  • Hi friends!! It has been way too long!! I'm so happy to be back! :)
It's been so long since I've made a video that I forgot to make an intro lol.
I have a few more parts of classroom setup, first week of school video, classroom community builders, and a mental heath update in the works for y'all. I hope your year is off to a great start, teachers. And everyone else - hope you're happy. :) Much love!!
PS. Shoutout to my students since I know some of you are watching bahaha. I love you guys! Go read a book.
First week of school slides are ready, btw! www.teacherspa...

Love that library space, so cosy yet open enough that you'll be able to supervise all the kids easily.

I found and subscribed to your channel when I was looking for stuff on mental health a couple years back. So glad to see you producing content again!

I liked it when the cubbies were by the door so the first thing when the kids walk in the room, they grab their stuff out of their assigned cubbies! I did that when I taught 4th grade. I been teaching 8th grade for 8 years!

Ahhh! I'm so happy to see you're back!! I returned to the classroom (3rd grade) this year after 14 years in education-adjacent roles. I found your channel earlier this summer when I was trying to figure out how to intro flex seating. (I basically "did" flex seating a thousand years ago, but no one was really talking about it and it all just kind of happened for my class organically. And so this year, I was overwhelmed with thinking about ALLL the different seating options available now, and with trying to figure out how to be intentional and launch it successfully from day 1. Your videos were so dang helpful in thinking through different things to offer my students and in thinking through all the details involved with managing a flexible classroom.)
But my situation ended up not being what I expected, and it ended up being a really rigid and unhealthy situation; I ended up resigning (much to my doctor's and therapist's delight. I've really felt tremendously guilty but after being out for a couple of weeks and talking to healthcare providers and leaders at other schools, I've begun to understand just how right it was for me to leave and to prioritize my values and wellbeing. Regardless, this is just NOT how I saw any of this playing out this year.)
I learned a lot about myself and about my values as an educator AND I learned a lot about what kinds of questions to ask during interviews. AND I just found out TODAY that I've been hired in a new school system and I get to go set up my classroom TOMORROW! Ahhhh!! So crazy. And lookie here. Here you are! AND you're here with a fresh set of slides on TPT?! I've been worried thinking about walking into an established class (they've had subs) and re-setting classroom culture and starting "fresh" mid-October. AND I've worried about getting it all done. Classroom, lesson plans, slides...SO MUCH is about to happen so, so fast.
This is a really long comment to say: Whatever happened on your end that led you to posting classroom set up and first week of school content in OCTOBER... there was a purpose. A 3rd grade teacher in Nashville who's excited and overwhelmed about having a late, fresh start just got blessed BIG TIME by what you've shared.
This is seriously so helpful. Thank you!

Im thinking about how to find a school that matches your beliefs too. Id love to know based on what you’ve learned what kinds of questions would you suggest asking about a school?

That’s a lot of furniture piled up! I hope they send you a little help to move that around while we’re not watching. What date does school start? The kids here have been going for at least a month(Louisiana)

Well I’m not a teacher but a good friend of mine was for 30+ years and y’all are a special kind of person! That’s a lot of work for one person! Your students are lucky to have you because your classroom is always in pristine condition and you seem to love what you do. We appreciate great teachers and school staff! Wish my house was half as organized😉
