As a Raps fan from Toronto I can tell you without a doubt Pascal is gonna be a great player in Indy. Pascal can score 20 in his sleep. He’s 6’9 and can bring the ball up the floor, and is a matchup nightmare. He can literally guard all 5 positions and play all 5 if need be. He’s really good at backing guys up who are smaller and getting easy buckets.
I completely agree and like Pascal, but he wasn't really doing those things to that level to help them win games.

I would not be surprised if all his numbers go up, playing with a better team along with Halliburton.

I was gonna remain silent but the disrespect for Siakam is insane. Without a doubt the most consistent guy outside of Kawhi on that team. Especially in that Sixers series where only Kawhi and he could generate significant offense consistently. His defense was great as well, what are we talking about?

There’s an argument for 2nd best on the team that year, just so many guys playing their role great. Heck even Vanfleet went crazy in that run

Heck in 2011 and 12 they were so close to making the finals because of the team they built around by drafting almost everyone. Siakam averaged 19.8 pts, 7.5 boards and 3.7 assists in that 2019 final. He was definitely the second best player in that final for the Raps. A great couple games doesn’t change that from Lowry.

Kyle also had 1.7 steals in the finals.
Peak Kyle Lowry was always among the leaders in plus/minus and advanced stats, counting stats were never his strength.
Those teams with him and DeMar were really good for a really long time, and I thought Kyle was actually the better player. Pascal's never had that kind of success as the star player.

The Pacers are 11-4 against the top 3 teams in the east. They have the best record in the league against those teams. They're 12-3, have the have the #10 defense in the league over the last 15, and the #1 offense in history for the season. When is this "they have to steal a game" narrative gonna stop.

It's been almost 5 years. Was Kwahi better off staying in Toronto where he could actually contend or not? Ofcourse "load management" would've been a factor, but that was still a solid team with him being out. Being completely gone though meant there was no hope.

Versus the 76ers last night and the Pacers finally gelling, we got our first look at the Turner/Siakam matchup nightmare. The Sixers didn't know what to do with them. Embid couldn't guard Siakam and Turner was open 90% of the night. When Haliburton comes back you have a 6'7" point guard, a 6'8" power forward, and a 6'11" center that can all easily and consistently score 20 points each a night. That is hard to beat when you add in the depth of Indiana's bench.
In a few years when you look at the upcoming draft selection order, every 1st round listing will have a 'from this team' listed after the actual team as none of them will own their own 1st round picks.
All these teams get trades so easily but when the Knicks want a player they want us to trade half our team and all our draft picks

I would say on the 2019 team he was tied as the 2nd best player with Kyle Lowry. Kawhi was the best player obviously.
This is an underrated trade ngl. Siakam might not be a good leader of a team but definitely a great second option. Hali carried the pacers to a 4th seed last season before he was injured. And adding siakam just energised the depth. People forget how good he was being a second option in the championship run with kawhi being the leader. And pacers just got to the ist finals last month. Finals contender imo

Last season, before Hali got hurt. We moved into 4th for a hot minute. Hali went down, and so did the Pacers. We've been beating top teams without him this year, though. When he's 100% and gets comfortable playing with Siakam, watch out! Super deep bench and great chemistry too. Don't sleep on the Pacers.

Raps fan as well. I absolutely understand if people aren't completely familiar with Pascal's game cause of where he plays, but he's going to be such a great fit in Indiana. There will be challenges in re-signing him only for the fact that Pascal's never had this opportunity too (& considering his age, the next time he gets this choice would be at the end of this career)
The Raptors & Knicks did a fantastic job in a balanced trade. But these kinds of deals between the Raps & Pacers, you don't really know how it'll work out. But for the Raptors, they needed the picks. Even late-round, they've been treading water since Kawhi left and that doesn't work in the NBA - who wants to be a perennial 'play-in' candidate? No, after losing FVV for nothing, they had to do this.
The only caution I would say is that the Pacers will be so much better and absolutely be better for this. But I think their ceiling is at most, the 4th seed in the conference. Pascal is an all-star, but he's not THE all-star that takes you to the upper levels (Guys like Jokic are the rarity in the NBA) And you only win with guys like that. So if you sign him at 30 to a long, 200+ million dollar deal, the Pacers can't be done dealing yet. Your window is now and those other younger guys should be on the block, for now.

Siakam is a very good fit for the Pacers. Raptors play on the slower side of things, and we all know Siakam is a run & gun type of player. He'd have a premier PG in Haliburton to feed him open looks, and he won't have to play small-ball center with Turner and Jalen Smith in Indiana.
Does this make them contenders? No. He doesn't necessarily solve all their problems defensively. But it does make them a whole lot better as a whole, especially on offense.
Haliburton's trajectory to becoming the GOAT PG in the league just became closer to reality

Raptors don't play slow lol. They're great at generating turnovers and running the floor. They lack perimeter shooting.

'Pace' is the better measure for how fast a team plays, since it highlights the number of possessions a team gets per 48 minutes. That's indicative of how fast you shoot in the shotclock, how many offensive rebounds you get per possession, how little/plenty freethrows you take/make versus your entire score, and fastbreak shot attempts (including fastbreak points).
Raptors are 15th in pace.
