    I tried that "take a breath" idea and my phrasing was instantly better. These two guitarists have been in my top 5 list for decades. I discovered the Dixie Dregs in high school, early 80s, and, well, Luke is Luke. He's played on everything. I'm 57 and I'm looking at two of my all-time heroes here. Amazing.

    • @rayfabris2512

      Same here I'm 57 and awhile back someone said let the note breathe and then add reverb a little delay its helps when what you play sounds cool out of the speakers

    • @garygallion8405

      The Dregs go back to the early/mid 70's and Steve was already becoming a virtuoso guitar player way back then.

    • @onehotrocker99
      @onehotrocker99 4 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Yes, Morse is an amazing, creative guy on the guitar and he just blew away Luke with his melodic phrasing that night. So much so that Luke would stop playing and look over at Morse to see what he was doing on the fretboard! Morse's tone sounded so much better than Luke's because Morse had passive pickups going through an Engl amp that just made Luke's EMG loaded guitar and Marshall amp sound like he wasn't in the same league as Morse. And I'm more of a Luke fan than a Morse fan! Go figure! But I gotta call it like I saw it. This video was recorded at the GC in Hollywood in 2009.

    • @Neuroguitarist
      @Neuroguitarist 4 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Luke’s sounding so much better with the 25th anniversary guitar with passive pickups than with his own signature guitar with EMG pickups.
      Nowadays his sound Has so much improved with the Luke 3-guitar and Bogner Amps. From „worst“ to best imho.

Truly amazing what this man can do. He played the whole night smiling at the crowd, not looking at his hands and ripping off incredible licks. After the show I felt like going home and selling all my gear. 😎🤘

    • @4GuitarTrance
      @4GuitarTrance 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@dannymcmince There is plenty of proof... he shows himself clearly if people truly want to see that proof. One thing I've learned about people through the years... they have an uncanny ability to see truth, look truth and fact straight in the face, but completely ignore it if it makes them "feel" uncomfortable in some form or another. As time goes on, more and more people think with their "feelings" instead of their brains and instincts and what they know to be true or what they strongly sense to be true.
      "There are two things in life that are infinite: the universe, and human stupidity. And I'm not exactly sure of the former!" -- Albert Einstein
      "Oh man, I don't like that because it doesn't make me "feel" good... therefore I will try my best to make myself "feel" better about it by make-believing it doesn't exists. It's the reason controlling, power-hungry politicians are able to fool people into voting for them and their government programs at working taxpayer's expense -- by promising to "take care of them" -- and the reason for most of the world's problems and tragedies... many of which could have been prevented if people had not stuck their heads in holes because the truth didn't "feel" good to them.
      God is real, my friend. I didn't believe at one time. I found out, thankfully, just how real and caring he truly is.
      You really want to know how real God is... I mean REALLY know? Get by yourself some time, without any chance of being interrupted, and seriously ask God to reveal to you if he is real. Even if you do not believe. Just tell him you don't really believe -- or rather tell him you've tried to convince yourself he doesn't exist ;-) -- you can even ask him to humor your unbelief. But ask sincerely to give you some kind of undeniable sign of his existence... and if your "curiosity" is sincere he will definitely let you know just how real he truly is. If you REALLY want to know if he's real or not, try it. If you wish to walk around guided by your "feelings" the rest of your life however, you can do that too. God is a gentleman, so-to-speak... he will never infringe on the free will and free choice he gave each of us when he created the known universe... you and I included.
      I know... it all sounds so unreal and extreme to think some all-powerful, "supreme being" created everything we know in our existence. Even the media have done all in their power to make people think a belief in God is silly and some nonsensical crutch some use to make themselves feel better because they supposedly cannot handle life on their own. But you asked of "Proof in God". I'm letting you know there is proof beyond your wildest dreams and imagination IF you truly want to know the answer to that age old question.
      Ask, and if you're sincere, the answer will be given you. Knock, and that door of truth will be opened for you. Make sure you really wish to know however... once you're convinced of the truth you are forever responsible for how you deal with that reality... there will be no more excuses for your rejection of your creator and the Father of all creation should you choose to ignore his proof of existence to you.

Luke has even said I’m interviews he doesn’t shredd well and his running and gunning days are over . He has emphasized Being a creative Rhythm player and becoming great at that first and foremost is the most important part as a player . Luke has lots of studio work where he doesn’t solo . @@mariomessina1147 I've seen Toto NUMEROUS times in concert. And watching his concerts on youtube that were filmed as late as this past January 2019. Regardless of what he says in his interviews, he still shreds endlessly WHEN GUITAR SOLOS ARE CUED FOR THE APPROPRIATE SONG. Go to youtube and check out Toto's latest concert posted January 1st, 2019. Shredding is what he's known for and for him NOT to shred would disappoint his fans. Also take a look at other youtube postings where he's just jamming for a studio practice session. He shreds again.

      Guy Meza if that’s all he is then why would he be Ringo’s guitarist for the last decade ? He plays to the song - adding some notes live on certain songs isn’t shocking in songs like Rosanna , girl goodbye , white sister , hold the line etc . All those songs had some longer solos in them but he is way more tasteful then a true shredder . Neil Schon is way more of a shredder then Steve Lukather and he more tasteful then true shredders . Luke is a versatile guitarist it’s ok u don’t agree we all have opinions . By your opinion anyone that solos fast is a shredder , so Luke’s friend Michael landau must be considered a shredder right ? What about Eric Johnson ?

    Really? Really?......i mean, really?.....people always equate Michael Jackson's Beat It with EVH(RIP GOAT) and as amazing and perfect as that solo is, a lot of people don't know that everything else was written by Steve Lukather......genius.....oh yeah, that Steve Morse guy is pretty good, too....um, HE'S FUCKING AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!
