They act like little boys on tge playground. Hunger cancels our fights. Oh my gosh that is awful your bottom must be really sore. Hate that you got hurt. Arnie looks super relaxed. I was shocked. But my first thought was that my camera was going to be broken 🤣🤣 Then, I had to figure out who did it because he got me totally off guard! Goes to show ya!🙂
It's that time of year for the rams! Always have to watch them. Glad you weren't seriously injured. It looks like the tabby kitten is a male. One less to spay.
The kittens are getting braver. I think some could actually be tamed. A friend tamed 2 feral adults with lots of patience and kindness similar to what you guys are doing. 🐈 Hope you’re feeling better since Kelvin’s aggression, Lynn. Ouch! 🙁 I was surprised Knockout was temperamental with Arnie. He seemed like such a friendly ram. Maybe it was an off day for him. 🐑
Knockout is one we have to watch. He is friendly but can get over friendly. You have to remember that when rams play together, they hit each other. Their idea of play is different from our idea of play.🙂
Glad to see one of the Kitten's warming up to you guy's so cute...!!! Adorable babies 😍💝🥰 The Texel cross following you guys love him!!! Kalvin, Has always been a personality I remember him trying to escape the gate with Ferdinan that one day and you had to push him away from getting out because he thought it would be funny to escape the ram pen
Aww thank you Lynn & Arnie, I’m glad you’re doing okay lynn after the naughty ram hit you , before I didn’t know much about rams & thought what a shame when people got rid of them until I spoke to a farmer who was nearly killed by a ram & he said he was his best ram but as soon as he done that he got rid of him even though he was his best ram for years & had no problems with him until the day he went to feed him & he done that , so I don’t blame you for not keeping a bad ram farming is hard enough without getting hurt 😊
Yes, even the best of them can misbehave. In general, ours are well-behaved but that doesn't mean we don't watch our backs...except this time of course!😆
The kittens are getting so brave. Some rams are dangerous. They are unpredictable. I got hit twice. Once as a kids and the other times as an adult. Neither time did I get badly hurt. Lynn, glad you didn’t either. Be safe❤️
He totally took me by surprise. I think my pride was hurt more than anything else but it could have been worse. I don't think he was "attacking " me. I think he was trying to get my attention, but rams interact differently than us humans do!🙂

I only have one buck. But I refuse to go in his pen when I am by myself. Not that I think he's bad, but because if I'm alone and he decides to hurt me there is not one to help. One of my does came into heat and I so wanted to put her with him. But because my husband was gone out of town for 4 days, I didn't. I could put her in easily enough, but taking her out could have been an issue. So we wait for her to come in again so she can go with him. Just not a risk I'm willing to take. So glad you are ok . Arnie's ending....hahahaha.
Appreciate all of your experience, lessons learned and willingness in sharing with all of us. Wondering if flipping a ram with an attitude on his bum (as you do when trimming hooves/shearing)when he gets pushy or aggressive has been helpful?
It can help. They have to learn respect - which should be mutual. But when push comes to shove, quite literally, they need to know you are King! So anything that establishes that in their mind will help, such as flipping them on their bum 🙂

I hope you are okay and healed from Kalvin and his not gentle head butt. It must have been so scary. So while attending Ewetopia University. Is the reason you initially keep a sheep like Kalvin because, he is a very well growing/thriving triplet? That he did better than maybe his siblings and even better than a lot of other lambs. That hawk was so beautiful.
So there must be six kittens? I saw five yesterday, excluding the grey one. My male cat became sick from purina dry food (urinary tract) -it helps if you moisten the food. And oh no! So sorry you got hit by Kalvin! I’m glad you’re “ok”…but yes, that’s not worth the risk! You’d need to wear a helmet when dealing with rams like that just to survive the day!

Yes, especially during breeding season and cool weather, you should have a backup around. Usually Arnie us with me but that day I was on my own

We kept Kalvin for those reasons plus he has great conformation and was friendly.
