Guard kits for my Cultists. after having bought most of what I need through the Blackstone Fortress kits and buying an infiltrators box, I was plugging away when this KT got announced. it's got potential, but I wont be buying it xP
F for hobby separation condolences. With that out of the way, Moroch was a pass for me; my Pile of Shame is large enough to be a dependent on my taxes, and the Phobos and terrain were a turn-off (the terrain looks great when given proper attention, but I don’t want to give that much attention to terrain). The Traitor Guard Blooded team, however, I might grab those guys when they come out separately.
The terrain isn't terrible, but without extra LoS blocking walls and the like, it hits hot garbage levels for me. The price isn't worth it to me for a starter box that doesn't have starter quality starter terrain.
Got some barret wearing heads from Victoria miniatures and some helmet less ones to separate the scions from the guard and some printed cloaks weapons and even Cowboy hats for the Snipers
And I got Moroch, as you see from the Disco I've already built the Traitor Guard. I'm looking forward to getting them in front of an opponent eventually. They look like they'll be a challenge to play.

Phobos armor is what got me to like primaris. Running infiltrators with their 5+ lethal on their bolters is really nice

I think the terrain is great, if you have lots of small little things to fill it up with, I like the idea of large platforms.

The salt is still there, but the Blooded KT are enough to balance it out lol. Absolutely love the models, can’t wait to get some games in with them
