- Impressive. Not only was the song killer, also was the video so perfectly in harmony with the song. Agressive and intense arrangement, awesome voice and it was tired together in a video that kicked butt.
I'm pretty impressive with myself for not having been familiar with this song before, however, better late than ever... 😂❤️

@@sabina1118 Personally, I could recommend Chop Suey too, but I prefer "B.Y.O.B.". In my opinnion, this and "Toxicity" are the greatest masterpieces by System of a down.

That last riff is such a tease. They could play that for another 4 minutes, and I'd be perfectly happy to sit and listen. Also, it's like a kind of take on a children's song, or nursery rhyme or something like that. Can't quite put my finger on it.

Toxicity is actually from 2001. They released this album 7 days before the 9/11 attacks. BYOB is one of my favorites from their early sound. They use their talent and wit to make fun music that sometimes has a lesson or message mixed in there.
Cool! My favourite band back in the days! The whole album is solid gold
By watching the music video, you get the whole picture of how the band wants to present the song.

If u are more of a fan of melodic metal try: Chop Suey, Byob, Lonely day,
But if u want something crazy af: Needles, Prison Song, Suite Pee, Mind, Chic n stu, War?
(These songs are heavy af and dont have music vidoes) honestly their 1st two albums (Self titled, toxicity) has the most of the heaviest songs in their discography specially the 1st one, and the last 3 has the most melodic songs, still heavy in some parts but mostly are softer
SOAD have such a unique style, even song to song you can find so much variation

Great reaction as always, Sabina! For a next System of a Down song, I'd suggest "Chop Suey." It also has a really cool video, deep lyrics, and lots of energy. Another good one is "B.Y.O.B" which has a hook that always reminds me of a pop song more than a melodic metal one. Whatever you choose, it's hard to go wrong with SOAD. They're unique, individually talented, and always interesting.
This band has a uniqueness of a kind which I cannot really describe. Its almost like they have taken heavy rock/metal in another direction with sound and deep meaningful lyrics with serious relevance to past and present times. They are just awesome and this band stand alone .
wow people should do exactly what you did here and maybe u do it on every video- but bravo to you for letting it play thru and putting your thoughts under it in writing- so simple yet super effective

Many years ago I bumped into Serj in a delicatessen in Oslo. I was there to pick up some quick grab. A minute or two later he and two other fella walked in. I couldn't believe it was him because they were so unassuming. Just to make sure I asked him if he was in a band. He replied, "yes, we are playing tonight. Are you coming?". Such a down to earth and friendly guy.

I think System of a Down didn’t enthrall me at first because I couldn’t get over how Perfect his vocals and timing were in EVERY song I heard. Like a disorder! I was more interested in loud punk rock at the time. I think I was trying to act all cool LA indie kid at the time and lacked appreciation on many fronts for not assessing the fully thought out message coming from some bands. I loved rocking out to this song every time I heard it, don’t get me wrong, it just wasn’t clear to me how profound their message was as a young teen.
It was actually released 20 years ago.

System of a Down switched me from growing up with friends and listening to rap, to growing up by myself and exploring all genres of metal, rock, punk, etc. etc. The song that transitioned me to a better life was Aerials, when it was shown on Polish MTV back when I was growing up in Gdynia city. A few years before I moved to the US. It is still my to go band whenever I want to relax, or just fuck around and spaz out :3
When I say I relate to this post on a different plane I mean it. Growing up around rap, hip hop and R&B. Met a friend in school that introduced me to tool and System of a Down and it changed who I am today. The music is like a vehicle that helps to discover yourself more and more and create that unique personality you want for yourself

So this song actually came out in 2001, years before TH-cam existed, but the video wasn't posted until 2009. I've seen a lot of reactions make this mistake with music/bands older than TH-cam. Since it's been such a massive force in media and society, people forget that TH-cam hasn't actually been around forever, it started in 2005. Google bought it in late 2006, which is when it got the resources to eventually become the monster it is today. So there's decades of old music that didn't see the internet until years after it came out.
One interesting phenomenon related to this cloud hosting of content is how the Beastie Boys used to host a cappella mixes of a number of their songs on their official website, so people could remix them as they saw fit, back during the Napster era. That ended long before TH-cam happened, so now those remixes are sitting on old hard drives on peoples' shelves, never to be heard again, while if they did that today, TH-cam would have those mixes all over the place.
If you want to see Serj show off his vocal range even more I would recommend Ariels

p.s A little advice- the font you are using with the big spaces between letters- the spacing is so wide- almost as wide as between words, that its actually a bit hard to read- at a glance it just looks like a wall of letters, and you have to focus more on it than you should to read it. Can you reduce the spacing between letters some?
