I owned a 2003 E39 530ia for five years. I bought the car used in 2015 with low mileage. It was great to me. Seeing this car made me tear up. I never knew how satisfying a car would look after it’s gone. I always detailed the rims last because of blowback from the brake dust. It made it easier to clean up after the car was washed.
Say what you will about BMWs but the E39 design has aged so well. I still do a double take when I see one out and about, regardless of its condition. Great video, guys!
Fun fact about the E39 - its successor the E60 was a highly controversial design. So much so, that when it came to redesigning the E60 for the 2010 model year, BMW designers actually looked back to the third generation E39 for design inspiration for the fifth generation 5-series. The (2010 - 2016) F11 is considered by many to be a somewhat more faithful continuation of the popular E39's design.
@@houseofno also, the F90 and G30 generation of 5 series are also influenced from the E39, which again still proven to be the prime canvas in 5 series design traits, until G60 generation that for some reason goes back to the E60 silhouettes

You did a great cleaning! This gave the old BMW another update to exist another 10 years In my opinion it's better to start from : 1) cleaning inside of the car 2) cleaning the engine 3) cleaning the trunk 4) cleaning outside 5) cleaning the wheels
I have a 2003 BMW 530i - M- Sport, I take care of it beautifully, I do have a great detail guy here in Brooklyn - but I've never seen such a thorough make over ever - congratulations, I wish you were closer so you could also do some work to my interior - thanks a million and keep up the good work! I wish I knew how to share a photo of my car so I could show it to you, but I don't thanks again!
When I worked for Zebart (for a summer) in the 90s we would always wet the entire car down first then blow the interior out using an air compressor. Then blow it out back to front, vacuum, front to back, vacuume and keep repeating that until you can't blow anything else out of the carpeting. I could go into more detail but that was just the first two steps! Took about 4-5 hours per car. Whew!
I am a big car enthusiast and have been maintaining my cars since I was a kid. I also enjoy watching the different auto detailers on You Tube but enjoy your channel the most. You show modern classics as well as cars that have not been maintained while not making a sales pitch for your own products. Keep up the great work!!
I would definitely love to see you collaborate with Larry Kosilla of Ammo NYC, and my favorite BMW is hands down the E39. Even though yes I do agree the E28 is a classic legendary car the E39 is still modern enough for the average daily driver and there's always room for upgrades and modifications to bring it into the 21st century and keep it alive.
I bought a 2002 530i for $25 dollars off craigslist. The car sat in someone's driveway for a long time and they weren't using it and simply wanted it gone. Put new battery in, 4 new tires, filter and oil change and had the car detailed. The detail job made the car look almost new! Been driving the car for over a year and it runs smooth and powerful. Get lots of compliments!
The engine is an M54 2.5 liter inline six. The e39 chassis was absolutely ahead of it’s time and was responsible for so many innovations and sophisticated, advanced technology. In many ways, most of the e39’s ground breaking features set the standard of engineering for cars of today. In the early 2000’s I worked at a BMW dealership and I was instantly mesmerized by what masterpieces that BMW was producing. I said back then that I would own one someday and when that day came, I had the opportunity to buy a 2001 525i touring for a very low price and that car with 307,000 miles still performs just like it should and still makes me happy every time I drive it. Truly an amazing vehicle.
Also, great job detailing. I’m curious of finding out more about the various tools products you use. I work at an upholstery shop and we also do light detailing. I’m always looking for ways and products to make my job easier and more productive.
Bad windshield seals are kind of an e39 thing. I owned a 2002 530i for eight years...it was glorious when it was at 100%. It was almost never at 100%. Buying an out-of-warranty BMW is like buying that 250 year old farm house in Vermont; it'll charm you, but there'll always be something which will suck up time and money.
the e39 is one of my fav bmw’s ever made, the facelift is good-looking asf, love the f90 pre-facelift too , its so aggressive, and the the g80 idc what anyone says, but the e39 is so timeless and btw it has the m50b25 engine

My dad had an awesome 1989 750iL that he modded out like crazy. It was a pretty sick ride and I was sad when he let it go. I'm still not sure why he did. That was definitely my favorite BMW and he had many over the years, but that one was his baby. Also, a collab with you and AMMO-NYC would be fun.
Not a professional detailer but I have developed a process for washing my 3 vehicles. A low pressure pre-rinse to soften the dirt and knock large chunks off, a high pressure rinse to rinse off the dirt, foam cannon, followed by a contact wash using separate wash towels for each panel and 3 buckets (one with soapy water, one for used towels, one to rinse off my hands). A dirty towel does not get rinsed and reused during the same wash.
I owned an BMW E39 530d Individual with a 5 speed manual gearbox in brass metallic. So bad i had to sell it due to emission restrictions. The sound from the engine was so satisfying... The engine is the m54b25. It already has a secondary airpump. So it is the Euro4 emission standard.
Favorite BMW has to be the E39 M5, I had an E39 540i and loved it! I now have an F10 535xi and it has been nothing but a blast (of fun and a blast to my wallet). None the less, love BMW

I always do inside first because the carpet takes awhile to dry. Sometimes I throw a space heater inside while I'm doing the outside just to help it dry. I often hit it with a fabric febreeze afterwards

I always start a detail with wheels and tires. One thing i do different than any detailer i know or have seen on here is i always use PP Vehicle and Boat wash, even during a maintenance wash. I dont know how a ceramic coating stands up to it because i haven't convinced to let me apply one, but a ph neutral soap dosent break down traffic film. And since i always use my secret sauce to protect the paint ( Turtle Wax Seal and Shine ) its so easy to just reapply and know that the paint is clean and protected.
ive been detailing cars for 4 months now and actually gonna own a car detailing company soon but i always first wash the car completely under the hood the door insides (not the door panels) then dry it off completely polish it completely blow it off with air for any polishing dust then the inside we vacuum then blow it with air for dust and dirt under the chairs then vacuum again then clean the inside completely then we have a special thing (idk the name LOL) it basically makes the inside a bit more shiny etc then we put the outside in like a coating then do the tires in tire shine then we do the windows and send the car back all clean
Favourite BMW? Man, that’s tough. The manual E46 M3 coupe would be my favourite if it wasn’t for the subframe and rust stuff. I think it gets the closest though! Purely on looks? Probably the 635csi. Can’t get enough of that thing.

My ultimate BMW . Bearing in mind I’m not a true fan of the brand . I live in the UK . My ultimate BMW is the E30 M3 . In the mid to late 80s I was fortunate to go and watch the Manx international Rally , part of the British rally championship . Also a round of the European Rally Championship. A Guy from Europe Marc Duez was there competing with his E30 -M3 . Striking in red . This machine was a screamer . Out on the tarmac rally stages you could hear this car coming for miles . No idea what this Group A rally cars rev limiter was set at . But I had never heard anything like it before . My dream was to own my own road car . Alas not to be . There are a few for sale here . But way out of my price range 60 to 70k for decent ones . Oh well I’ll carry on dreaming . Great videos guys . Love seeing cars coming back to life . Regards Martin . Uk

i did a full restore on a e39, they all get moldy not just because of the rotted seals BUT the doors collect the water on the inside and dump it into the floor. So the floor in the back will pool water up inside and flood the interior of the car. You have to take the carpets out and get all the water and mold out of the foam underneath the carpets or the spores will keep coming back. THEN you have to re-glue the cardboard underneath the interior door panels to the door itself because the glue dries and doesnt hold causing it to funnel water from the outside to the inside. its an absolute nightmare. This also wrecks your window motors and causes all kinds of damage. Keeping the inside of these e39s dry is a full time job. The one I owned was a barn find and it was literally covered in mold and had above ground pools on the inside of the car. It took weeks of deep cleaning and replacing the carpets all together to get it driveable. it was one of the best cars I have ever owned and I miss it to this day. It had 270k on the dash when I sold it.

Love the e39. Since this is a 525i, this has the M54 2.5 liter I6, a great engine. While not very fast, it's dead reliable and sounds great.

E46 Models, my fist car at 18 was a 1999 323Ci convertible absolutely loved that car and miss it to this day.

M54 2.2. I have an E39 as well, my favorite BMW Chassis other than the E39 is a hard choice between the E36, E63 and F80. I can't choose lol.

You have to take the carpets out and get all the water and mold out of the foam underneath the carpets or the spores will keep coming back. THEN you have to re-glue the cardboard underneath the interior door panels to the door itself because the glue dries and doesnt hold causing it to funnel water from the outside to the inside. its an absolute nightmare. This also wrecks your window motors and causes all kinds of damage. Keeping the inside of these e39s dry is a full time job. The one I owned was a barn find and it was literally covered in mold and had above ground pools on the inside of the car. It took weeks of deep cleaning and replacing the carpets all together to get it driveable. it was one of the best cars I have ever owned and I miss it to this day. It had 270k on the dash when I sold it.
