fan is behind motherboard and case bottom, so, you probably will be able to remove some dust even without taking it apart, but if there will be a lot, than pretty much whole needed. Just you do not have to take LCD out.
Hello, to change CMOS you will need to remove motherboard. It will be probably a yellow round battery (at least on this laptop in that video) Just unplug, that's it.
Nice Work! I have to change my cmos battery too. I have find troubles trying to get into hotmail. Maybe you too. I would like to know if i need to take it all apart. Thanks a lots!
Great! I have a question, I have an old laptop (hp pavilion dv3500), they told me I had an inventec 1505 motherboard, I would like to know what processors are compatible, and if you can change the video card too. it says it has an nvidia 9300m gs. Could I change it to increase it?
Open a memory door and search for 6 digits- 3 digits number. Something like xxxxxx-xxx. With that number you can verify what exact specs you have and how you can increase it. Gpu most likely can't. Cpu, memory HDD to ssd
As it turns out, it's now about 5 years old, and knock wood, still working. Apart from the inconvenience of having to take it in and leave it for a couple of weeks at a time, it's be worth it for me. Don't know about HP. I would guess it was a net loss for them.
only problem i have and which led me here, is i have the same exact laptop as yours, different color tho, but the same, and my problem is, it overheats and i dont know what to do, im worried to take it apart and dust off some of the dirt but i might not be able to put them back together lol, so any solution or suggestions on how to reduce this overheating problem ? thanks.
+nior712 first simple idea, look, your laptop made so far without huge breakups till 2016 is already great! What is like 10 years? Anyway rule number one, when removing screws, remember where are they coming from. It is easy to do with a A4 paper and keeping them in the same order as on the laptop. (Like a map) Don't panic everything that is made by human you can do too. When you will work with motherboard be extra cautious and touch motherboard by side and not resistors and connectors. If you notice that you getting an electro static shocks all the time - use some different clothes. When you will take a fan out, you can even take apart a fan and see how much dirt will be there. Laptop is old and there can be some plastics broken or cracked, don't be surprised. Otherwise if something bad happened and it is not working after all, well, it is time to get a new laptop. Back up data first ;) Good luck!
hello i have the same exact laptop but it has lot of problems so my main problem is the GPU i wanna a new one so i wanna ask is it possible to change the GPU of this laptop to a better one ??!
I've got the exact same model. Mobo went out on me twice. Thank god for the 3 year warranty. Poor QC, Good warranty policy. I guess it evens out. HP lost money on that sale I assume.
+Barry Scott Will Just did it without the advised total tear apart. The connector is visible on the bottom next to the wifi card. Carefully yanked the old one out and just layed the new one into place. $7 2016 2 pin jst. Honestly you could prob just leave the old one in there as it is totally insulated.

Do i need to do this if i want to change just the thermal paste and clean the fan ? ._.
I hope your laptop will work even longer.
