      @@johnlivigni561 I really loved the iPhone 4 when it first came out as well! First retina screen - which seemed to be milky smooth at the time. I might try a mini in the future if Apple continues to design them in a way to have the longer battery life.

    I’ve commented before about this, but the Mini is my favorite phone since the iPhone 4s. Apple really outdid themselves with this little BEAST of a phone. The size a phone should be and what the standard for phones should be.

      I recently found a 4s on eBay for $34! It’s basically unusable but it’s fun to hold again. What surprised me is just how small it is. I had forgotten just how small it is. I miss it. It makes my 13 Mini look huge! I remember putting a case on it because I was afraid of dropping it. If they made it now, I would put a skin on the back and a screen protector and call it a day. It really was well made.

      Unfortunately, Apple is pulling the plug on the Mini size. Maybe they will use it to become the next SE. I'll keep my 13 Mini till I can’t use it any more. I wish they would use the Mini size but make it like the 4/4s. Imagine a 4/4s the size of the Mini but with new internals and the better glass now available? You really wouldn’t need a case with brushed stainless steel and glass. Apple would struggle to meet demand!

    • @Halo9K

      I'm thinking that my next iPhone will be an Apple Watch. I have the cellular version of the Series 6 and it does a great job as a cell phone. It's the ultimate small go anywhere cell phone. I will, of course, have to keep my current cell phone (13 Mini) but as long as I keep the line the Watch can do it’s job as a communications device. Apple can go as big as they want, but they will do so without me.

    I bought my wife a 13 mini to replace her 6s. I liked it so much I bought one for myself to replace my Samsung S8, which served me well for over four years but no way could the battery last all day (even after it was replaced recently). I think the 13 mini is great, as a HVAC engineer I really don’t need to carry around a plasma screen sized phone. All I need is a phone that makes calls, the battery lasts all day, takes great photos in low light and runs your everyday apps without issues which it does well. Very impressed with the 13 mini.

    Got the 13 mini. Everyone said I should have got the 13 or 13 pro but I am really happy with a phone that doesn't feel like I'm holding a TV screen up to my face. Fits in my pocket, my bag etc. Battery life is as Mark says, absolutely fine. I bought a case because I like to protect it when I leave it on my desk but I definitely didn't need a case and will likely take it off at some point in the future. Camera is great, storage is great, price is liveable. I came from iPhone 8 with only 64GB so this feels like a good upgrade for me.

    • @Halo9K
      @Halo9K 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      As for cases, I always go a little crazy trying to find one I really like. This time, while I have a few, I've settled on a minimal clear TPU case that gives some drop (small drops) and scratch protection without the bulk. The 13 Mini is small enough that dropping it is not a real problem. Also a good screen protector. Despite Apple's claims, the ceramic screen still scratches.I do think the 13 models are tougher than earlier models but it’s not indestructible. One last thing I've done is to put a skin on the back. Th glossy back is a fingerprint magnet. The skin takes care of that problem.

    • @Halo9K
      @Halo9K 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@rehmanali2895 I got the 128GB. Everyone is different in how they use their phones but I had a 256GB Xs and found I never used anything near the capacity. It was a waste. With 128 and all that I have on it, I still have 104GB remaining. I don’t do a lot of apps, just what I need. I also removed a lot of Apple's productivity apps that come standard. Who’s going to use a Mini for productivity??? That’s the beauty of the Mini, it’s really meant to be a phone, first. I have useful apps like banking, credit cards, etc. My Mini is like a digital Swiss Army knife. Useful, not productive. So, check how much space you're currently using and let that be your guide. For me the 128 is just fine.

      @@Halo9K thanks for such a good and detailee response. Im a kind of guy who loves taking photos and videos. But my budget is tight. or else it would be iphone 13pro. I was skeptical whether to buy vivo x70 pro plus (the master camera phone) or the iphone 13 mini, and I found that iphone 13 mini is better. Now for storage, I will see if 128 gb suits my needs.

    • @Halo9K
      @Halo9K 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@rehmanali2895 Here's a thought. The whole idea of a camera on your phone was that it would be the camera readily available when you need it not a replacement for a dedicated camera. I think that idea has been lost. The 13 Mini has the 12 Pro Max (minus the telephoto) camera. So, there’s no question the camera is good. I bought a Canon Powershot 720 which is a 20MP camera with an optical 40x zoom! Add digital and you get 160x zoom! Even the 13 Pro Max can't beat that. That’s the camera you take when you PLAN a trip. I bought the 13 Mini on purpose to use as a phone… mainly because it’s small enough to fit in my jeans front pocket with a MagSafe wallet! It depends on the job you want the phone to do. Some want a phablet, I just wanted a small phone. As for storage, that will depend on your needs. My experience has shown that 256GB is just overkill for me. The Cloud helps keep storage needs low for me. Hope this helps.

    I am moving to iOS after four years of Android. Mini wasn't even on my radar, was pretty sure I was going for Pro and then I came across your channel. Now, holding 13 mini as we speak, it did take me some time coming off of a 6.3 inch screen but now really happy about it. Further, most Tech TH-camrs are cisgender men who are favouring the massive Pro Max. Me too! In fact, once the Mini is no longer functioning, my future iPhones will be an Apple cellular Watch. It’s small and convenient, functional and no worries dropping it. I have the Series 6 cellular and 7 GPS. From what I'm hearing the iPhone may be on its way out. That may be a few years from now but that makes sense. They have innovated the thing to death and that may be true for the Apple Watch as well but they could keep on producing it for those who want/need a cellular device.

    Great video as always Mark, happy to hear another converted mini-iphone user enjoying what it is a great product. I got a 12 mini last year and a 13 this year and gifted the 12 to my mum and we both love the little gadgets. I treat my phones with very little care (shame on me) and this one is simply unbeatable when it comes to drops, scuffs, corner tables and is best friends with house keys in my pocket. In regards to screen size, I think people don't realise that eyes focus area is 2 inches at a time so you will never focus on the entire screen no matter how big it is, which makes the size irrelevant. Honest, I have no problems with the screen size and I had many over 6-inch iPhones before. Never going back, I hope they keep making the mini

      You won’t regret it. All the glowing reviews are spot on. Whatever shortcomings the 12 Mini had, the 13 has fixed them in spades! If you want even longer battery life then turn on Low Power mode after taking it off the charger. Yes, it will turn off some background operations BUT what you gain in battery life is worth it and I haven’t missed whatever gets turned off! IF, you do need a turned off function then simply turn off Low Power mode until you're done then turn it back on. What you'll gain in battery life will be worth it. I typically wind up with 60-70% life left at 1AM! I'll admit I'm not a person who lives on his phone every waking moment but I do use it throughout the day. The 13 Mini is indeed a little beastie that has legs depending on how you use it. I use it as a phone with added functions. I don’t use it as a game machine, that’s what my XBOX Series S and iPad Mini 6 are for!

Even with the clear spigen case the phone is easy to hold. Mag safe wallet- Otterbox is a brilliant combination. Very impressed, easily get a full day use out the phone. Thank you for your great review. Looking for your I pad reviews, as this is next purchase to be made.

    Quite the point I made just before watching this video, on some other video, about keeping battery saver mode ON, all the time; I've been doing it for almost 8 years with every smartphone I've had and it had worked perfectly fine. People are making comments about poor battery life on smaller phones but probably without considering the fact that it can be improved with power mode or battery saver mode. My SE 1st generation is in 6th year of usage and battery health is about 78%, which is pretty good I think. And there's not much to lose if you're on power mode, just a few background refresh utilities, which is not something horrible! So Mark, thanks very much for talking about battery life and advocating power mode. I'm looking forward to Mini, just a matter of time 😊

      I also have OG SE. Just put a new battery in for $49. I had the 13 mini n returned it. Nothing wrong with it, just prefer the OG SE form, nothing compares to its ease of use, imo. I’ll use it for another year. If no 14 mini then I’ll get the 13 mini bc SE won’t be updated after this year.

    As someone who recently upgraded from an SE (1st generation) to an iPhone 13 Mini... Is it just me or have they drastically lowered the vibration/used a different motor or something? My SE would actually notify me via the vibration, now the new iPhones sound more like a hum than a notification mechanic!

    I’ve wanted a mini since they released the 12 mini last year, but ultimately held off because of battery concerns. I preordered the 13 mini as soon as it was announced, and if the rumors are true about this phone being the last mini iPhone apple makes, then I’ll just have to keep this thing until it dies. It may be my favorite iPhone they’ve ever made.

      The 13 Mini has great battery life. Especially if you turn on Low Power mode. I typically have 60-70% life left when I put it on the charger at night. Whatever shortcomings the 12 Mini had, they have been solved in the 13!

    Thank you very much for your video. As always: rich in perspective and convincing. To answer your question: Yes, your reviews have confirmed my decision to buy! In fact, I came to the decision to buy a Mini for very similar reasons. The delivery hasn't arrived yet, the anticipation is great, but I can't deny a certain uncertainty. And now you come into play. Since I know very well how critical you can be about Apple products, the emotional declarations of love for the iPhone 13 Mini have more than convinced me. Thank you very much! The handiness of this phone, which comes without any technical sacrifices, is a real winner. I can only join you in praying that Apple sticks with this product line against earlier announcements.

    Ok, that's because I already own and love my own white one (256GB version) - marvelous in size and relatively decent in battery, the best part is that, feature-wise, I don't feel like it is a compromise, it's a rather complete version. So... there you have it, I was ALREADY convinced :-D

    Recently traded in my 13 Pro Max. I’m practicing being a minimalist and the 13 mini w/Apple wallet has been a great experience. I have until the 14th to exchange or just keep but this has been a cool refreshing experience and I agree about the apple wallet. I jumped on that last month but love how it fits on the mini 👍.
    Hope you still have yours. Apple did good. The camera features (cinematic)being the same with all the 13’s also helped. Battery life has been the same experience, meaning I’m not worried by mid day.

    Bit the bullet and went for a 13 mini after dropping my pixel 6 and smashing the screen - that phone is a beast and is relatively heavy - not sure if the camera arrangement is to blame but there seems to a some weird weight distribution going on. It’s the only phone I have had that seems to be able to slip off a flat surface. I watched a tonne of videos on the 13 mini but yours were the deciding ones for me and I haven’t looked back since my new phone arrived - it’s amazing to be able to have a phone that easily fits into a pocket (even a chest pocket on a shirt) can be operated one handed whilst walking the dog and still has a big enough screen to watch the occasional video whilst commuting. It’s changed the way I have used my phone - reverting back to using it as a music/podcast device rather than something I use to scrawl through endless videos whilst slowly rotting my brain and killing my attention span. It’s also the perfect sized phone for a night out and when the summer comes round I have no fear of unsightly pocket bulges in a pair of shorts. It’s exactly what a phone should be rather than the Phablets that are pushed upon to increase our screen time on sticky social media apps ….. I have kept my pixel 6 and will get the screen fixed - I will probably end up using it at home in the phablet role or revert back to it if I am going anywhere and taking pictures. I am still a fan of the pixels photographic chops! A bit more long winded than I anticipated - in short - great phone and slightly disappointed it may be the last mini for the foreseeable future.

    Dude! I wanted the 13 mini and your original video pushed me over the edge. I’m soooo happy with it. I haven’t been this excited about an iPhone in years! I got the starlight ( ok it’s white ), I put an Armour body suit in clear so it doesn’t scratch because I refuse to put a case. Besides I have a Magbak wallet on the back that serves as protection. This and my iPad mini 6 is all I need! Thanks for the videos. Oh and yes the pictures are great! Hahahaha I wrote this while watching so I just now got to the part where you mention the MagSafe wallet. I need more than three cards hence why Magbak is perfect for me.

    I've always had Android (currently Pixel 4a with a cracked screen). But all of my family and most of my friends are iPhone, so I've contemplated a change for awhile. I too was bored with the iPhone range to the extent that I came within a whisker of buying a Pixel 6. Then I saw a couple of youtube videos extolling the virtues of the iPhone 13 Mini and decided to give it a go. What a great little phone! I agree entirely with all your comments about it, including the battery life which is actually better than on the iPhone 11 I had before. To have such a high powered phone in such a small package is great and seems to be unique in the smartphone world. I wouldn't use mine without a case though as I am forever drooping phones, usually onto concrete surfaces. Also use a glass screen protector as some reviewers have commented that the screen scratches quite easily. I just wish Apple would go over to USB-C connection and do something about the notch.

    Another solid iPhone mini review Mark, thank you. I’ve had this phone for around two months and what I really like is how discreet it is. You can slip it in your trouser pocket without worrying that it’s going to drop out or create an unsightly bulge haha, I can take use it on a packed subway with one hand and not advertise to the world what kind of phone I have and lastly I feel that I use it more as a tool for calls, emails and messages, rather than a multimedia device for videos, gaming and so on, thus I’m not staring at it all day and I balance use of other devices for streaming and so on. The most practical phone of 2021 in my humble opinion.

    I did but unlike you I decided to get a clear case which fits quite well and doesn't take anything away from the aesthetics of the phone. One of the major issues I had with the size of the 8 Plus was the fact that it didn't easily fit in a pants pocket. This is no longer an issue with the mini and the viewable screen size is just a bit smaller than the 8 Plus so I don't feel like I've really lost anything.

    I bought the 12 mini last year. I was so excited that they finally release a small phone, however, I was a bit disappointed that the "mini" wasn't really that small in my book, it compares more to my old iPhone 6 than to the 5 or 1st gen SE, but it's still the smallest smartphone on the market. And now it pisses me off that they are going to ditch that form factor completely and we'll get another "max" instead 😔.

    Great review of the iPhone 13 Mini. You have convinced me that I have made a mistake with the iPhone 13 Pro Max. Having moved from the iPhone 8 Plus to the new format of iPhone, I was expecting some magic with the iPhone 13 Pro Max but instead all I have is a bunch of "blahs". Yes the battery life is great, the screen is gorgeous, and the cameras are amazing.... BUT, this thing is outrageously heavy when compared to the 8 Plus. The design is excessively chunky with the squared off edges and the overall experience of the device just does not provide the "warm fuzzy" that you expect from a new Apple device (at least the 13 Pro Max did not give me the "cold pricklies" like some other Android hardware many many moons ago). In all, this phone is great and a disappointment all wrapped up in one. For each item that is great their is another item which is a large detractor.
    In all, Apple has a "design miss" with this mobile device. Perhaps it is the use of stainless steel instead of aluminum (aliminium for those across the pond) which has made this device heavy. The notch is still awkward even if it is smaller. iOS 15 also has annoyances which compound my issues with the phone with notifications that block functions in some of the apps (also a problem on iPad OS 15 as well). In all, I don't regret purchasing this phone, but it is the first time that I am not excited to use a newly purchased Apple product. It is hard to believe that an iPhone is now simply a tool for the masses and not an item that is the domain of a handful of tech nerds because of it wonderful function and exquisite form.
    The iPhone13 Mini may have been a better choice. Even with my old eyes which did not get any significantly bigger text for all of the extra heft in this device.
    Signed...
    Disappointed in the USA.

      I’m pretty sure the only difference between the design of this year and rumored design for next year are you’ll potentially see the return of the dual color design (the metal sides are one color and the back is another) and the flush back cameras. What you will likely NOT see is this normal mini size. You’ll only get the standard and Max.
