I really appreciate the bit around the 12:00 mark about jigging up head badges for bending the radius! I made a bending jig out of a block of old heart pine and with stock 1-1/4" and 1-1/8" dowels. Will allow me to bend brass plates for head tubes and seat tubes on old steel frames.
If you’re on a budget, go to your local sign/trophy shop. They usually will do that in house on aluminum or brass. Pretty quick turnaround and not super expensive.
Hey, I found your channel at the perfect time. I plan on making a cruiser style bike and I wanted to make it using my oxy acetylene setup. What kind of steel would you reccomend to build the frame out of?
@@cobraframebuilding I've seen your videos and have learned some good techniques, but reading some forums I read that you should not oxy acetylene braze 4130 chromoly because it can cause splintering. Do you have to normalize the steel beforehand?
Check out how old full plate armour was etched with acid I’d guess they mask the etched areas then spray on the protective substance before removing the mask and acid bathing. I don’t think they would use vinyl in the acid as it would melt the vinyl or the glue on the vinyl
Milwaukee bicycle co puts a foamy beer mug on their head tubes and alcoholism is bad but foamy beer mugs look cool. Also I like how you call it a seat stay bridge not a brake bridge.

Hi! Great video, thank you. One question: aside from riveting, screwing or welding, how do you secure the head badge to the frame?
Man i still dont get how, with such complete videos in such quantity, you still have a small af youtube community.
Tell your friends :)

I would recommend 4130 cromoly steel. Look at my video all about bike tubing for more info.
